Walking history of digi. Fascinating! I do what he's talking about with essential oils. Ive been vibing with Tahitian vanilla, peppermint and frankincense lately in an ultrasonic diffuser ! It goes really well with modern jazz and vintage rock. I use lighting too. Stargate cast upon the ceiling&walls. Colors, music and light connecting with the most influential sense of all , the Sense of smell. Beware though essential oils can get quite expensive! I have this in the evenings for dessert! Mikey, thank you for the interview. It is great to hear the minds behind the digital revolution. Now let's get that c-wave in line filter to market, ha ha.

Awesome story. I would have liked to hear from Andreas how DSD sounds better than PCM and to see and hear his rig. Maybe that's in the next video, I hope. Thanks for the interview Mikey.
@OCDHIFiGuyАй бұрын
Andreas does not stay inside when he is in the swiss mountains. ;-) and he's not interested to convince anyone of anything. These guys know enough to know what's true and nothing else matters. Why are analog masters archived using DSD and not PCM ? You heard Mark Levinson say DSD was closest to Analog and he's created a chip to "fix" PCM since it 's such a deleterious format. Andreas DACs transcode all PCM to DSD and use a proprietary algorithm to mimic human hearing. So you're either into it or you are not, as a listener. Nobody really cares what you choose. (I'm not being cheeky, I'm just being direct with my communication, hope u get that..🙂 )

The concept sounds very principled, not much hocus pocus, the concept of creating a track whereby all the freq's hit within the ceiling at an economic level> without losing the tracks rythm inmpulsive behavour etc, thi in thes is what low level music should sound like for any track> most tracks do not have an economy> they're spent too much the low end, and it tends to muffle the high freq's...these type of freq irregularities requires the volume be increased tp hear the high freq's> all streaming tracks have a voicing which in the studio is energy levels per ... when they master to streaming, they reduce the sound stage energy levels at the expense of making it sound better on small earphones etc.
@shingdazАй бұрын
to be able to hear all the high and lows and midbands all clear and dicsernable at low volumes, is what all well mastered tracks should have, the issue is sometimes the tracks becomes too quiet, to get all freq's in a certain gap whereby the do not exceed 0 etc...if thee track is not energized from the mix itself, the concept yeilds a low volume track, even a limiter to energze the track louder is only pressing the soundstage to incoherent form. Whereby a high powered amp could play the track loud and clear, its weak footprint for whatever reason is not an issue,
@shingdazАй бұрын
also, most music does not scale well, that means> an mp3 track will blast the stoundstage / audio up to -1 db @ -20 volume input> as the volume is truned up to 0 db> the track is already hitting +10> at the point the vectoring of the voltages casues the tracks voltages to sizzle, affecting audible distortion, this is not a concept of a well balanced audio for music lstening> it is a nitrus infused track that plays well on low wattage systems that do not have enough wattage to play loud etc

I still use a Sony SCD-1 player and it's only needed minor servicing in the past 25 years. To my old ears all modern CD player sound too harsh and fatiguing. If I had the scratch, I'd buy a Playback Design but, in the meantime, I'll stick with my Sony.
@OCDHIFiGuyАй бұрын
Yes, I don't like CD player at all.
@Metranger-xd4btАй бұрын
Interesting! So with the MPD-8 AI and a turntable, you are able to eliminate the Preamplifier. You'll still need a phono preamp connected to the tonearm cables, yes? Then connect the phono preamp to the MPD-8 AI.
@OCDHIFiGuyАй бұрын
Correct. It allows you to eliminate the preamp. You'll still use the phono pre of your choice, though now the DAC can control your phono volume as well..
