Your assertion of the lack of intercooler on the manifold type blowers is somewhat inaccurate. They do have intercoolers, but they're air to water intercoolers that are located underneath the lower intake manifold taking up the space in the intake valleys.

the innercooler is quite important for performance with the charger, you can get more air in the engine if its cool. remember cold air contracts, hot air expands. i love this stuff, i really do

Hello Mr Sunshines 🌞 sorry, my comment to you, became way to long. And my point is written in the end, in the bottom of the text, so you can just jump over most of this, and just read my ending, Best wishes for and for all others reading this! I hope you are well, and your family, are happy with your life’s. ! I see you also commenting years after the video came out. So if I write something months after you wrote this, maybe you will see this. First excuse me for my English, it’s far away from my first language. So I have to use many of the words, that my iPad presenting for me, to choose from, I get often 3 words to put in, so if I have many words written wrong, it’s my iPad’s fault. But in the cases I actually was going to write the word Which, but the iPad came up with the word Witch. I got a problem, because if I tried saying those words, they sound the same. But I did know that one of them was the word for the women flying on their broomstick 🧹. But which was witch 🧙♀️. When you see me write so clumsy, sorry, try to understand what I wanted to say, I guess most of you are smart enough to understand that for a person who haven’t English as first language, or as mother tongue. It’s not as easy as you may think. For others, that are bilingual! You know it’s hard to learn a new language when we get older, the brain was only tuned to learn all languages in the world,. Ok now I have started on something completely different, and I took a completely wrong turn some place. Ok I see I repeat my self all to much in the text below. But I don’t bother to correct what I have written. Because Because that always end up with me delete the hole thing, and I must start over. Well son please I have corrected my self, you will see the results don’t do it better in any form or way. Hello Mr Sunshine 🌞 Not to prove you wrong or anything. But you either don’t understand how we think about this, or you do understand, but you will be a provocateur and will only point out that you have technical right, because Turbo Charges and prochargers are different. But you can’t say, with facts on your side that turbos and prochargers are completely different as you say. The technology is either belt driven ore the car’s ecosystem drive a impeller that compresses air, that’s being forced into the cylinder and that means the engine will get more air and therefore it’s possible to use more fuel in the cylinder, and that’s what gives the engine power, You know! The opposite of the engine gets the air forced in, the engine “sucks” the air in to the cylinder bay the action of the pistons goes down,. I would argue that the function of them both are the same, and from The impeller bit on a turbo, and a compressor and into the cylinder, they are almost as similar as it is possible to be, without be the same. So HOW WILL YOU ARGUE Will : that the function of a compressor and a Turbo are “completely different” as you stated, In what way are the Impeller’s function “completely different “ as you say When the compressor compress air with more force than what the engine managed to suck in by the mechanical action, The air and fuel ratio will have more volume than the engine that suck the air in, and the hole point with BOTH the compressor and the Turbo, is to press a bigger volume of air into the cylinder. The boost made by a turbo will first be truly useful, first after the engine has started to push out more exhaust that spins the fan and then the impeller will be most efficient the more exhaust being forced out of the engine and then spin the fan, and the impeller pushes even more air in, that make the boost go even more and more up. So technically if the parts would hold, the turbo engine makes more and more power the more we let the pedal stay on the floor. Therefore there must be wants that let the boost stop at a chosen “bar” I believe 6 to 10 pounds per square inch, and we cal that for psi. Using a turbocharger correct gives this result: We ad the atmospheric pressure to the boost, and the atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14’ psi, so as we can see The Turbo regulated to 10 psi, the turbocharger will then have over 100,000 RPM to achieve that kind of psi, But the result is what we are after, and we we can see how the Turbo almost put the double volume of air into the engine, so we the make the conclusion that the turbo almost Doubled the power of the engine. So how much boost does a normal supercharger make. Well a supercharger can spin at 40,000 to 70,000 rotation per minute, “RPM”. And the manufacturers say that high RPM makes between 6 to 7-8 to 9 PSI. Plus the atmospheric pressure. I would say the supercharger then almost doubled the engine power, at the same Psi level as a Turbo. In my book, it seems like both the Turbo and the Supercharger makes the same maximum effect. They so different that if we only could se both only from the air intake side, and block out the back half, (the drive side) I guess only you Mr Sunshine 🌞 would be able to see which was the Supercharger, and which is the Turbo. Car manufacturers uses many different words to describe these things. Mercedes Benz writes on their cars, Compressor. American cars uses supercharger for the same thing. Some write Turbo on the car, others use only T, for turbo as Audi, TDI. Again, others may think different and write not only Turbo, but they write the full function and That sounds almost like supercharger, not so alike after all, the write Turbocharger. So they both are this “charger” thing, but one write Super,, in front of the “charger” and the other write Turbo in front of this “charger “ The compressor h

The reason you want cold air is because hot air particles expand wich means that only a certain amount of particles can fit into the combustion chamber meaning that when it gets ignited, it will not expand very much because it is already hot. But if it is cold the particles are compacted and when the combustion chamber ignites the air with the gas and spark plug the cold air will expand more and push the piston harder creating more performance. Their is very little chance that hot air will cause an engine to explode, it may overheat but not excessively. Without an intercooler you could probably get away with a 30 minute drive before you engine overheats and starts smoking. Just trying to be helpful, no hate. Thanks :)

According to the tech sheets, I've been reading the great advantage of the design is that the air is under low pressure but it is the speed of the air that provides the increase in the volume of air. You say it is compressing, do explain?

