NexTech looks at a Turkish company that is preparing to take a leap in the world of exoskeletons. First conceived during the industrial revolution, these robotic suits have graced the big screen and are now moving on to the battlefield as well as hospitals and factory assembly lines. We look at how exoskeletons, a combination of mechanical precision and human ingenuity, is opening up endless opportunities in our daily lives.

Yes, we are robots. Very interesting. Need knowledge about anthropometrics & biomechanics and material engineering.

shoulder and arm mounted heavy machine guns, and greater capacity for the weight of thick Kevlar. would it be possible to sink the aim of the shoulder mounted weapons to eye movements? that would be brilliant

Kudos to the visionary Mr. Peter Minshall (Trinidad & Tobago Carnival Masquerade Band Leader and Designer) conceptualized the exoskeleton more than two decades ago. Viewing this in 2024. Thanks for posting.

Unless humans evolve to carry more, I don't see this as viable. It is much cheaper and makes more sense to create an A.I. robot "mule" to carry soldiers loads for them. An exoskeleton without built in armor is useless for a soldier. Though it is fun to play with ideas and test possibilities.

Not really. Sometime you need to make expedition in the jungle, or mountain. So you need flexibility which an A.I. robot mule won't have. It can't cross obstacles, it can't climb, it'll consume more electricity which, again, if you're a small group trying to infiltrate a place is not going to be possible. The robot will also be a lot more prone to failures due to the mud, snow, rain.

@@BlancheNuit Great points! I just don't see the tech for either mule or exo doing well in extreme terrain or weather well into the future. Battery life and quantum computing would need to have huge leaps for any of these to start becoming a reality.

I’d like to believe you’re a bit wrong, remember we went from the first ever airplane to entering space in just 58 years, these new tech are all first generation just imagine if you tried comparing the latest iPhone 15 pro max to the first iPhone, it was just a few years ago yet it pales in comparison, give it a few years and you’ll see this become part of everyday life 😉

@@Mech.01 I just don't see it. I think we'll see drones of all sorts including infantry before we see an exoskeleton be viable. My reasoning is that why put a life at risk when you can control a drone through A.I.? Putting funds for that project will yield better results and save more lives.
