A major difference between the Right and the Left concerns the way each seeks to improve society.
Conservatives believe that the way to a better society is almost always through the moral improvement of the individual -- by each person doing battle with his or her own weaknesses and flaws.
It is true that in violent and evil societies such as Fascist, Communist, or Islamist tyrannies the individual must be preoccupied with battling outside forces. Almost everywhere else, though, certainly in a free and decent country such as America, the greatest battle of the individual must be with inner forces -- that is, with his or her moral failings.
The Left, on the other hand, believes that the way to a better society is almost always through doing battle with society’s moral failings. Thus, in America, the Left concentrates its efforts on combatting sexism, racism, intolerance, xenophobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, and the many other evils that the Left believes permeate American society.
One important consequence of this Left-Right distinction is that those on the Left are far more preoccupied with politics than those on the Right. Since the Left is so much more interested in fixing society than in fixing the individual, politics inevitably becomes the vehicle for societal improvement. That’s why whenever the term “activist” is used, we almost always assume that the term refers to someone on the Left.
Another consequence of this Left-Right difference is that, since conservatives believe society is changed one person at a time, they accept that change happens gradually. This isn’t fast enough for the Left, which is always and everywhere focused on social revolution. An excellent example of this was a statement by the then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, just days before his first election in 2008. To a rapturous audience, he declared: “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”
Conservatives not only have no interest in fundamentally transforming the United States of America, they are strongly opposed to doing so. Conservatives understand that fundamentally transforming any society that isn’t fundamentally bad -- not to mention transforming what is one of the most decent societies in history -- can only make the society worse. Conservatives believe that America can be improved, but should not be transformed, let alone fundamentally transformed.
The Founders of the United States recognized that the transformation that every generation must work on is the moral transformation of each citizen. Thus, character development was at the core of both child rearing and of young people’s education -- from elementary school through college.
As John Adams, the second president, said: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
And in the words of Benjamin Franklin: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.”

And self-control comes via logic and reason, not feelings and emotions. Animals function mostly on emotions; human beings, altho flesh, must function on reason. We now know exactly what happens if human beings function on emotions alone: socialism, communism, facism and all the ills of these putrid ideologies. People behaving like animals. At least animals have the excuse of a tiny frontal cortex.

Jack P. Richardson Individualism vs. Authoritarianism/Collectivism shouldn't be used to distuguish the left and the right. Libertarianism can exist on the conservative side (free market people) as much as it can on the progressive side (individualist anarchism). And authoritarianism is present with both Mussolini and Mao. Liberalism is usually seen as a centrist position, but ideologies from both sides of the spectrum relate to it. The way this channel tries to distinguish left and right is very wrong, if you ask me.

+Walktherails I can answer that one, the evolution of liberals in the US went as such Classical liberalism (pure capitalism) > Early Jacksonian (this is where the left and right split) > Late Jacksonian, Progressivism, Post Marxism Anarchism as an ideology comes directly from anarcho communism, both desired the same end goals, which is very collectivist in nature believing in societal ownership as opposed to private or state ownership. Individualism lies purely with classical liberalism, everything else, including my isms deviate from the pure individualism aspect.

Yes of course. It would be so easy to stand up against the biggest global problems we have. Now now, don't stop the climate change, it's a problem we don't concentrate on, because we don't care. It's much easier to look away from that things and talk something about "self improvement". With self improvement you will see how necessary it is to do this things for society or someday we won't have one

@@korbschekanal7812 You're validating the video, and the OP, by agreeing with the notion that judging and trying to assert control over others is how to improve society. There are videos on this very channel on actions we could be taking to deal with climate change... but they wouldn't be signaling anyone's virtue, vilifying any group or bringing in big money for activist rackets, so it's surely of little worth to the progressive-minded.

For everyone complaining about this video being biased, literally everyone has bias to some degree. It is impossible to be completely unbiased, although one can try to fairly represent both sides of an argument. The problem is when people who are clearly biased claim to be unbiased. This channel is clearly politically right, but it doesn't try to claim that it is unbiased in this regard. However, you have many media outlets that claim to be unbiased but are usually politically left. That is where I take issue.