A high latency system. There is a time delay between the engine demanding an increase in air flow, and being given it, by the length of the conduit as it comes from the cone filter, through the supercharger, down through the intercooler and up to the throttle body.

I do like procharger so don't take this the wrong way but Vortect does offer an intercooler and always has for years. The had one of the first racing intercooler back in the 90's called the Mono. It was located on top of the motor and was water cooled. They were big and kinda ugly but they worked. I know because I ran them. Also you don't need an intercooler on a street style supercharger set up. It doesn't put out near the heat of a race blower or turbo. That's why vortech did really push them back then on street kits. Do they help yes but it's just not as much as you think on a small unit. Unless your running more then 10psi it's not worth the money. Turbo cars yes it's a must at any boost level because of all the heat from exhaust. I just hate seeing people waste money on shit they don't need.

two things I don't understand with these.. 1- why do they get so hot? if it's not exhaust driven, I wouldn't think temps would be so high. 2- is it possible to mount this direct to the crank? why use belts?
@bttlemge4328 жыл бұрын
1) with such efficiency to make boost compared to a positive displacement supercharger, there will be heat, that's why you typically see inter coolers with centrifugal supercharger 2) simplicity, you normally see direct crank centrifugal superchargers on drag cars
@GuytheCarGuy7 жыл бұрын
Intercoolers don't do anything for engine heat. They are not tied into the cooling system in any way. IF anything, they further increase under hood temps by 1) blocking frontal air flow, and 2) intercoolers serve to compress the air mass which ends up making more HP. The More HP you make, the more heat is produced as a by product. ProChargers make significantly more HP than most comparable trimmed roots or twin screw blowers. They also run at higher boost levels... which again, is moving a lot more total air volume (colder air + more boost) and the exhaust gets much hotter... mainly because the volume of air is greater + the power produced is greater. So, you have more heat and more heat carrying air.
@allenmitchell78616 жыл бұрын
Is it like.forced induction
@alexjdm24225 жыл бұрын
This is forced induction. Since the engine uses something to shove more air into it, this is what you call forced induction. Turbos and the ,,normal” roots and twim screw superchargers are also parts that force air into the engine. The engines which don’t use these blowers are called naturally aspirated or NA.

+Rudy Mechekoff no blowers were called blowers back when you could take a 671 off of a Detroit diesel and put it on a gas engine.don't know exactly how old you are but I never heard super charger until the belt driven turbo style came about.blowers were always the ones that sat on the intake
@Pallehz8 жыл бұрын
Dean Nederhoff Superchargers have always been called superchargers. Blower is a nickname for Supercharger. The only other thing people called Superchargers formally is compressor. I always call Superchargers, blowers but they have always been called Supercharger or compressors. Not sure exactly when "blower" became an informal term for Supercharger. as far as your "Superchargers being called Prochargers" statement goes; A Procharger is a Supercharger but a Supercharger isn't necessarily a Procharger. Procharger is just a brand. No one refers to any Supercharger as a Procharger, it has to be specific. Kenne Bell and Whipple specialize in Twin Screws and Magnuson and Eaton specialize in Roots type blowers and Procharger and Vortech specialize in Centrifugal blowers.
@GuytheCarGuy7 жыл бұрын
Well, in 1953, Studebaker was using centrifugal superchargers in some of their cars. In WWII, The P-38 Lightning had 2 turbo supercharged engines (yes, it had a turbocharger and a supercharger on each engine). So, the term "supercharger" is most definitely not new. I'm thinking your not knowing the lingo is likely a regional thing. I'm no spring chicken, but we've always called them superchargers in Florida. In parts of Canada, they call turbos "boosters." So, if your community calls them something different... eh? Dunno, but "supercharging" has been around in some form or fashion since the 1870s.
@Pallehz7 жыл бұрын
Guy Gordon motors with Turbo chargers and Superchargers on the same application is called "Twin Charged" Usually generates boost down low with the Supercharger and then switches to the Turbo in the later RPM band to keep a higher boost average through the power band. It's very expensive to Twin Charge a motor because of the complexity in tuning and installation.
@Chadmorris90baby9 жыл бұрын
Isn't a supercharger more safe than a procharger?
