How about including what it's made of, how it's detonated, who invented it, what its used for, and why it's better than gunpowder or a big firecracker?

You explained nothing about Dynamite itself.Just saying it has Nitrogen from Nitroglycerin in it does not make it dynamite. Many explosives have nitrogen compounds in them.Nitroglycerin is very prone to exploding from impact alone.How does Dynamite make it safer?How is it detonated? It's not like igniting gasoline.A video with little info. Please,you can do better.

He actually doesn't say that dynamite has nitrogen from nitroglycerin. His wording suggests that dynamite and nitroglycerin are two completely unrelated things. He says, "Lots of things have nitrogen in them aside from dynamite. TNT, nitroglycerin...." He only alludes to "the chemical" in dynamite. Videos like this are so frustrating for people who are completely new to the topic, because they go from a state of ignorance to a state of error, confusion, or at best, remain ignorant.

Then why make the freaking video? I'm trying to find out info for a novel. I have no desire to even touch the stuff myself. I tend to stay away from things that go boom because I'm not knowledgeable. And, frankly, that's ridiculous. There's all kinds of reason for knowing about dynamite besides nefarious ones. I'm surprised he only came up with the two. Mining, construction, removing tree stumps - doesn't have to be used for blowing up safes or terrorist reasons, ffs.

Hmmm, going into the complex chemistry of nitrogen wasn't the goal of this video. You are right, dynamite is based off of nitroglycerin, and it's also deceiving on how he says that the presence of oxygen makes it a better explosion. I'm pretty sure that he knows in reality what's happening. There is obviously similar chemistry in ammonium nitrate. The point is that he wants to make a generalisation that many explosives feature nitro groups as a vital ingredient. Otherwise my friend, you're right

You do know dinomite is just nirtogliserin and diotomic earth The microscopic shells in diotomic eath helps to separate the molecules of nirtogliserin making it more impact resistant. Dont think of it as a tube though, more like a cinnamon roll the paper being the dough and the diatomic Earth and nitroglycerin being the cinnamon. Thats why you need a great enough force to set it off, blasting cap, or posibly just shooting it. Thats why nitroglycerin wasn't used as much becouse dinomite was just as powerful but can also be touched with going off. Todays more complex explosives like C4 and semtex need a percussion and heat to detonate.

@Braydan789

Nitro glycerin is unstable and will go off if you hit it with a hard object, but dynamite is a lot safer because the nitro glycerin is soaked up by a paper and makes it harder to accidentally go off.

I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about. First, dynamite is mostly nitroglycerin, this is why it explodes, and the rest of the chemical makeup is there to keep the nitroglycerin somewhat stable. Second, Nitrogen (which is inert in its pure form) is in nitroglycerin as nitrogen dioxide. Nitrogen dioxide is weakly bonded together and this is why the oxygen can easily escape to fuel reactions, unlike water (H20) which is in a strong bond and doesn't explode when you set it on fire.
