My prediction for how this skit will go: "Hey, so I'm too lazy to finish writing my book. I've got pretty much all of the world-building laid out, but I haven't really developed a group of characters to focus on." "What a coincidence. Me and my acquaintances have a few made-up characters that we love, but no setting to place them. Why don't you let us place our characters in your world and do whatever they want?" "But what if I don't want them to do certain things?" "Roll off?" "Roll off!"

Part of the 80's and 90's devil scare in the US. All started from some jackass making up a story about daycares practicing satanic cult worship and using the children in there practices and even indoctronating them... all made up but presented as nonfiction when published. It started the satanic scare in the US and led to many established crazies. Such as the people putting things into your candy at halloween so check your candy (despite it not ever being a thing) and of course the famous D&D is devil worship. Which led to mass banning and bookburnings. Good times.

At least in Star Wars we are better by simply NOT being a green pigman, furry cyclops, tailhead with teeth, fish face named after squid, goatmouth with three eyes, flying tusker with little frog feet, stunted slime, walking carpet, the Nerf that is Herded, a cute cannibal teddy bear, long neck cloner who can snap and end their life from the whiplash of running, mouth of drooling jowls that seem cut off viciously, with matching elephant ears fused to the head and mouth smaller than the jowls, an always hidden 3.5 ft glowing yellow eyed man of mystery who is a scrap scavenger, or so hideous we hide our face and hide our numbers in single file or else all are killed, and not just the men, but the women, and the children. Or a beaver toothed, duckbilled, floppy batears, who jumps like a frog, swims like a loser, with shrimpy eyestalks, who goes blrrrhrrr, and Bombad because that can both be Bombad, and bomBad! Being Basic in Star Wars saves us. Except from being a fat, sluggy, ugly Hutt. Because they are so fat blaster fire struggles to get through, are indigestible to most creatures, can regenerate so well even half their brain and head at a time, immune to most poisons and radiation, can live for a thousand years, eats anything, can reproduce without a mate, and are actually quite strong in the end for a giant serpentine slug. Also, typically wealthy, powerful, and controlling other beings by knowledge, schemes, and some raw might and vileness. Luxurious living with everything of the underworld. Yeah, Humans escape being anything except a Hutt

At risk of ruining a joke, iirc it did have similar origins but I believe the original goal was to make a smaller scale fantasy war game, something you can see in the OD&D rules, but became more about roleplaying with Advanced D&D, although this is more speculation on my part based on a few tidbits and looking at OD&D rules

Fun fact, the warlock class was added into the game in the 3.5 supplement _Complete Arcane,_ released in 2004. They were then added as a standard class in -4e in 2008- 5e in 2015.

It evolved more from wargames where minis represented armies or groups of soldiers. Gygax came up with the idea of making each mini representing one person with specific skills.

I read an actual biography of Gary Gygax a few years ago, which of course had a lot about how Dungeons and Dragons started. It was pretty interesting.

I have an idea for a character. The character is a warlock, but thinks he's a wizard. He gets spellbooks and wizard gear from his friend whose secretly a really weird God (who mainly doesn't like being treated as a god). And that's their pact. Character keeps getting confused why his abilities work differently from other wizards.

Hey! So similar to when you made how the Triforce was invented and then went on to explain the most annoying mechanic in Windwaker. Wow, you've come so far. I remember that night I tuned in to your stream on Twilight Princess. My brother had just gotten into the game, and who could have guessed I would end up regularly watching your streams on KZfaq as DudaFilms? Time flies when you're having fun. Glad to see you're doing well. ~ SS
