Here are three ways to use a tuning fork to tune your classical guitar. This fork vibrates 440 times per second. This is note A. No batteries are required.

Last night I was coming back home from work through the busy subway train. I pulled out my perfectly tuned A=440Hz analog tuning fork and I thought to myself "How would I hear the tuning fork with all this surrounding noise around me?" Thankfully I thought of this video: "Stick it in your ear, fills your whole head."

A little fun trick an elder man once showed me is slapping the tuning fork and moving it on the string on the 12th fret it will also start vibrating once you're correctly tuned. (works best on the A string ) can tune the rest by ear from there.

Plug your ear by pushing the small flap with your index finger. Place the vibrating tuning fork on that elbow. It will travel through the bone to your ear.

Just put it over the frets at the “A” notes on each string and tune. Resonate tuning with the harmonics, more accurate for beginners I think. Plus you can slide Fork on string to tell if it’s flat or sharp. Example on how to use; 5th string “A” at nut and 12 fret. 1st and 6th strings “A” at 5th frets. Good practice for learning where the As are all over the fretboard too imo. Now go find your A’s.

I use the tuning fork using the last method ie: I whack the fork on something hard and place the end on the bridge of my guitar/violin and get my note "A" that way. I've done this for as long as I can remember. Digital tuners are great and all that but using one's ear is more helpful for intonation with the violin and it's better all 'round with the guitar too. Tuning forks will never go out of fashion with me.

I have always emphasized that it’s first the salad fork goes on the outside small. Then the fork for fish, which is slender but longer.. Then. The tuning fork and after that finally the fork for the main course depending on whether it’s foul or beef or pork always always always put the fork down before you take another bite or you will lose a molar is thank you.

Im a classical guitarist. We do.. can’t really do it with out. And no not just past the flesh. Some don’t practice “rest stroke and can achieve the same sound through nail and technique… jazz guitarists also utilize long nails. Some use both pick and nails at the same time. Cool stuff. Even some rockers grow them out as well. Look at jimmy page’s nails. It’s often annoying at work or when people don’t know why your nails are long and assume you’re a coke head but whatever ha

@Psychoticpebbles if you mean hygiene gross, then no, nails grow pretty fast (at least for me) and taking care of them regularly means it isnt gross. if you mean gross in a way that males shouldn't grow nails however, there's worse things guys do these days.
@FBI_agent_4859

@@musiccityspotlightpodcast4470 idk where and how you studied classical guitar but in any proper school they teach you to keep them leveled with your flesh, anything past that and you're compromising speed and agility. the longer the nail the harder it resists to pluck the string. im saying this assuming you know you don't pluck horizontally but with an angle. also classical music in general is pretty dead right now. let alone classical guitar. people aren't gonna know why you grew your nails unless you put a giant paper at the back of your shirt saying "i have long nails because i play classical guitar" you're always gonna have to explain in detail WHY you need any nail its unavoidable really

Okay I am confused about one thing though. I always thought that you should use the fork to tune the 1st string on 5th fret which is A440, never heard of tuning to the glass note on 4th string, does it make a difference? For those who are wondering, I believe you tune all other strings relative to the tuned one. 2nd string on 4th fret equals open 1st string and all other on 5th fret equal the open string below

If the D string is tuned to D, then the harmonic at the 7th fret of the D string is not tuned to A, not in the equal temperament system. However, the harmonic at the 5th fret of the A string would be A 440, so maybe you should use that instead.

No. For example after you tune the A string like in the video. Play it open. Then play the 5th fret on the low E string. 5th fret on the E string is open A. They should sound the same. Then 5th on the A string is a D. And so on. You just need 1 string to be tuned
