Thierry Henry hadn't scored a single final goal in his career. So I don't know why he's preaching on 'big games'. No disrespect to Henry but he was gifted to have played with 'invincibles' quality players his whole career. And as for his reference to kane "not winning anything", its completely different... Kane plays for Tottenham (a shit team), Haaland plays for a side that has won the league 4 out of the last 5 seasons, and various other trophies. Unless he expects kane to run back a make a shift in defence as well, then I really don't get understand his logic or point when including him in this conversation. Why do you think so many other managers have failed at spurs? Mourinho, Conte, Pochettino. Because they never had the full package; they had 1 or 2, maybe 3 world class players at one point, and then the rest were pretty average, especially compared to some of the sides they had to play in finals, e.g. liverpool in 2019, or chelsea in 2015, or man city in 2021.

Bro, you know your football, I'm a United fan and I said the same thing about Lukaku when he was at United. He didn't play to the strengths of other team mates in big games and that's why he underperformed in most of them, he always waited high up the pitch for his players to either play him through to run on goal or just give him the ball so he could play his usual hold up play. He didn't drop back to start the attacks enough.

Interestingly, this popped up a week after the UCL final. What I noticed in the final, once KDB got subbed off, Haaland barely got to the ball. It was clear to see a massive gap in that midfield that is needed for Haaland to play the way he likes it. Once he learns how to be more adaptive and play more to the style of Silva and Foden, as Titi says, he will be even more lethal. I know this is off-topic, but I don't understand how Haaland is considered the top favourite for Ballon d'Or contention when it's the team and players behind him that make him look so good. Yes, he is a brilliant striker and finisher, but you can see how much of an impact on his game someone like KDB has. KDB and Haaland are at least equals to win the Ballon d'Or imo. Hope KDB gets it, Haaland has 15 years ahead of him to win it multiple times, KDB doesn't.

I think that is exactly the reason why haaland was signed. Because in big games, with fine margins Pep realised you just need someone who can score out of nowhere and you don’t need to rely only on a plan or a specific system. Ultimately, players decide big moments.
@mrhussain9008
@mrhussain9008 Жыл бұрын
He doesn't score out of nowhere though. He scores tap ins. Prime Messi, CR7 and Luis Suarez, Thierry Henry, MBAPPE score out of nowhere. THAT'S the problem with Haaland. He needs his team to put chances on a plate for him to score. Why does he never score goals out of nowhere aka a Long range screamer, dribbling past a player and scoring. When the game is tight, Haaland rarely scores. That's why his record in big away games this season is poor. Liverpool, United, Spurs, Chelsea, Dortmund etc. He needs to stop waiting for the ball to come to him every game, and get the ball from midfielders and make things happen when his team are not clicking. Like Mbappe did Vs Argentina or Messi, CR7, Suarez etc have done many times

It's always ridiculous until you get there. Henry has a certain finesse that Haaland doesn't, and peak Henry is still better than Haaland has been imo as well. But Haaland has a few attributes that Henry does not. It's all about recognising your strengths and weaknesses, and fit that in with the team. That takes time - Henry had a lot of time with Arsenal, so let's see how that works out for Haaland giving him more than a half a year. Everyone looks shit in the wrong setup and vice versa.

Henry and Haaland started playing in the Premier League when they were 22 years old. Here’s some stats: Henry 1st season Premier League 17 goals, 2nd season 17 goals, 3rd season 23 goals, 4th season 23 goals. Haaland still playing 1st season in the Premiere League and already scored 26 goals, and Man City still have 14 more league games to play. Just the facts.

Van Dijk is pretty much over and Saliba is only starting, so who knows...... that's about it...... back then, Man Utd and Chelsea had better defense quality, then current entire PL combined...... the eras are not comparable...... even in UCL...... Henry had to play UCL final against Ronaldinho...... Barcelona NOW, is a complete joke...... take out Lewandowski and that club is laughable (only goes to show how silly LaLiga really is, when they're 1st with this current roster)
@comealsolito804
@comealsolito804 Жыл бұрын
@@aquaescapeartist4915 you guys need to stop with this stats. Stats are facts so they're important, but you can't use them to distort reality to fit your narrative. Henry was much more than goals. He could have scored 5 goals per-season and still would have been considered as one of the greatest. But he also scored a lot, 17 goals in the first two seasons then he always scored more than 20 goals, managing 30 one season and in 2002/2003 he had 24 goals and 23 assists (freakin absurd). Haaland is a beast, but it's obvious that goal scoring is his strenght, you should compare his stats with other goal scorers stats, but you can't compare him with a superb allround world class legend like Titi Henry.

But remember City play as a team they have a lot of quality player who can score goal, they can stop Halaand bc the way he play is predictable, stop the supply to Halaand that will stop him from scoring but not easy to stop him, that is what he said, big game with quality defenders they can stop Halaand.

Very intelligent points. Hope Pep, Haaland, and City aren’t listening 😂 One key point to note I think is that City seem less solid defensively this season. Offensively as good as before but they’re behind Arsenal more because of games when they’ve conceded, not because of 0-0 draws. Man City only failed to score twice this season (1-0 losses away to tough opposition - Liverpool and Spurs) but dropped points in 8 games. Not enough clean sheets. Conceded 3 to newcastle, 2 to man utd, 2 to brentford. Two 1-1 draws which last season I think would have been 1-0 wins. They’re on course to have their worst defensive record since 2016/17 when Chelsea won the league and they came 3rd.

Never forget that the Mission is to score Goals, a team can play Great ball Movement but the hability to score is the most Valuable Skill on the Pitch. See him in Real Madrid and you ll see his Number Exploding like Crazy, he just need a Team that plays well with Real Strikers like Benzema in Real , in any team like this Haaland will have Huge Success.
