Keep in mind butt breathing or cloacal respiration is more common for turtles that live in climates with cooler winters. Yes I’m in CA as well. Warmer the better. Too warm they will need some shade.

Hi Julianne, I have more terrapins than most people I would assume, over 10. I’ve been lucky enough to keep some Diamondback terrapins, RES morphs, musks, and reeves. I have had a few others in the past that have become too large for me to properly care for them and they were adopted out. I’m the future I would love to get a group of spotteds and Eastern box turtles going again.
