We see Eagles in movies and TV shows all the time. But they are almost never shown with their actual sounds. Please subscribe to continue learning what makes life AWESOME: BioBush.tv/sub...
Eagles make high-pitched whistling sounds and lots of other sounds that wouldn't seem "majestic" enough to depict an Eagle. So sound designers usually use the screech of the Red-tailed Hawk or the roaring hiss of a vulture. Once you know it, you'll start to hear it everywhere.

Which really isn’t that raptor-like which I find funny. Before I hear any raptors’ voice I always assumed it would be fearsome-like to match the bird’s hunting skills and ranking on the pyramid in Nature. Nope!😅

The Iconic screech is actually the Bald Eagle’s Voice Actor The Red tailed hawk It’s because When we think of Bald Eagles, we think of Strength, encourage and Determination you know? America But in real life, the Eagle sounds too cackly and wimpy Hollywood movie producers realized that in order to Preserve the Eagle’s Majestic Symbolic value, they need to give its voice a makeover

Red-tailed Hawk…for everything, all of the time. My personal fave, both visually and aurally, is the Red-shouldered Hawk; it has a somewhat whiny pueling sound like it woke up cranky and it’s really all your fault. It’s also smaller and when its wings are folded it has a checkerboardish look. Definitely my favorite North American hawk. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-shouldered_hawk

Hi Jacque! I went through a group of calls on xeno-canto and they almost always have fluttering whistles. But I did find a couple that have a longer keening call (xeno-canto.org/769877). You may have heard an unusual sound, which is pretty cool!
@hunted3056

This sounds is actually still an eagle sound. It's just that each kind of eagle sounds a bit different and they also have different "screams" for different situations, like fear, mating, hunting or the noices when they are in the nests. So they more likely scream like that when they are outside of the nest or a calm situation. I dont know a everythjng about these beautiful creatures but thats still something I know You can compare it to us humans with language and communication: we have lots of different languages depending on where we are from and we also have a big vocabulary to communicate with eachother
@BioBush
@BioBush Жыл бұрын
That's a good point, Hunted! Eagles may have a scream that sounds more like a Red-tailed Hawk than their normal whistle. But the sound effect from movies is absolutely just a Red-tailed Hawk. Xeno-canto is a good website to listen to the variety of sounds that each bird makes; I highly recommend it for someone who appreciates birds as much as you do. Thanks for watching!

It's strange to me that for such a musical animal, they'd replace the natural vocalizations with a shrill shriek instead. I suspect this stems from the days when producers had a limited sound library and didn't care about accuracy in films. I've noticed in older productions, background animal noises are often the same and often in the wrong locations. It was just assumed no one would know or care, I guess. Hopefully they'll do better in the future. The Eagle's whistling is so pretty.
