As you stated in your video, it’s another tool in your arsenal. I use both an Ozonics unit in the field and an ozone generator that runs into an air tight tote to treat my clothes before and after hunts. I also utilize a complete personal hygiene system before hunts. It gives me the confidence of knowing I have done everything possible to give myself the best chance of success during my valuable time afield.

I get this. I think so many people think that scent elimination is a replacement, and that's where it goes wrong - it's an adjunct, not a replacement. I wash my clothes in hunting detergent and wash myself with hunting body wash. I'd consider adding an ozone duffle for my gear in case the wind decides to swirl on me :)

I use a house ozone generator used in a confined space with my hunting gear for 6 hours, then I put rubber gloves on and hang my hunting gear outside over night, works like a charm. The key is to keep any scent off your skin before putting your clothes on. The reason I use a home ozone generator is because its way more effective at killing every odor, and at the same time you can use it for your house, its a win win.

A little warning about ozone. I bought two high end ozone units some years back for use in rental property. These are not hunting models, they are rather large units in wooden cabinets, made to look nice in a livingroom or bedroom. My dogs have gotten older and their beds get a small pretty quickly after washing, so I decided to use the ozone in the bedroom where the dog sleeps. I went on vacation and left the unit on for about a week with no fan circulation. When I got home, all my bluejeans were faded out on the outside of the folds where they were stacked on a shelf. Also my denim shirts and natural indigo flannels were faded like I had owned them for thirty years. I haven't used it on camo clothing so I can't comment on that but use caution with your pricey Sitka, First Lite, etc....it may do damage. Check with the manufacturer of your hunting clothing, so as to not end up with an expensive lesson.

Ok so it’s been a while since I saw this video. It’s about 3 years since I’ve been using the ozonics for scent control. I mostly ground hunt and will hang my unit above my head pointed in the down wind direction. I’ve had bucks and does be down wind completely relaxed and unaffected. I’m some instances they will “avoid” my downwind air stream like if there is a gap of corn. They will stop and go back and feed where they were coming from. Some will go around my scent stream and continue further down or closer up, even if it’s like 5-7 yards directly in front of me, wind protected to my advantage. But they avoid my airstream gap. But here is the kicker, they stay. They don’t stomp and blow out in alarm. They just continue to find a more “comfortable” wind to feed in. Last season I had a nice 10 pointer come within like 7 yards downwind of me. He couldn’t see me because I had embedded myself in a huge cactus patch. He didn’t smell me either; he looked in my direction, smelled in my direction looked around a bit then walked off slowly before he came back around in front of me. His initial approach had been from down wind from me and directly behind me. I was surprised when he came within 7 yards at my nine o clock; in the brush, of course, but still. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I could see his rack stick up and turn out of the corner of my eye. He didn’t bust me at all. Never knew I was there. I became a firm believer that day. Like others have said. My sightings of wildlife in general increased exponentially. I like to say in my head the famous “Predator” line…”I seeeee you” and smile. Sure is fun though to insert myself in nature in its most natural setting like if you’re not there at all. Worth every penny.

I decided to make my own ozone unit and used a 500mg/hr generator and 9800mAh battery inside a small plastic ammo can. I treat my clothes in a tote the night before and then carry the unit with me and hang it on a hook above me. I did this because I hunt almost all river bottoms where the wind tends to swirl and it will change from one min to the next. So far I have been very happy with the results.. This year I've had a 10pt, 6pt, 5pt, 4pt, and countless does wander down wind of me and none have spooked enough to blow/stomp and rat me out..

That was a very even handed review of what ozone can do. Appreciate it. What needs to be said it that ozone CAN damage your hunting clothes over time: elastics and more technical fabrics like the HECS suit. So make sure you get informed (by the manufacturer! For example, HECS specifically says not to use ozone) before continuously using ozone on your clothing--especially if you want it to last more that a season.

My dad always taught me to keep my stuff in a plastic tote or a duffle bag with some dirt, leaves, branches, pinecones and i leave hunting clothes outside hung up the night before and he's had deer walk right by or even up to him. I havent had that luck, ive never seen a deer while hunting, only outside of season. But ive had ozone on my mind, i might by one.

If a deer suddenly smells a ton of ozone or any foreign scent do you think that deer is going to be more comfortable or less comfortable? It’s safe to say a new scent in an area that smelled the exact same for the last hundred years is not going to put animals at ease. It’s every bit as likely to announce your presence every time you sit in the stand than is to conceal it! It wouldn’t matter what odor was coming out of any machine. Bring an entire live doe in estrous up in your stand and it wouldn’t matter. To all you people who think you are fooling a deers nose I have some info for you...you aren’t! One of a few things are occurring instead, 1-your scent is not reaching the deers nose(the warmer air coming out of you and off of you rises goes well over deer most of the time of you are elevated)2- The deer you think are directly down wind of you aren’t actually. 3-you get made all the time and never know it! 3 is true more often than you know.

