That was exactly what I needed on this day of I'm too sore and exhausted to practice physically. As somebody who seems to be slowly recovering from ill health (a western diagnosis of anxiety/panic/PTSD), I can wholeheartedly support the idea that yoga is an ancient system of psychology. Also a joy to hear my teacher's teacher say it, thanks Gregor. And thanks to you Adam for working from your heart : )

I loved so much listening to this profound dialogue. I did not except you both could go so deep in asking and answering. I would love to point out what stroke me most: swadharma, our own personal duty. For years I have been asking to myself: what all this morning practice for? Can’t be just to feel good and nice, or strong and healthy. It can be hard and difficult to find an answer, and we can’t see what we are called for. I believe now all the practice is a preparation for something bigger which can suddenly happen to us, like a illness of the ones we love, parents, sons, sisters. It is given to us then the opportunity to act, to service, to help. Or could be the ability the others see in us to teach, or the possibility to spread awareness saving life, like animals. We can serve in many ways, every one in different ways, according to the own destiny ( the divine voice as Gregor said). Be ready and awake in recognising what we are called for. About yoga and mental health I admit I wish I could hear more! Bravissimo Adam you picked up this subject. Gregor at some point was referring to some concept of G. Jung, about shadow and the feminine and masculine inside us, I did appreciate it. The practice is to me the best way to integrate it in us, animus and anima. No need to project in others anymore if you do practice. But what about kundalini and psychosis? Jung wrote an essay on it, yoga kundalini. Something to me difficult to understand btw. Hope you can gift us with another conversation with Gregor, you both together are amazing.

Thanks Lucia. I agree with your ideas of practice - for practice is the cultivation of equanimity, and this only can be understood when we really understand the duality it life and it’s inherent suffering . I do like Jungs’ work. Another discussion on Jung would be very interesting.. Glad you enjoyed the chat 🙏

As an Indian, I have absolutely no problem of cultural appropriation/doing asanas for physical/bodily improvement. Until the practices themselves are not misused and produce any side effect, one should not have the problem of any modifications..

When you watch Ayurveda The Art of Being, you will realize that the treatments for mental health include a whole lot of different treatments like Abhyanga massages, Panchakarma cleansing etc and asana. In the same time i have to tell you that i became professional dancer, before yoga, because it was the only thing that made me happy and stopped my anxiety. So may be for some people only physical practice may help. Later on i went 10 yers to the psychanalist. Swadyaya is doing very well know, but for that you need to be calm