As an atheist, and a parent, I have taught my son that you must respect others, respect authority even though it may not seem fair, and to always respect yourself. He knows NEVER to talk back, try his best at school, but never expect to win, but learn to fail and learn from it. He know that things are hard otherwise everyone would be doing it, and he applies himself at school. It boils down to parenting, and keep on their asses up until they are 18 or able to be responsible, reasonable adults. Religion is not a requirement but if you feel that "fear of going to hell" will work, so be it, just keep that shit away from making laws. Parents, don't give up on our children, plain and simple. Each child is different and some require a good old fashion ass whoopin'.

+Antonio Contreras Sadly the family unit is under attack. Lots of children don't have parents to teach them those things or the parents don't teach them those things. We are being conditioned to believe that a family doesn't need a mother and father to raise healthy children. Not that a single parent can't raise healthy children, but the general outcome is that single parent families, especially those without fathers produce adults that will continue the cycle. I am glad you are raising your kids like you are, keep it up, hopefully they will raise their kids the same way.

Hyperionsf Are you kidding me? Your rant has done nothing other than show your intolerance of someone who has different beliefs or in my case, no religion. You obliterated any argument you had what so ever putting words in my mouth, but that is to be expected from someone who relies on some religion to get kids to listen. I did understand it, but I completely disagree with it. We keep pointing fingers, and making it a more complicated issue than it should be. Yes, when mom and dad are in the picture, the kid has a better chance of being a well rounded person, REGARDLESS of whether religion is there or not. As a matter of fact, I have a nephew who has parents that are EXTREMELY religious. This young boy can't watch Cartoon Network, he can not watch KZfaq videos, he's not allowed to play any video games, or sometimes just be a kid. Well guess what? Even though his parents shelter him as bad as they do, he becomes very rebellious when mom is not around. He uses curse words like crazy, he shows many signs of his dissatisfaction of why his mom does not let him watch Cartoon Network, yet questions why he is allowed to watch Nickelodeon, which in his exact words were, "I don't know why I can't watch cartoons, since Nickelodeon seems more sexual." SEXUAL?! My son, who is his age doesn't even know what that means. "He wasn't stating that religion was absolutely necessary but that it's a proven fact that children without strong father figures or religious backgrounds (actually believing and not just being forced to go to church) produce a far more enriched individual for moral superiority than without." Proven fact that children without religious backgrounds, produce a far more enriched individual?? Where is the "proof"?? Where are the stats that show religion makes a better person? I agree having both mom and dad helps, but where is your proof of the other statement? Otherwise, your argument is pointless, and all you wanted to do is throw your 2 cents and judge someone you do not know. Yeah, religion... lol.

(If it's not broken, don't fix it.) My favourite English proverb. Leftists favourite quote (it's their lives, let them live how they want to), yet they limit other's freedom, hypocrites. Rights are i believe, more active, always keeping an eye out for political changes and always in thinking about a country's progress. Just like the video says, rights believe in self-reflection and improvement. We look what's inside the individual rather than what's outside. If lefts had their way. Any "special" individuals will be allowed to be candidates . First Albino President? First Transgender President? First Pan-sexual president? What else? First disabled president? Looking at how special this person is rather than how capable he/she is? Forced marriages? Collapsing economy? I don't even get why it's a "valid" option for any "democratic" society. Right gives you freedom and opportunity. It creates uneven situations so that humans can compete, and improve. Throughout history there has never been an improvement if everyone is equal and one's extra hard work will be given to the others to make it "equal". Jealousy, stress, worries, triumph, hate, disgust, love and pride, these keep us running and on our feet always striving to achieve something. What are we supposed to run on if these were taken away. Are you a rational thinker? Do you like arguments? Do you like staying in the center of every sides, do you love your freedom? Your preferences? Lefts believes everything can be absolute, there will always be uneven-ness and that creates an opportunity to improve. There can't be absolute "non-racists", "non-homophobe" or "non-SomeoneThatDoesn'tAgreeWithYou". If one's homophobic, don't force this person to just plainly accept LGBT culture. Teach them and show them, argue them and win them over. Don't force them only to end up with that person bitterly behaving to your will. Same goes to racism. Show them your race is not what it seems, it's a win-win, you'll improve and he'll most likely change his opinion of your race. If he doesn't, that's fine, nothing can be perfect and absolute. Left and Right is so vastly different, one cannot be in the center. A single belief from a side just contradicts all from the other side. I'm not even American or "White". And I refused to be named "people of colour" by you Leftists, shameful and disgusting name, I'm an equal of any race, my race don't need pity and special names. Caucasians Reigned supreme long ago(several asian colonies), now we Asians will try our hardest to improve and surpass instead of pulling Caucasians down. Leftists are like children playing hero. delusional and unproductive. Waste.

