"Eyepokes are a Problem in the UFC
There are many awful fouls in the MMA, but eyepokes are some of the most egregious.
An eyepoke simply refers to when a fighter extends their fingers into an opponents eye, usually to deter a fighter from recklessly closing distance or in order to gain an advantage by impairing a fighter’s vision.
Eyepokes can change the course of a flight, end a fight entirely, and cause permanent damage to a fighter’s sight.
And yes there are bad apples with a history of this foul, but one way to mitigate this is to change the UFC gloves.
The current gloves are stiff and leave a fighters hands in a naturally open position, but famed coach Trevor Whittman has developed a glove to solve this problem.
They naturally keep your fists in a curved position which would point a fighter’s fingers downward.
The UFC was actually so impressed that they wanted to buy the rights to these gloves, but Trevor Whittman wants the gloves to be ubiquitous across MMA organizations, so it seems like it will remain that

@@talentedbutnotskilled-agni7798 ya i feel u i just think tier 2 is a stretch lol. i also think fighting dirty in this regard is the path of least resistance, and in his mind is a no brainer choice to fall back on. someone of jones' level - someone who is objectively several levels above any competitor he has faced, even in tough matchups - has more tools in their arsenal to persevere. jon has shown plenty of times this is possible but time and time again chooses the path of least resistance. but i promise you man, even just look at how other fighters revere him in the same breath they call him a dirty fighter; jon doesnt need to do this its just easier. in his mind probably in the same vein as working smarter snd not harder. and seriously im not like a jones fanboy or anything i just think its insane to even remotely entertsin the possibility of him being tier 2

It's crazy to me that PRIDE was founded in 1997, went defunct 10 years later, and STILL have the best gloves. Obviously that extended to DREAM and now RIZIN, but how the UFC just stubbornly refused to adopt better gloves when they've existed for 25 years is beyond me. Shit, bellator got better gloves like 8 to 10 years ago now.

There is NO issue with the gloves, ALL eyepokes are 100% intentional, there are tons of fighters who use an open handed stance who have NEVER poked an opponent in the eye

Pride gloves are the best mma gloves in the market and the ufc should rebrand them and start using them. Boxing glove manufacturers like grant and winning or rival make the high quality gloves I think they should dip the toes in 4oz gloves.

There's an easy solution to eye pokes: Immediate DQ loss. No warnings, no regard for intentional vs unintentional. The problem will clean itself up in a flash.
