What the British government did do however was pour billions into trying to find a vaccine that has saved far more than covid killed. My next door neighbour moved into the house next to ours' in the Summer of 2020. First thing we heard of her was that both she and her husband had Covid. Her husband didn't move in, he was in a care home for respite care, caught it, and gave it to her. He died without ever setting foot in his new home.
