How Do Slovak Villagers Treat Black Foreigner (Social Experiment) 🇸🇰

2 жыл бұрынIn this episode I am located in Slovakia touring a village called “Lysá pod Makytou” which is a village and municipality in Púchov District in the Trenčín Region of north-western Slovakia close to Púchov. I was searching where I could find Traditional Slovak food in that region and the locals directed me to a place called “Salaš Nimnic.” My choice of traditional Slovak food was Halušky. Bryndzové halušky is a traditional dish with dumplings which is known as Knedlík which can be foods in many Central and Eastern European cuisines such as Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania.

It is very rare to see someone being interested in your property and animals, especially if you live in remote areas, older people may get anxious if they see some suspicious person walking around their property and taking pictures. The reason is that many of the people might have had an experience with thieves in the past. They dont think that regular person might be just curious for no reason :) But I believe they will not be rude if they are not feeling threatened. Love from Slovakia, if you are visiting the city of Trenčín some day, let me know ;)

@@Snstdrive yeah, thats probably why that one guy didnt want to tell how many chickens he have :D plus, you dont really see black people around these vilages , many people might never even met black person in their live (including me) :D so yeah, people will be suspicious. but i think its understandable.

Každopádně, je jen a pouze Britský občan, ale nikoliv Brit, nechci určovat co kdo smí být, ale on je jiné národnosti, to znamená, že třeba čech nemůže být němec a němec nemůže být čech, i kdyby se čech narodil v Německu a němec V Česku.

So many Slovaks with their welcoming KZfaq comments! Great video, man. I grew up outside Chicago, but speak Slovak and Czech. I’ve been there a couple times, and been pleased at how friendly the village folk are - especially when they learn I’m an American who speaks their language. Don't be fooled. Most people here are not open racist, they act nice and polite but that's just a facade. They smile and joke with Andre, then they go to Facebook discussions and wish death to black immigrants.

that has always been a dumb stereotype..... eastern block countries were never racist...... that was just an ignorant propaganda spread mainly by US government, cause they always hated Russia..... the truth is, for many decades our countries lived in a closed "bubble", so when these older generations stare at people of color, it's not hate...... it's just curiosity and amazement, since they never seen a black person for most of their lives...... it doesn't come from a place of hatred, but rather from a place of not being used to that

I am in retirement and I speak English, Slovak, Czech, Russian, Polish and Ukrainian. Why you expect all People in Slovakia to speak English? In Slovakia you have to speak Slovak. It's beautiful language. If you know alphabet, you can read in Slovak language, because pronunciation is always the same unlike English where you need to know spelling for every word because pronunciation is different from writing

I'm actually a Slovak native and had so much fun watching this! It's true that we understand Czech, mostly because the movies we watch are in Czech, not Slovak. I personally watch movies in English, but Slovak natives in villages hardly ever speak English. Also, in Czech republic, it's not as common for kids to understand Slovak as it is in Slovakia for kids to understand Czech. Enjoy your stay and check out some more slepice (and Bratislava, too) ! Pure quality, I'm a black guy myself and my wife is Slovak...I've been too Slovakia too many times to count and my experience has always been positive....I adore the place. Your Czech is way better than my Slovak... however, I Know how to cook halusky 👍🏾👍🏾. Before I went to SK for the first time all my friends tried to deter me, I'm glad I did what I wanted to do and have never regretted it. I've been round much of Eastern/Central Europe and am a better man for it. My kids are half Slovak and half Caribbean/English and richer for it. Big up to you for the vid ..I'll be looking out for more 👍🏾 🇸🇰

Dear Andre, you inspired me to begin doing hiking trips, and walk around Czech villages, and I want to thank you. This helped my physical build so much, but at the same time I also learnt about so many cultures, and met so many different people, that it almost seems unbelievable. Older generations will understand both Czech and Slovak languages as we were once one republic for 75 years called Czechoslovakia. We learned both languages in the school. Even hymns we sung both together as one, but 1st we sung Czech and then Slovak. After the separation of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the use of languages stopped. I am in my 40's, I can read and understand Czech still well. Hope you enjoy your days in Slovakia!

That fire engine is so-called voluntary fire brigade. They don't get paid, it's more like a hobby. And, in case of an emergency, the professional fire brigade comes and these village boys with old fire engines help them. It has got a long history dating back to the 19th century, in Slovakia but also in The Czech Rep.:) And thanks for a great vid!

Interesting video! My family is originally from Slovakia, but left in 1910 when it was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. My grandpa recently died and was saying that his dad, who brought the entire family over from Slovakia, couldn’t return to the homeland since he had violated his indentured a servitude by leaving in the middle of it. Technically that was a felony. I’d like to go someday. Sadly I can’t speak Czech or slovak, but I could always learn like how I’m learning German currently.

Danny, I highly recommend you try and come visit. People speak a good amount of languages now, or you can find a local friend who does and you would wonder how nice you could get by. I personally only left a decade ago to provide for my family, but I do miss a few things from my home. Wish you a wonderful trip. Xenia

KZfaq has randomly recommended me your video and I couldn't be happier, that was great! If you're still in Slovakia, you have to check out Banská Štiavnica - one of the most beautiful and unique towns (not just in Slovakia) with lots of things to see.

Bydlíme v malé vesničce v Čechách (zhruba velikosti vesnic, které André navštěvuje) a musím přiznat, že speciálně pro starší generaci musí vypadat Andrého chování opravdu znepokojivě 🤣. Dokáži si živě představit reakce našich sousedů na Andrého dotazy - epické 😂. Každopádně každé Andrého video z těchto setkání opravdu zvedne náladu 👍. Díky za to 😃.

Glad to see the people here were so friendly :) love your videos mate, hope you like our food ;D . Also we understand czech cause we were a united country and personally I picked up a lot of czech from Tv fairy tales / pohádky. Would even say that we understand czech just slightly better because their language was influencing us more than ours did theirs :)

i am pleasantly surprised by those reactions.. older generation is more reserved and closed to foreigners especially those with different skin colour.. younger generation is more open-minded and liberate.. i hope u'll visit more places in Slovakia, we have a beautiful country and i am looking forward to. 🙂

I have to take my hat off for you, you have learned a language, even if it is Czech, Slovaks will understand. That simple step makes helluva difference for any travel, and the welcome will be much warmer, as the communication is possible. Thanks for making this video, it shows one of many villages in Slovakia, pretty accurately. Hope you enjoyed your stay!

Well you survived and you didn't get eaten by locals. Remember "Host' do domu, Boh do do domu" Slovaks are friendly people if you mean no harm. Hope you had good walk there and enjoy more trek's in Slovakia. BTW beer is not as used to be multinational s destroyed beer industry after privatization, Zlaty Bazant is OK. All the best to you
