I very much appreciated this clear, succinct review - definitely superior to most of what I find on KZfaq.

Thank you so much, that was really very helpful, since I am looking for a good saw which I can also use inspite of some handicaps. Being able to work with both hands/ arms equally with this saw seems a good chance for me. I didn't trust the cheap offers on certain online stores, so am very grateful for your video and for the link. Really very helpful and on the point like all your videos!

I build my own, but the toggle I got wrong. The other thing I did is hold my hands farther apart. Until it broke it worked very nice, I will fix it again. They work pretty good.

The big advantage of this over a pruning saw is you can sharpen it like any other chainsaw chain. It's (sort of) just a Pico chain with half the teeth facing backwards. Get a 5mm round file and watch a sharpening tutorial video.

Really interesting! Good to see a good quality brand. My husband said that the ones he used in the Corps were terrible!

That was likely a wire saw, not a pocket chainsaw. A pocket chainsaw has chainsaw teeth.

Pocket chainsaws are nice as survival tool, but they can be easily replaced in function by small hand saws. But pocket chainsaws are indispensable for cutting down tall trees. You can cut down branches or even main trunks of trees rising hundred+ feet in the air, without having to climb the tree or get close to it risking injury. Just tie very long paracord to both ends, toss one end over the high branch of the tree (using sling, bow/arrow etc) and start sawing!

Nice show and tell there Nick wish I would had this one ☝️ back in the days I bought yes a cheapie one and it just did not work even after I sharpened it with a chainsaw tool sharpener never did cut the 🌳 limbs I guess 🤔 the tree wanted to live the way it grew, Mother Nature works in mysterious ways 😂👍👌✌️🇺🇸

Just a tip I learned Nick, when sawing wood near the ground: only cut 2/3 through to save your blade and break the last unsawn part ! Best... Cam👍🏻

Very nice kit and video, will get one ASAP. Thats great if you know for sure that you’ll need one but it’s too heavy for a survival kit. All these nice to have but non essential items can add up to make a backpack unbearable. Can you review the best of the lightweight wire saws too please?

Good video, I would only use wd40 to help you cleaning it up after use but as it evaporates quickly you will need 3 in 1 oil or soemthing similar to keep it lubricated and rust free when stored

@f32mark 3 жыл бұрын
@@hiddenvalleybushcraft5683 I'd go one further, don't used WD40 at all as it's basically petrol. You can buy a litre of chainsaw oil for a few quid. I'd suggest you decant some of that into a suitable container and use that out in the field.

I’ve had a few of these for many years. Normally carry a chainsaw in the van. But they are a great emergency item. To sharpen, it helps to put it on an old chain saw bar in a vice, if you have those items. Cheers Nick. Stay well.

pocket chain saw extended with really long rope can cut down branches 100's of feet up in the air. Just toss the rope over the branch (using bow/arrow, sling whatever) and then start sawing!

The saws in the survival tins are NOT and have not ever been pocket chainsaws, they are wire saws and serve a purpose. The pocket chainsaw (not this model) I have used for years with no issue.

Pocket chainsaws are trash. Just carry a laplander or silky. Too many moving parts makes it inherently flawed. Not to mention that it requires oil to stay functional. Its portability is rendered obsolete by the fact that you have to carry oil in your bag.
WHY are people BUYING FATWOOD??? Let me show you how to find it.
