In this video, I'll share my reaction to my first time playing Dungeons & Dragons by Jaiden Animations.
Dungeons & Dragons is an amazing roleplaying game that's been around for decades. After playing this game for the first time, I quickly realised how much it has shaped my perspective and outlook on life. I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants to have a fun, exciting and unique experience!

About the "Depression" spell, it wasn't a spell of itself, it was a Command spell. The DM stated that it could be anything, as long as it's one word. Usually people say things like Fear or Sleep or something like that, but Jaiden goes straight for destroying all of his hope.

@@katisbest5159 It's a first level spell (many classes could literally start off with it at Lv1), so there are a lot of restrictions on low level spells like that such as they can't do anything knowingly and intentionally harmful. Also, everything (not just spells, literally everything in the game) is subject to "At the DM's discretion" so the DM can easily say "I'm not going to allow that" and either have the player pick another command or say they wasted their spell slot and their turn.

There are also only five or so words that you’re actually technically allowed to use in the first place, and they have standardized effects. Charlie, the DM, made Command to be much more powerful than normal by allowing it to be any one word and not just one from the list.

@@katisbest5159 In 3rd edition D&D, the spell description actually addresses this: "A command of 'Die' causes the subject to fake death". Aside from that, in all editions the command is supposed to be a verb, so a noun like "Depression" shouldn't work. But in certain circumstances you could use "Lament" or "Regret" and probably get something similar.

The "Depression" command isn't a spell in and of itself. The command spell allows you to yell out a word and the target is forced to do that action their next turn. So when Jaden yelled "Depression", Mark Tompson was forced to do a 'depression" action that turn. Usually this spell is for things like "flee" or "surrender" or 'leave' or something like that. Really any action that is one word can be used.

And being this is jaidens first time she thought that a mace was actually pepper spray.

The bad part is that because people homebrew so much stuff into D&D, it didn't even occur to me when watching the video that the mace spray was weird. It's not even that hard to put in. Mace Spray: DC 15(?) Constitution save (potentially at disadvantage if they're not expecting it) or the target is blinded for 1d4 rounds. Number of uses and availability decided by the DM. There you go. lol

Mace IS pepper spray. Technically it’s a name brand for pepper spray, but people use both terms interchangeably.

Acording to slimecicle Jaiden was playing as a dragonborne warlock with a magic tongue tattoo where all her spells come from. Which is why the spells come from her mouth.

14:40 she's a wizard or a warlock so she can use scream but the acid breath is a dragon born thing (depending on draconic ancestry)

Warlock. She had a devil bird patron (not shown in this video) and her seal was on her tongue.

Acid is more of their Dragonic Ancestry. Depending on what color of the scales, here's as it follows: Red & Brass Dragonborns breaths Fire Silver & White Dragonborns breaths Cold Black and Copper Dragonborns breaths Acid and lastly, Green Dragonborns breaths Poison The magic that she used was Shatter, Warlock's 2nd level spell since Slime, the DM, made her started out as LVL3.

Gold Dragons also have fire breath. Gold & Reds have a Cone of Fire, while Brass has a Line of Fire. So Gold & Red Dragons can cover a wider area with their fire breath.

So with the pepper spray, Jaiden saw "mace" on the weapons table and assumed it to the peper spray and not the medevil wepon.The DM didnt realize the misunderstanding until at the table and just went with it.

A few weeks ago I played dnd for the first time. It was a one shot and we all played as kobolds. We had to preform on stage to get information about a rat we'd been following and I was chosen to go on stage as a pre-show while the others got ready. My character found some drums and started tap dancing drunken sailor on them, I rolled a 17 on performance and the crowd loved my act more then the main act, it was awesome!

Something Jaiden left out was her bird familiar that was a demon or something, and while the other two where fighting the goblins she was making a deal with it.

Yeah, DMs who incorporate backstory into the campaign are the best! In the last campaign I played, which we finished just a couple of weeks back actually, our DM took our character backstories and designed the entire campaign around them, so it was really engaging!

Jaiden plays as a Warlock Dragonborn who's arcane focus is the tattoo on their tongue, so they cast all their magic with their mouth.

@@bluegastrodon1812 I didn't watch it either, didn't even know there was a stream. But I did watch Slime's reaction to Jaiden's video where he shared some of the details that Jaiden skipped in her animation. Don't think he mentioned the others' specific races and classes but from Jaiden's animation I'd assume they were a human fighter and a tabaxi bard respectively.

I started a Pathfinder campaign on Sundays over on Discord. It’s a more crunchier rule set and dosn’t have a specific setting except for Golarion. I like to make my own using it and currently making a big one with my friends. Might post a book on it someday.

Dragonborn have a breath atack ( Red=fire, white=ice, blue=lightning, green=poison gas, Black=acid). Don't know anything about that scream atack

If command can be any one word and the enemy has to do it next turn why not cast die and instantly win the battle

Because Command has restrictions on it, where they won't perform an action that will knowingly directly cause self harm. So like if you try to make them "Jump" off a cliff or tell them to "Seppuku" the survival instinct kicks in and the Command fizzles.
