This is video on working of a Class A Amplifier and some of its variations.
The input signal is first filtered to remove any DC in it, then it is biased such that the signal stays in the active region of the transistor so that the current through the base is amplified at the collector, with amplification depending upon the gain of transistor and the resistors, at last the voltage at the collector is passed through the capacitor to remove the DC and provide the amplified input signal at the output.

Wow, this video was amazing! You explained the concept of amplifiers so clearly and concisely, with great examples and diagrams. This is by far the best explanation I have found on the internet. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I am curious, where did you learn all this stuff? Do you have any book recommendations for someone who wants to learn more about electronics?

if either of you feel like being informative, why do people use AC wallwarts and rectifiers/regulators to produce dual rail PSU for opamps? from studying theory (i have yet to blow up my parts) it seems that this transistor amp can boost the voltage, then a resistor divider can provide a negative rail without ripple. no one ever answers my question why people use a circuit that introduces ripple instead.

would you explain how the emitter resistor provides negative feedback in detail?
@ExplorerStuff
@ExplorerStuff 3 жыл бұрын
Lets say, Emitter resistor is 1k ohm (Re = 100 ohm). Now, when 50miliamp (I = 0.05 A) current flows through Re, by Ohm's Law, voltage across Re will be V = I*R = 0.05 * 100 = 5V. So, if one end of resistor is grounded, the end will rise to 5V, so that, 50 milliamp of current flows through resistor. If there was no Re, and when the transistor turns on (Assuming zero resistance from transistor), Rc will be connected to ground, thus 0 V at the output. But if there was Re, The maximum Rc can drop to will be 5V. The voltage drop depends on current, so as current increases in Rc, Rc tries to pull the output low, now the same current flows through Re, and Re tries to push the output high, thus providing the negative feedback.

which parameter determines beta of the transistor ?
@ExplorerStuff
@ExplorerStuff 3 жыл бұрын
β (beta) of a transistor is the gain or amplification of the base current to collector's current when the transistor is in the active region. And, A transistor is made up of two PN junctions, an emitter junction and a collector junction. The active region is when the emitter junction is forward biased and the collector junction is reverse biased. So, beta depends on materials, doping, construction of the transistor.
