It's the same, alcohol sanitizer 70% (spray or gel) is made out of ethanol 200 proof (pure ethanol)

You could drink the straight ethanol it’s basically moonshine. I have to test it all the time at work and it’s 200 proof

Many problems Fermentation releases CO2. Growing corn crops needs agricultural land, fertilizers, , insecticides diesel and pertrol ('gas") for tractors etc. The CO2 captured from sunlight is then "released" at combustion! Does not make much sense!
