How Epic Games is Destroying Rocket League

The past couple of months have been some of the worst in terms of the health of Rocket League, and people are angry. Today I am going through every terrible decision Epic Games have made since buying Rocket League, from removing trading to the RLCS 2024 Announcement that has left RLCS fans feeling disgruntled.
In October 2023, Epic announced that they were removing trading from Rocket League. Since then, a wave of bad news has engulfed Rocket League. Rocket Racing so far is a flop, RLCS 2024 has pro rocket league players threatening to quit the game and RLCS fans are threatening to boycott the season. In this video I give my opinions on some of the terrible decisions Epic Games have made since buying Rocket League.

weird take but, wouldn't it be possible rocket league is gonna come back as "rocket league 2" soon. sounds strange but if I remember correctly they want to upgrade the game to UE5. If that is still true, and the fact the games golden age is over with it now dying, releasing this update as a new game "Rocket League 2" could reach to a much wider audience and therefor get more people back to the game.

Main problem was because it wasn't in Rocket League, itself. It never should have been some extra mode in Fartnite. Although, the other main issue was the Fartnite car mechanics and physics. It should have been identical to the workshop maps in RL. Same RL physics, etc.

@@drunkenfist3084 I've played Rocket League since 2015, when rocket racing came out, I tried it, and it is a heaping pile of shit. If they devoted time to actually integrate maybe a different system into rocket league itself, it may be more enjoyable but not everybody can download fortnite to play rocket racing as its a stupidly large game. Learn to write coherent English, and learn what you're talking about before you try to say anything

@@barb0sik having 100% of Psyonix means that while the people is still the same, they need to comply to every epic games request, business decision and development roadmap/ vision of the future. Also, part of the team has probably been slimmed down and put to work on other projects like Rocket Racing, for example, RL Sideswipe...

They gave us UI changes requested for 8 years, but took out a fucking game mode for it. But being in rotation means they’re keeping dropshot updated etc. but said “nah we can’t fit another mode in comp screen. We need our nice little boxes tilted askew.”

5:48 - This was the part I was waiting for. THANK YOU, I was and still am devastated about dropshot. Those morons say they will add dropshot/snow day to the casual playlists now and then depending on the season, but so far dropshot only appeared once and the BIGGEST INSULT? Rumble bloody appeared there the other day, so you could play rumble either casual or ranked, but can't play dropshot. It keeps being utter shite like boomer ball and cube ball dykxktsjysktdktsktzktzgzh ARGGGG. Dropshot is my favourite game mode so now I gotta be depressed 1 season, happy the next, depressed the next, happy the next. Also the L3 screen is broken and says 0 seconds left when checking how much time is left on the casual extra modes. FUCK you epic.

Dropshot plays the same role as heat seeker but does it worse. Still, it is HEATSEEKER that we are talking about. This EM is better than everything else. Like it could be: Heatseeker Dropshot Alternating hoops/snow day But nope. The only extra/limited modes that are really extra modes and not reminiscent of mods can’t have a playlist to themselves, that’s a crime! Edit: I meant that my suggestion should be ranked. Rumble goes casual, because that’s just its nature, too chaotic and rng for ranked.

Dropshot is by far my favorite extra game mode. When I saw it missing I was so pissed. I used to play 2v2 and Dropshot 5-7 times a week. Now, I maybe log on once a week, if that. Oh, and I'd rather play Snowday than Heatseeker, heheh.

Since 2018, Epic is using money generated from Fortnite to organize tournamensts. This shows how the incomes are very bad. Instead of paying more attention, they started cash grabbing method. No new content, new season every 3-4 months with boring customizable items for noobs to equip on their cars and paid cars every 2-3 weeks. For 2 years there is no moderation in this game. It's almost impossible to get banned in game. I remember reporting toxic players getting banned within 48 hours and now these reports go directly to trash bin. Nobody checks them and this is one of the most toxic games. I miss dropshot. This game has huge potential for mods. Imagine playing tennis or volleyball in Rocket League or teqball or even ping pong. That would be amazing. Nevermind, boring basketball and hockey gamemodes are still in game, while maybe 5% of total playerbase is playing them. And Dropshot was maybe 10% and was fun to play. RIP Rocket League.