You need to take a closer look at the right side if you think they stand for freedom. They want to impose laws against people who believe abortion is a woman's right, rather than convincing them otherwise in a manner that supports freedom. Where do you see the "forced marriages" in the left side? I've never heard of that before, although I certainly have heard of *rightists wanting to ban gay marriage*. As long as you have a platform and make laws, you impose on the freedom of other people. That's what government is. Leftists only stand for a different *kind* of anti-freedom from rightists, but in the end people's rights are limited no matter which side wins.

Rights: Because we benefit from status quo, therefore don't change everything. Lefts: Because we don't benefit from the status quo, therefore there must be change to make me prosper. The reason why Rich people tend to lean politically right is because they earn most from it, why risk your wealth in changing the system when you can stay status quo and earn a lot of money? The reason why poor people tend to lean left is because they don't earn much from it. I don't want to be poor therefore I want change to the system. No side is better unless you account your personal status in society.

Mr Trugglez the problem is, the system is a capitalist system, meaning if you want money, you spend your own personal time earning that money. The left tend to believe that the system of America should be communism, meaning if you don't have money you get free money and land, and if you've worked hard for all of the things you own, that is too bad for you because somebody else does not have as nice of things therefore you must give some of your possessions away to someone who has not worked a day in their life.

I happens to be on the left side of the spectrum and I wholeheartedly disagree. The left isn't out there going full on commie, they're just asking for healthcare and free education and minimum wage rise. An economy can only grow if a population has purchasing power to purchase goods, this is something any basic economist will agree upon (Don't get me wrong, I'm no economist, I'm just a random person on KZfaq.). The problem about the current system is that poor people are getting poorer while rich CEOs are massively overpaid than their foreign counterparts. The Poor has been working more than ever. Now working class workers worked more than Japanese and German workers. People are working long hours with no or trinkle (few days) paid leave.The Purchasing power of the wage has dropped lower than that of 1950. Not only that, many people are forced to become jobless, especially in the manufacturing industry, where outsourcing has now became the norm and jobs are taken out. To say our system is acceptable for everyone (not the shrinking middle class or the well off 1%, but EVERYONE) is like saying Hillary doesn't support the TPP, a self deceiving lie.

A ridiculous statement actually. Pure and utter rubbish. Right wing propaganda designed to brain wash young conservative college age folk. Beware of the origins of this video, do your research, look into the founders and creators of this media group. Character to care for those other than yourself is a strong and desirable character to have. The supposition that ones character needs to be fixed before trying to improve upon the injustices of ones society is presupposing that ones character is flawed in the first place. Please. And to say that gradual changes are preferable over a long period of time is really telling. Sometimes it becomes alarmingly apparent that a change is needed, a wrong must be put to right and an improvement in the status quo is being called for. An idea whose time has arrived and it takes a group of forward thinkers to promote that idea, often, effectively, through peaceful protests well as other means.

And as a right winger (and I think all of us Right wingers agree), I think it's safe to say that the left and the right want a lot of the same things, but they go about it in entirely different ways. For instance I think a lot of the less "bright" Leftists are trying to stop racism, the "pay gap", fight for women's rights, when in reality no one really wants those things OR they don't exist. The African Americans have the same rights as we do, so do women. There's no pay gap because women and men work differently, etc. etc. No good American WANTS a society with blacks having less social ability.. because our only difference is our skin color. You probably get the point, bud. :)

Exactly. But not in the false premise this gent spews. Here's the difference: the left believes that change needs to happen in yourself, other individuals AND society; the right believes change should happen only in other individuals. The right falsely believes they are logical and reasonable, but in reality, they operate almost entirely on repressed childhood emotion. Until they address their childhood issues, as Trump never feeling respected by his father demonstrates, they can never get to logic and reason - just pure instinctual emotion. Scandinavian countries are solving most of their issues by addressing root causes and using evidence-based policy. Conservatives don't want that, because it might beehive affect the nice, cozy niche they've carved themselves in their corrupt system. They tell the left, "look, I did well in this corrupt system, quit complaining and do what I did!" But the left would rather fix the corrupt system so that new generations can all get ahead and better themselves and the world. The right only cares about they're open kids getting ahead by maintaining the corrupt system.