My usual scent control method involves using all scent free soaps a month before hunting season. As well as scent free deodorant. I will wash all my hunting clothes in a hunting brand detergent and have them air out for at least 2 days before I pack them into vacuum seal bags and store them outside in a tote until I hunt. The ozone treatment for me is an in between. Example morning hunt then treat for a few hours and hunt the evening.

I used ozonics for a season and definitely made a huge difference. Ive had a coyote at 25 yds downwind. I shot a big buck with a doe standing downwind at 25 yds. She knew something was up but as much as she tried she could not figure it out. She was directly down wind for 10 minutes while I waited for the buck to step into a shooting lane. Would never have shot him without it. Had moose downwind now hunting at 25 yards. I was very sceptical of them but got a refurbished hr200 for a really good price so gave it a try. Couldn’t count how many different animals downwind and not one blew or ran off. I’m a believer.

Tell you what man, I just bought the Scentlok version of the scent crusher bag. I read tons of reviews and watched a bunch of videos before deciding to make the purchase, and my 35% off for being a vet played a big part in the decision as well. But my thought is, maybe it’ll up my hunting game, maybe it won’t so much... but I’ll get use out of it either way. I live with a couple of smokers and I can’t stand the smell of cigarettes. So that unit is going to get a workout just here around the house! I can’t wait to get it and try it out

Kerry Butler I’ve been using them for 5 years or something and at first they are amazingly efficient . Deer smell the ozone but have never encountered the smell . They actually come strait to the base of your tree to try to find the source of the odor . After a way years of use in the same Area , they get wise . New areas are deadly effective .

I wash my hunting clothes in “scent free ALL detergent” along with “scent free OXY CLEAN” then use dead down wind dryer sheets in the dryer. I take a shower in baking soda and spray my outer layer of clothes down with regular Scent Killer brand scent eliminator before I go hunt. I never have any deer pick up on my scent whether I’m in my tree stand or hunting on the ground. I’ve did this for 30 years and my scent never gets me busted. So I’m gonna pass on the ozone units and maybe buy another stand or two.

The last deer I shot (2018), I still had a lit cigarette in my hand and had to drop it to take the shot from my ground blind setup on the edge of an open farmers field, just say'n. Take all this scent stuff in context, if you're hunting in a farm field or the edges of one, remember, deer see/smell the farmer, his cigarettes/pipe, his tractors, combines, pickup trucks, quads, plus all the noise associated with it everyday and they become use to it so it's not such a big deal to them, if you're hunting deep quite woods, ya maybe then. Sometimes people overthink this stuff.

Yeah I completely agree with you I lived in a very rural area growing up killed deer no problem never even though about sent control washed my cloths with all the rest of the laundry never used sent killer spray. Then I moved to a new state with higher hunter population less public land so the deer are extremely pressured. I started implementing sent control and started seeing more deer now I am going crazy with my sent control and am seeing a regular amount of deer. One thing people forget is pressured deer are a different animal so don’t knock the guy who is trying to get every edge he can. On days with stagnant wind that deer can smell you from all directions he has a nose a lot better than anything we can comprehend. But cover dents don’t work a deer can pick apart all of the smells around him and isolated just one of them

Why don't you tell people that ozone destroys any rubber products it is is exposed to VERY QUICKLY! This will destroy your rubber boots, calls, and anything rubber if it's in any enclosed space with ozone and it will do it fast! Then you have to consider this; If a deer smells the same combination of things in normal amounts throughout their lives, isn't it very likely that a sudden extremely unnatural amount of ozone that was never there before would spook deer the same as any other cover scent that overwhelms them? Deer behave very unpredictability and what spooks them one day might do nothing the next and vice versa. even if ozone eliminates your odor it itself is a very strong odor that never occurs naturally in the amounts that would be experienced by the deer downwind of it.

It depends on what types of plastic/rubber and the concentration of ozone... Some are affected more than others, some are barely affected.. I have been using an ozone generator for over 10 years withe the same Lacrose rubber boots, grunt call, range finder, etc. None of it has been affected...

I just thought you put off that little man syndrome. Have no clue on your size, but could tell just by your demeanor. Couldn’t really tell if you disliked the product, or hated it.
