Gretcsh Streamliner G2655T Vs G2622T. Many tones...all in the studio...clean ....crunch....lots of effects.
VERY different sounds. Lots and lots of playing here that really highlights the tones from these budget double cuts. They may be inexpensive, but the toes really are pro level.
RI '65 Deluxe.

Thanks for making this. I’ve been checking these guitars out. I kind of like the jangly sound of the bigger one. It’s more vintage correct and versatile.

I grew up playing every style of music (almost every style) I play jazz, funk, groove, reggae, indie, dreampop, shoegaze, classic rock, pop,etc and this guitar just works with every style. Ive bene playing for 30+ years and when I got my 2622T last year, I found myself playing riffs I have never done before.

The more I listen to these guitars the more I love the unique sound they produce especially clean . I love both models but have more preference toward the small body for playing jazz and blues , it's also a great hard rock guitar with capabilities that you don't get with Fender or Gibson because of way possibly they are built that hollow body attribute with the solid body mid section just gives the most amazing sound variation

Thank you for posting this. I have been looking for this kind of video to compare these two guitars. I thought I was pretty sold on the G2622T, but it seems like the G2655T sounds better. I really need to play them side by side. Which would you recommend if you had to get one, or would you say it depends on the music played on it?
@damonthegnomeoftonechivers

Hi dude. Strangly I found them really different. The 2655 seems to sound as though it's fatter or deeper.....but it's not!! The 2622 sounds more cutting and not as fat. They are both great, but I used the small one on an online session yesterday and it sound amazing clean with a spot of trem and delay. I would go for the bigger one if you do more higher gain applications, and the small one if you lean towards blues/jazz/soul/country etc. But try them both if you can.

@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers I ended up getting the Electromatic G5622T in Imperial Stain after trying a lot of guitars at the store. This was back in late November. They actually did not have either the G2622T nor the G2655T, but I did play a couple of G2656T's or something, which were exactly like the 55 (smaller body), except they were in a Candy Apple and Greenish color and had "humped" block inlays, so close enough. I really wanted to play the 22T because that was the one I was pretty sure I was gonna buy, I even pre-ordered upgraded tone knobs on Amazon for it because they were about to sell out before I got the guitar, but I liked the feel and sound of the Electromatic, and figured if the neck of the 22 felt the same as the 56, I'd rather upgrade to the Electromatic, if that makes sense. Anyway, hope you read this update and find it somewhat interesting. I have also been recording it with the Pro Reverb and a couple mics and some vintage pedals.

Hi Damon, first thanks for doing this video. Great demo of both guitars. How versatile do you think either one of these Gretch are for the gigging musician doing at least 3-4 nights a week? Especially with the bigsy tremolo system? Is it stable for staying in tune? Would the guitar hold up like a Mexican Fender would once you got it set up to your specs? Even though I have US Fender, I still use the Mexican Fender as a baseline for well made guitars of all kind. Thank you for your thoughts…
@damonthegnomeoftonechivers
@damonthegnomeoftonechivers 3 жыл бұрын
VERY versatile. Pop a spot of graphite in the nut slot to help with tuning stability. If you are gigging alot (like me!!) I would think about changing the tuners. But the build quality is superb, certainly up to Mex Fender standard imho. It will go from spanky clean to full on rock.

@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers definitely a big thank you 🙏🏾 for your thoughts and I did purchase one. Had graphite but put on as you suggested. The tune machines seem to be decent but I may change out to grovers or gotoh magnum locking tuners. Thx again. 🍻

Just acquired a new Gretsch G2627T streamliner. I'm having tuning issues. Just wondering what you do to keep them in tune. I've put some graphite shavings from a pencil under each string at the nut. Improved a little. Thanks.

Hi there, anytime you use a Bigsby you need to remember it’s a very old technology. Just use it for a gentle wobble, not too aggressive . They react better to heavier strings as well. Make sure you stretch out the strings , and The graphite works really well.

The problem with this guitars is that, in a live performance, they are impossible to maintain it tune! Every half song I had to tune it back. I have also replaced some parts but didn’t manage to fix this. I guess bigsby is meant to be only on expensive guitars