I believe in most of those ideas, but not when you talk about religion.Religion doesn't make anyone more moral. Usually, it's the opposite actually. Religion is always excluding people and trying to dictate how society should behave. Thus, we should limit the influence of the church the same way we limit the power of the state.

Liam O'Clery I'll compare the situation as I see it to a video game series. Assassin's Creed to be specific. It would seem odd to draw political philosophy from a video game, but even if it is a game, I find that it promotes thought. You have the two factions that seem to generally fight for the same thing. But have much different means to the end. The Templars, who I will compare to the Left, want to have a better world through control of others, or by limiting of rights. Those in power are supposed to lord over those not in power and give everything out. They are willing to do less than ideal things to get power and keep it. This is not to say that all leftists are evil, or that all of them are corrupt. Though I find that to be just a trend among that side. The Right isn't without flaw though and does have it's own problems. The Assassins on the otherhand go about achieving a better world by promoting rights of others. They are classical liberals.While I will say that not every action portrayed in game is applicable to real life (such as you know, assassinating corrupt leader figures, at least while we have Rule of Law on the good side, we have some type of democratic society to work things out) but the idea of freedom for people still holds constant. That people have free will to do as they wish, but are not harming others in some way. Their (the Assassin's) maxim as said and eventually defined in the series is "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted", on the surface it might seem cynical. That someone can believe what they want and can do what ever they want. Which is partially true. The meaning: "To say nothing is true is to realize the foundations of society are fragile and that we must be the shepherd of our own civilization. To say Everything is Permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences whether glorious or tragic." This idea seems to follow the saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink." You can only hope to educate people about certain ideology and that they might make the best choice for themselves. But as it stands with the Leftist progression of the school systems, only one side is taught. I can point out recent examples to show this is the case. But I feel as if I've made my point and expressed my view in probably too many lines.

+RangerColinLZ For the left it is through terror and democide. Lenin said that: "Terror is an instrument of social hygiene." That wasn't an original thought but it has been part of the left since before the French Revolution where it was first put into wide practice. In excess of 300,000 people were killed by the revolutionaries. Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and others killed vastly more. Those who were not killed were afraid to speak up because they knew they could be next, or they could be sent to the camps. As Hannah Arendt said in her study on Totalitarianism, the camps are also a necessary threat under such regimes moreso than the mass killings. Mass killings could make people too afraid, but the camps, that's not so bad, especially if one could get recognition from the regime, and maybe even prizes, for turning in "malcontents." These days though a more common tack is to use psychological studies and advertising methods to subtly nudge people and influence their thinking without them noticing. By being allowed to frame the language used, to messages in pop culture and mass media, it is a steady bombardment. As this succeeds, the natural impulse of the sheep is to stay with the herd and suddenly there is a surge in the direction desired by, in this case, big government. Most people won't even realize what happened. It's very insidious and one wonders how far they can go with it and when the older methods will come back into use once the "enemy" has been reduced to a small enough percentage of the population and sufficiently dehumanized and stigmatized.

A lot of people are asking why we can't change both the individual and the society. I think I can explain. In previous civil rights movements, like African American rights and women's rights, there was a need for societal change because they were being oppressed by actual laws and every aspect of society advocated their persecution or inequality. Today however, while many believe there is still a problem, it is undeniable that the problem is no longer in society as a whole, and certainly not in government. So you can't fix the problem where the problem doesn't exist. For example, you can't fix people being racist by taking their free speech. People being racist is a problem with the individual, and using government as a means to fix the individual doesn't work without violating rights and ruining the government.

Nick Baldwin it's not that we don't acknowledge climate change, it's just that America is a country, not a planet. And until we can come up with a law to change the weather, I don't see climate change as a problem that can be or needs to be solved by the United States at the federal level. And I'm not ignoring the problems by saying America is not a shitty country. Maybe all the problems are with shitty people. That's exactly the point of this video. Liberals see a problem and they automatically jump to society as a whole for the fault. Conservatives tend to see problems as rooted in individuals.

Scott well I can't disagree with you on that it's an individual thing.. But I believe some government action to help fight climate change might be necessary.. Also the fact that Corporations have a big debt to the climate change, and government actions such as fighting for oil, when we should be avoiding those kinds of wars, and really focus on green energy.. In the sense of green energy, I don't really care whether or not it helps with the economy (although hopefully it does, and facts seem to point that way), but using the gov to help push these kinds of things that are harder to do with individuals on their own is the whole reason for it in the first place (at least to me) I totally understand where you are coming from, and I really don't like relying on the gov, but I still have the (maybe naive) hope/expectation that we (the people) use the gov to do its best to try and solve problems such as climate change as in creating incentives for green energy jobs or something along those lines..

