Hey There!
I was having so much fun I had to turn the camera on. I'm LOVING how these turned out. In this video I'll show you how I made lots of stencil/masks using just a hot glue gun. Then the real fun begins as I try them out on my gel plate with just a few acrylic paints. For this printing session I'm using Japanese rice paper for all the pulls. Here's a link to the paper I used. It's a little heavier than the last batch of rice paper I purchased and I really like this one because this thicker paper doesn't wrinkle:

I declare at this time, you need never express your comfort level regarding color choices. I absolutely LOVED every single one of your pulls. There were a few times I thought your next choice of color was w-r-o-n-g and I WAS PROVED WRONG EVERY TIME!!!!!!! I believe you have an inate talent for color choice and I bow before you!

#replay beautiful outcome! btw, a heat gun definitely wouldn't be recommended and will quickly ruin homemade gel plates even from a distance but a hairdryer on "cool" (most have a button or setting for this) is safe and will never damage your plate.

Thank you! And thank you for sharing your advice about homemade gel plates and heat guns. I use mine all the time (at a distance and constantly moving) with my commercial gel plates and have never had any issues...but maybe my heat gun isn't very hot. ☺️

@@darlenegreen1089 The color I think you're referring to was not added to the glue. It's just a result once you use them on your gel plate with paint. They were glue stick color until I used them. Thanks for watching! 🥰

Gorgeous papers...I like to add acrylic inks to my acrylic paints on the plate, creates some beautiful effects, however, I can't wait to incorporate metallics after watching you create.

Thanks for sharing.. a tip for 41:44 for example... if you want to pull that paint causing a white spot , don't pull the paper from the plate any further: put some acrylic medium onto that paint with a brush or your fingers, put back the paper and leave to settle it onto the paper just as with a normal print .. it will fill the white gap.

I have that round tool and I use that on large items I have glued down to smooth them out also. The papers were all turning out so pretty!

You are very good at gelli printing, Sherri! I've tried it a few times but without success. This looks very contemporary, which seems like a different direction for you. I like it.

Thank you Genaveve. Yes I like trying lots of different styles. I guess I've always been a bit eclectic. I hope you'll keep trying. It's lots of fun and very addictive and forgiving. You can always just keep adding layers until you get something you're happy with. Just beautiful. Gonna try with some wet strength tissue paper as well as rice paper. Goal will be to cut each & use as card fronts. Thanks for your demo of so many beautiful color combos!

Will definitely be trying some glue stencils like these. And did you know that if you create a texture on your brayer by going over your stencils/masks/texture items while you’ve got wet paint on your brayer, you can transfer the texture & paint further down your gel plate or onto some roll off paper. Although if you do it on paper, make sure you’ve got a few folded sheets underneath your roll off sheet to get the best transfer 😊

Hi Allison. Thank you and yes I have done that with my brayer. I just love playing with my gel plates and trying out different ways to transfer. There's so much to learn. I'm just about to upload a long introduction to a new in depth series on making stencils. Another rabbit hole I've fallen down...😆

I love what you did. I have made these hot glue stencils in the past. Just made my first gelliplate and hope to be able to use it end of the day but will start with oxide inks.

Thank you. I love that you made your own gel plate. I bought the ingredients but haven't tried making my own yet. I also have not tried using oxide inks on my gel plate so I'll have to remember that next time I play with it. 🥰

Yes, the Speedball brayer is made just for this .... printing. I've been using one for a few years and love it.

Hi Judy. Thanks for watching and for your comment. I figured as much....I had bought my Speedball brayer years ago to get the bubbles out when collaging so that's all I had used it for. It's in pretty rough shape from not cleaning it so I have a set of other brayers for printing. 🥰

@@heartandsoulfuldesign The metal surface really isn’t easy to clean, so I don’t worry about it. Whatever residue there is normally dries. I use it for my mono printing and it never smears the back of the paper. Thanks for your video!
