Easiest way to understand this is - think of the diaphragm as a pendulum/weight suspended from the black bar. When the pressure within the diaphragm increases or decreases it affects the way the black bar behaves. So as the airplane climbs, pressure decreases which lightens the weight within the diaphragm . This simply causes the black bar to swing up which is reflected by the needle within the VSI. !!! :)

Lately these videos are too rushed. Too short. The habit of starting to verbalize a *closely related thought* , only to tease another video is annoying (especially when there is no link to it). Simply extend these video so viewers aren't turned off by having to unnecessary context switch to another video. These micro videos are too short.