5:51 woooah woah woah, settle down. Rumble is by far the best extra mode. Dropshot is okay but it's not as good. The things you can do with the powerups in high level Rumble is incredibly fun. Everything about dropshot is just vanilla RL with holes in the floor.

Rumble isn't good, and has so much wasted potential. If you're bad or casual it's fun. If you're at the top level it's fun. Otherwise it's just an absolute fuckfest.

Something that wasn't mentioned: there's no longer 1100 credits available to unlock on the premium Rocket Pass, it's been lowered to 1000. So saving up the extra credits for 2 years to buy a Fennec is no longer possible. Also, servers have gotten 3 times worse this season for no reason.

Spaceman was super hype, had the pleasure of watching him cast several series last year and he brought a very unique and passionate energy to the mix. Was always a fan no matter the pairing. Johnny and Shogun is probably the most goated duo because of Justin's shot, but I'm a big fan of CJCJ and Shogun's casting of the 2023 finals

You did rocket racing dirty. Some maps are pretty complicated and if you enjoy racing against yourself via time trials- it's a blast. You showed two turns in each clip I saw and a straight away but whole tracks are like that.

One thing I felt psyonix did was make events really special. Like you never see good frosty fests anymore. And cool stuff like the stranger things/80s event was so sick. Peak RL. Snow maps never popped up during wintertime or anything anymore either. Lost almost all of its soul.

don't forget that they boosted roughtly 25% of the players 600 mmr when F2P launched and then continue to boost every new account by 600 mmr ever since making rank next to completely meaningless and the game even that much more unplayable

Bruh... I made it to diamond before it got ridiculous. Now every other match in ranked I'm getting smurfs just absolutely thrashing the lobby. 1v1 is legit the only ranked game mode without too many of them. Haven't tried to seriously grind in about 6 months, haven't played at all since they announced RLCS and fired casters.

the mmr system changes I’m talking about compressed the ranks and you probably shouldn’t be diamond yet if you think you are constantly getting smurfed on. a good portion of diamond should be in champ. But that again has to do with a bad mmr system not people smurfing. Did a whole vid on it

@@JCHammer Lol... you might think that. I was reset to plat. It's that bad. I was diamond 2 with champ 1 peak for 3 straight seasons. I beat the diamond and even most champ training packs every season. You are right that it isn't always smurfs, sometimes it's the people the smurfs are being paid by landing on your team in solo queue. Solo queue in and of itself sucks, but all my friends have quit. I exaggerate a bit about the amount of smurfs, but there's truly a lot.

If doing vids is your thing, I'm completely open to putting my skills where my mouth is too. I don't feel like I'm wrong in saying that someone who escaped plat, only to get mired in it again after 3 seasons isn't exaggerating. I don't go for the whole "I deserve a better rank" toxicity either, I actually just want to be in the rank I legitimately earned.

@@x8jason8x the issue is, with the current mmr system there is too much randomness in all the ranks to really say you earned any rank other than bronze or SSL (slight over exaggeration)

Awesome video as always, but heatseeker "just for people who likes to pretend they're good at the game".... Ouch, that hurted mate! Dropshot is my 2nd favorite extra mode, and i like snow day too, hoops I don't like but it's still a rl game, rumble is unbearable. rumble is to RocketLeague what Mario Kart is to racing game. Random games and ranked in the same sentence is an oxymoron, rumble should be a casual-only mode

I wish they would put the game fully in the hands of the community. Some of the best content creators could officiate changes, updates, mode additions, etc. I'm sure you give lethamyr and simple shark a few weeks with the code and they would turn everything around. Epic, you suck. You've ruined my favorite game in the world. And I'm sure when you're done dragging it through the mud, you'll find a way to delete it from our lives permanently. I wish epic never acquired the RL IP... just another corporate takeover gone to waste.

I understand the reasons behind removing dropshot but i still dont agree with it. It was the only mode on the list that actuallt changed the gameplay, the others just changed the shape of the ball or goal. Knockout can be fun but its not skill based at all, anyone who can front flip and use boost is automatically good at it.
