When they want to become EU-members, life will become more difficult. And when you enter Schengen, every house like this one will be rebuilt, there will be a real shower, hot water and a working WC. It will also be bigger. The EU even pays money for helping the elderly ; Fortunately, this seems to be part of the Ukrainian spirit to help each other, in Austria this only works with money. It sounds like your parent's could use a water Storage, that fills up slowly while the neighbors aren't using water, but that is enough to supply the house. But with the frost in winter, it must be difficult to build something that lasts during the whole year.

@@TayaUkraine "Down to earth" is a milder version of "salt of the earth." They both mean your personality has stayed close to your healthy roots. (It's a confusing expression because actually putting salt into the earth prevents things from growing. "Salt of the earth" implies the exact opposite, that you've grown well).

Dear Taya: I have watched a number of your video's since the invasion of your homeland over two plus years ago by Russia. I admire your positive spirit and values of taking care of the elders in your Family. It is heart warming to see your beautiful village and Family lifestyle. We want to see an end to the war in Ukraine. The day Russia invaded Ukraine I painted a little 8"X10" Ukrainian flag. I put it on display in the picture window of my home for all to see I support a free Democratic Ukraine ! A friend of mine Thomas Ellenbecker taught Phyisics at my High School. He was one of a team of Phyisist's from around the world who was invited by Ukrianian diplomates to Chernobyl, Ukraine to help design a container to stop the spread of radioactive waste from contaminating more of the area in the city. He told me how beautiful the Ukrainian Women that he met there were. I have to agree he is right about that. I am from America's mid west state of Wisconsin. I live in the capital city of our state, Madison. Your food makes me hungry and reminds me of my Grandparents house and cooking on the farm. My Grandmother was from Zagreb, Croatia. If you ever come back to the USA your are welcome to stay here at my home. California has it's beauty, but it is perhaps too glitzy, fast, and over rated ? I am glad you got to go there. I got to travel the entire CA. state 3 years after I finished College and was Teaching Art. Thank you for sharing your video's ! You have taught me alot about your culture ! Cheers Taya and best wishes from: Steven I'm America's Dairyland WI. ! Slava Ukraine !

Here is a little help with your English vocabulary. The hole in the bottom of the sink is called a "drain" and the drain flows to a "sewer" or "septic tank". The hole drilled into the ground to access water is called a "well". When you use a large plastic bowl for cleaning dishes you are using it as a "basin". The rear part of a toilet that holds water to flush with is called the "toilet tank". If water drips inside the house from the roof the roof has a "leak" or you can say the roof "leaks". I understand that your grandparents worry about spending money but you might be able to persuade them to accept help by telling them the money is donated by people from all over the world for them to have a little easier life because we love them and we love Ukrainian people! Tell them it would be immoral for you to get such donations and not use them for what the donors intended. Oh, and tell them it is normal for people in the "free world" to help others.
@craigfinnegan8534

It's a tragic catch-22 that if Ukrainians could spend enough time in the West, they'd understand how to make and manage money better, but they don't have enough money to spend a lot of time in the West. The war is changing that for Ukrainian civilians as refugees, but that's a painful trade-off. There's a parallel there with Ukrainian military personnel coming to Western countries for training on more modern weapons and tactics.