If those two criteria can be met I'm all for it

why does improving one self have to revolve around religion?
@benkai343434
@benkai343434 8 жыл бұрын
+wingedshark star That's a stealthily covered opinion which comes from the notion that religion provides a strong moral grounding, which in most cases outside of extremist groups is absolutely correct. If it would help to untrigger your fedora, perhaps it's better if you view it as 'having a strong moral compass/ strong sense of justice' as opposed to believing in a given religion. There's other reasons why religion is important, but unless you'd like me to bring them up then they aren't relevant to your question. To clarify; I'm not what you'd call a religious person, but I understand that it serves a purpose beyond the boogeyman representation it's often given in modern society.
@wingedsharkstar
@wingedsharkstar 8 жыл бұрын
+Kriplovski But you don't need religion to provide you with morals. Most morals and values can come from : parents, school, friends, society or you can even just use common sense to figure out wat it is that you believe in or hold dear. Religion can provide these things but it really doesn't have to be that you need religion as a moral compass to guide you in every aspect of your life. You can improve on your own or with the help, it is a choice.
@benkai343434
@benkai343434 8 жыл бұрын
wingedshark star Yes, but that requires that such people have a strong moral compass in the first place; existing does not make you moral, and you are just as likely to learn immoral things from friends and family as you are to learn moral things, especially if the people are inherrently immoral. What religion provides is a framework by which others can measure their morality. belief in a higher being or punishment getting doles out for your sins is little more than an allegory for 'leading an immoral life will lead to your own downfall'. If you aren't religious then you have to be disciplined, and even if you don;t view yourself as religious you cannot ignore that religion is the foundation of modern moral precepts.
@wingedsharkstar
@wingedsharkstar 8 жыл бұрын
+Kriplovski It is true that friends can actually be a bad influence on some people (if the have shady friends), but this does not mean that religion is the only thing that will always be pure kind. To take an extreme example like westerboro baptist church, they are a hate group that are against things like homosexuality. these morals are not really accepted in this day and age but that's wat they have been told by their religion so they believe it to be morally justified. TL;DR religion is no more trust worthy of being a good moral compass then let's say your parents,school and friends. (not that any of those are bad)
@benkai343434
@benkai343434 8 жыл бұрын
wingedshark star The problem with your argument is while the Westboro Baptist Church may do some morally reprehensible activites, what they lack is Self Control, which I'm assuming you gathered from the video is important if you wish to be a moral person. Their core values are no different to your average Christian, albeit with more of a Baptist take on such values. Your last point is moot as you used a fringe group with values that are (at the end of the day) nothing that they should feel ashamed of acting like petulent children to try and pigeonhole the rest of religion. Your point about Homosexuality and it being 'the current year xD' are little more than virtue signalling. Finally, lets not make the rest of this debate about the Westboro Baptist Church. We both know that's a textbook case of strawmanning and shifting the goalposts, so I'd endeavour to keep this on-topic; whether or not religious belief and faith, particularly the christian faith, is the foundation of modern western morality, which I most certainly believe that it is.

SightNinja Wrong! The greatest description of American civilization was written in the early 19th century by the Frenchman Alexis de Tocqueville. One of the differences distinguishing Americans from Europeans that he most marveled at was how much Americans - through myriad associations - took care of one another. Until President Franklin Roosevelt began the seemingly inexorable movement of America toward the European welfare state - vastly expanded later by other Democratic presidents - Americans took responsibility for one another and for themselves far more than they do today. Churches, Rotary Clubs, free-loan societies and other voluntary associations were ubiquitous. As the state grew, however, all these associations declined. In Western Europe, they have virtually all disappeared.
@sightninja
@sightninja 7 жыл бұрын
Blue But...what does that have to do with feelings vs logic? You said conservatives use facts, logic and reason, while progressives use feelings. But that is an opinion. Anyone can use logic to support their political beliefs. And anyone can use feelings to support them. Example 1 - Liberal: Since gay marriage doesn't affect straight people personally, it makes sense to let gay people get married if they want to. At the very least, they'll pay for a marriage license. Free money. Conservative: As a Christian (or believer in like...ya know...biology), Gay marriage feels wrong... Example 2- Liberal: I feel like McDonalds is taking advantage of low minimum wage! I want $15 /hour Conservative: fast food isn't meant to provide a living wage. Just work experience and a stepping stone to better jobs. See? First example the liberal uses logic. Second example, the conservative uses logic. Logic and feelings are not signs of political ideologies.

