With good reason, you can really smell and taste the quality when you heat it up. Myself and a LOT of others all agree that it's impressively good period, let alone for canned meat. I just added some to sauce and made beef quesadillas with it a few hours ago. :9 But I love it best just with a splash of its own included juice and mashed potatoes mixed together.

This is the best canned meat out there. It's outstanding! I use it all the time. The canned hamburger and chicken is great also. All of their meats are only 2 ingredients... meat and salt. Look at cans of other meat products in your market... it's a paragraph of ingredients. Their meats have a 5 year shelf life. Keystone meats is the company.

Just out of curiosity, I bought a can of this at Walmart. It was really good, totally blew away my expectations. Open and microwaved and it was pretty much like a pot roast someone spent hours slow cooking. No complaints except hard to find. Others must be in on the secret. It would be good to add into recipes like a shepherds pie, or burrito filling, stews, etc. Big surprise. I just didn't expect it to be this good.

I bought some of this stuff (Keystone) for my modest hurricane and catastrophe pantry. I like to have a couple weeks of room temperature safe, long term storage, simple to prepare food on hand. It really doesn't cost that much to create such a stash of pre-cooked canned goods you can eat right out of the can in a pinch or heat up over a camp stove. As a result of "rotating my stock" I've experimented with making beef and chicken enchiladas and chili, and pulled pork, all from this brand of products. It's a little weird when you open the can. It smells just a bit odd and has a little gob of congealed fat in it. Once you take it out of the can and scrape off the little bit of fat, it is tender and tastes just like you would hope. It makes great shredded meat dishes. For anything where you can imagine pressure cooking beef, pork, or chicken until it is tender enough to break up into shreds with a fork, this stuff is very very good. You have to understand that it is unseasoned except for a little salt - and I'd consider it LIGHTLY salted for a canned product. So, season it to your tastes and heat it up. A can of the beef with a can of Bush's Chili Magic and a can of stewed tomatoes makes a stupidly simple chili con carne - just dump the 3 cans of stuff into a sauce pan, heat and stir, no skill or seasoning needed. I made this one night on a camp stove right after Hurricane Ian for a group of neighbors when we had no electricity and were trapped in our neighborhood by the debris and water. Everyone seemed to think it was "luxury" to have such a meal. You can generally buy this brand at Walmart grocery stores, but you can also just buy it online. I highly recommend it as an absolutely essential ingredient if you want to have a few days worth of meat in an emergency stash, something that has not been freeze dried that you have to rehydrate.

Stop butchering animals. And God won't forgive people who continue to slaughter animals on a large scale. If you don't think it's true, you do not know who is God. If you don't believe in God, you are unfortunate and have to wait for your death when you realise what can happen to butchers, and those people who eat meat and support mass animal slaughter. @darksidedavid The whole point of proper preservation is to be able to safely consume it decades after canning. My trial run was a success. With a 15 y/o can of beef and some jarred garden vegetables, a delicious stew was brewed in my fireplace. In an emergency, I can survive sixty (non-winter) days without outside groceries. Sadly, it would be reduced to thirty days in the winter.

I've tried this canned meat many times. It taste great, like fall off the bone, best pot roast texture, & flavor. Factoring in how long is have to cook it, etc it's worth the price. If you're the type of person always 2ants meat for a quick dinner, & there isn't any fresh, this is perfect. Pasta, bbq, pot roast, tacos, get ready to eat. I recommend it, & I got it from Walmart, in store, & online. I am not a paid spokesperson.

Keystone meats are awesome - I use for prepping AND for cooking; for when I just don't feel like cooking the meat myself. Their turkey, beef and chicken is great - but the hamburger meat doesn't make good hamburgers because they fall apart. It's best used for casseroles. _I called the Keystone company to inquire about a bulk order for prepping - but the shipping cost are ridiculous, so I simply buy from Walmart (for $6.28-$10.00) and they ship for free! They (Keystone) said it's guaranteed quality with a 5 year shelf life, but that it's still good for many, many years thereafter._ All in all - this is a *great* canned meat!

Well done to Keystone for producing a lovely quality product. Yes, it’s more expensive but it’s not the dreadful off cuts and left overs of heaven-knows-what literally shovelled into a meat grinder, flavoured, bleached, MSG’d, sugared and coloured to make it acceptable. I understand not every one can afford to buy it every day but why would you *want* to eat tinned meat every day?

A standard one wouldn't, you're right. But Keystone's standards go above mere 'standard'. :D When you taste it you KNOW it's a cut above the rest (literally and figuratively, lol). And the cattle are farm-raised, no factory abuse crap, making healthy meat with more nutrients and it tastes soooo good. The people who work there aren't disgruntled sociopaths like most in the meat industry, but genuinely care about quality from farm to can.

I’ve been buying and using this brand for years now. The quality is extraordinary on the beef, pork and turkey, but I do think the chicken smells funny. The beef is like what you would expect from grandma’s beef stew. As far as the sell by dates are concerned, I have opened up dozens of cans that had sat on my basement shelves for over ten years and they were just like brand new. Considering the sub $10 price per 28 ounce can, this stuff is an incredible bargain.

Tread carefully. Most people have terrible taste and can't cook. Without knowing the type of the meat it is likely factory farmed hormone grade cheap beef. Canned vegetables taste like crap compared to fresh or frozen and people swear they are good. I've never had a good canned pea for example but even cheap frozen peas taste better than anything from a can. People swear by canned peas that I wouldn't feed to a dog
@wrecksandtech

@@dontcare7086 I see your point and personal taste has everything to do with it. That specific company lists their farms on their website. I have since tried this canned meat specifically the beef and thought it was ok but not great. As for vegetables it is also a case of personal preference. I find that canned carrots are superior to any form of cooking them fresh. But only carrots other canned vegetables suck.

Yeah, most companies WOULD add water to go cheap on their products. Not to mention adding a bunch of other flavorings to cover up the low-quality blandness of their meat. Keystone here's legit. The only reason there's liquid in the can when it's opened, is that during that hot canning process, the meat's natural juices seep out. Which ya don't wanna throw out; it's nice drizzled over the meat with mashed potatoes, or used as a small soup, stew, or gravy base. :9
