Keep working man. I promise it’s the best feeling when you can start doing things normally, even if you can’t play sports. It’s surprising how easy some activities are even if you just started doing them. I’m about 4 1/2 months post op now and I started sprinting about 3 weeks ago. It’s crazy how only after 5 days of sprinting it’s possible to be faster than before. A big difference in my case is that I’m 13, so I recover much faster than normal. Good luck with your recovery man.

Am I right in concluding that because a new graft grows back in place of the torn ACL, the option of autograft: hamstring or patella and allograft, doesn't really matter? Because they all die anyway and as previously stated, get replaced by a new ACL? ?

Abhishek Hegde I think it’s because you didn’t have enough pre-OP recovery and physiotherapy. I tore mine on August 21st and I’m getting my OP on 23rd November. Physiotherapy and conditioning is crucial to recovery. My best guess is that your knee didn’t have time to adapt the surrounding muscle to stabilise without your acl. Bare in mind I’m 6’1 and 140KG but I can stand on my damaged knee quite well and walk, just can’t run. My advice is what my doctors tell me, plenty of rest, some light exercises based on your physiotherapist recommendation and ice the swollen knee plenty of times throughout the day.

Went under surgery again and here I am 18 months after. I want to play sports again but not sure if I can. My recovery was not extraordinary. Now I want to put 100% effort on getting stronger and more flexible, at least on my legs. Is there any chance for me to play recreational soccer again?

The best thing that helped me with the pain is to be able to completely straighten your leg. What i did first is lay a pillow under my heel and than i lay down while gravity does the work of straighten my leg. Start gentle but your should be able to straighten the leg after a few days at the earliest. The second thing i do is while sitting on a chair i kick my leg out and have my heel touch the ground while my toes are facing up. I let the leg straighten with the help of gravity and than i gently place one hand and cup above the knee joint and gently oscillate the knee down and up. I did the first excersize while i was at home and the second one anytime i couldn't lay down. I did them once an hour for long durations. Start maybe for 1 minute and than extend it into 10 min. REMEMBER. Do everything based on pain. Pain is your guide.

Little pain would be there I had ACL surgery before 7 months before still I cannot walk properly with full straight leg I cannot raise leg with full stretch bcoz of the weakness of quadriceps So I would suggest you that everything will be done by the physio your knee bending will be good everything but the quadriceps(the lower thigh portion) you only have to make it strong you only have to put strength bcoz if the quadriceps will not gain strength then if you will walk then also you cannot staright your leg properly there would be pain when you walk.

Don't get acl surgery, it will end your career. Just workout and get stem cell treatments. I suffer from the mistake of acl surgery everyday.

Please don’t spread uneducated nonsense. Everybody is different, and a complete rupture will not mend without surgery, stem cell treatments wouldn’t work for that as stated on their website.

Beach Girlie you’re right, but ACL surgery won’t really help you all that much. Once your ACL tears you’re forever half the athlete you would have been.