The conservatives have most of the equation right about limiting government. If they would stop pushing religion and prayer in the schools, which violates separation of church and state, then almost everything else is correct. Maybe another role for the government that big business refuse to do, is reduce pollution or pay fines. Don't pollute the rivers, air, soil, oceans, etc. Global warming is bunk, but acid rain and mercury contaminated fish is real. Schools should go back to teaching self discipline, rather than tearing down the west. People need self restraint as a virtue. Having illegitimate kids should not be socially acceptable, and you just marry the government to pay for them. Horrible outcomes of kids without fathers winding up depressed, violent, criminal, on drugs, and in prisons overwhelmingly.
@strawberrykisses2795

Conservatives don't "push religion & prayer" in schools. We only want the right to have our religious after school clubs, prayer meetings, be able to bring our Bibles to school & read them, be allowed to have open discussions if the topic organically arises, things of that nature. We cannot do any of that in most schools. Kids aren't even allowed to wear a t-shirt referring to God in some schools! It's not, & never has been, about forcing entire schools to teach religion but rather it's about us retaining our rights to practice our religion, which has been taken away from us. That's not freedom.

This was completely one sided. It should gave been called how the Right is good and the Left is bad. A balanced agreement could have been that the two sides have mirror opposite approaches to society's improvement, like how the Right seeks the better society by bettering individuals who would better society on their own, and the left seeks to better society so that it then betters the individuals in it, and both sides gave positives and negatives. This doesn't even mention that some Conservatives don't even accept gradual changes, and it acts like Liberals don't even have a sense of individual improvement.

yes, leftism is bad. that is the point. The left "seeking to better society" is the problem. that implies the State determines such things rather than a free, moral, responsible people who self govern. This is America.

David Smith If the Right is about self-governing then why dose the Republican Party have a person who is famous for not having self-control? And this channel has been hypocritical with it's view o self-responsibility. In many videos where say 'take responsibility' they also say blame you parents, blame the government, blame anyone who doesn't agree with you. The Right says that people should take responsibility for their problems, but when there is a spike in crime they blame minorities, when someone has a drug addiction they blame immigrants, when things don't go their way and don't really know who to blame they blame the government, even thought by their own ideals the government shouldn't have that kind of responsibility. And Liberals tend to try to better society by bettering the people in it, like by raising awkwardness for problems that might be fixed with community support. You can make yourself better, or just feel better about yourself all you want, unless you have some positive influence on your society it doesn't matter.
@wheniztheend
@wheniztheend 7 жыл бұрын
David Smith So you want something closer to Anarchy? The biggest problem with conservatives seems to be that they just assume that everyone will just work together and lend helping hand to other people. Nothing inherently wrong with this assumption, because that's something I wish to assume of the human race. But the biggest problem is that there are some people that just can't take care of themselves (disability etc. talking about safety net). Now I don't support anything on the left or right that gets in the way of civil liberties (so libertarian society) but when it comes down to the gov, I see them needing to hold more power over the corporations (instead of the other way around) so that people have an actual say in the government.. Going back to social issues, the main issue with the conservative doctrine, is that it tends to favor religion morals (Christianity in specific). Also that they go out of their way to make discrimination ok..

While I do agree that we need to improve ourselves, some people can't improve themselves without the help of others. Improving one self still has to come from within, but having someone there to let you know how things are does help. While the United States has many great freedoms, what a lot of people don't seem to pay any attention to is the fact that many other countries out there have nearly as much if not even just as much freedom as the US, but some of these countries have their people living better lives which is solid proof that our society can indeed improve. And don't act like wealth inequality isn't an issue. It still is. Especially when you have billionaires actually literally paying a smaller percentage of taxes than some middle class people. That makes no sense.

You lack critical thinking or something? Left wing seeks social change through government instated force (AKA: I'm going to put a gun to your head, don't do what I say and I will pull the trigger). The argument is that current right wing ideology is much more of a socially homogenous libertarian society, while the left are essentially the new fascists.
