We all know the Voron's can print FAST, albeit, with some expensive mods. How fast can a freshly built, stock Voron 0.1 print though? Hopefully, this video will shine some light on what to expect from your Voron 0.1 print speeds and what is holding it back.

Right on with the volumetric flow rate. Found this out on my V0.1 as well. That’s where your focus should be if you want to go fast.

Superslicer can do this math for you. You can tell it the max volumetric flow, a max speed, and it will auto adjust up to those limits.

Baked my stock hotend in plastic and saw that there’s a bambu hotend coupler for the 0. I have a pile of the cht clones, they’re like 10 bucks on amazon and aliexpress. Popped in an 0.4 and got sustained high 30’s and bursts over 50mm3/s with PLA which was a surprisingly pleasant surprise. No missed steps, motor’s using stock current and wasn’t burning hot…with a $12 clone hotend, stunning. I think i posted the video too, i can’t remember and it was just a couple days ago. Anyway, great video, keep up the great work

I have been looking at the bambu hotend , it's that or the rapido or Goliath. CHT clones perform VERY in my experience too.

Yeah vorons print great before pressure advance and input shaper, but you should do a video about setting up your v0 with those features. See your speeds and ringing before and after be significantly reduced.

Unfortunately mine printing at 0 speed, I’m having problem with the afterburner extruder really unhappy with it, with time it start skipping too much and now it doesnt have any force to send the filament to noozle, did you try printing TPU? I’m changing to the sherpa mini
@gabriell4031
@gabriell4031 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would put this speed on the lower end of what a v0 can do reliably. If everything is built correctly with a higher flow hotend this will go up. The bottle neck on new ldo kits will be based mainly on hotend choice. They speeds are for beginners and I would definitely recommend starting at these speeds. Also eSun abs+ is the worst abs to choose imo pure abs is much better at layer adhesion and strength. All in all this printer can definitely hit 500mm/s travel speeds. With easy 10k accel at the very minimum.
@pactonal9130
@pactonal9130 Жыл бұрын
You’ll definitely want to calibrate pressure advance and crank those accels. With 4k acceleration at 180mm/s you’re gonna take 4mm to speed up and slow down. Since you’re going to be printing mostly small parts with the V0 you should see a pretty good reduction in print times.

Yep. Upgrade that hot-end to a Rapido and you can double your speeds. I'm going to also upgrade to CHT nozzles so I can go even faster

You read my mind! The rapido is going to be my next upgrade but i need to research how to fit the rapido in the mini afterburner. I think it'll need some tweaking and im sure there are some models available online.

your suposed to do input shaping before pressure advance as input shapping can completely alone fix the corners

Hi! I think you can push it way further. I have a heavily modifier ender 3 pro, and I print everything at 180mm/s. My volumetric flow is around 20mm^3/s. And my print quality has never been this good. And I have a phaetus dragonfly bms.

@@solidus784 this is something I have been considering for a while. I even bought a 0.6mm nozzle, but it was the wrong one for my nozzle... now I'm just waiting, because I will build a boron v0.1 in August. As for arachne, I'm using super slicer sadly

@@Sttreg it's worth installing the prusaslicer alpha to give it a try. The detail is the same or better than a 0.4 for detailed models but for printer parts just use super slicer and a 0.6 that would be perfect

Okay, the bottleneck seems to be the hotend. Now, what is the max speed to get strong parts? Because we all know that the slower we print, the stronger the parts ... Seems to me that all these fast printing machines are useful for quick prototyping or decorative parts, but I hope I'm wrong.
@ThisDesignedThat
@ThisDesignedThat Жыл бұрын
interesting question, Im sure CNC Kitchen has done a test on this, there are definitely many parameters you can tweak to get stronger prints, have a look through his channel.
@8bits955
@8bits955 Жыл бұрын
the bottleneck is definetly the dragonfly bmo, you could improve a bit buy using an cht nozzle but that wont cut it massivly. Idealy you want something like a dragon high flow that will allow you to push alot more filament through without losing flowrate
@ThisDesignedThat
@ThisDesignedThat Жыл бұрын
Check out my CHT review here - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbR1ecp4p865lGg.html. It did increase flow rate by about 30% but I hit a new bottleneck which is the cooling. The tiny blowers on the voron 0.1 cant handle the increased speeds. Volcano upgrade would definitely help too but you need to upgrade cooling too if using that.
@8bits955
@8bits955 Жыл бұрын
@@ThisDesignedThat that is true forgot about the cooling, but cooling can easily be upgraded. Check out kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l5yIhdZezJzSl6s.html it a great mod to massivly increase the cooling

@@ThisDesignedThat from my own experience that cooling is defo important when printing pla however when printing abs is not as important, you can get away with much less cooling at the same speed as abs doesnt really like cooling in the first place

I think more interesting than just the plain straight line speed is the overall print time. The Voron excels with his high accelerations in curves/direction changes to lower overall print time.

Yes, and preferably tune it with an ADXL345 accelerometer. They are cheap and provide consistent results. Your printer will handle much higher accelerations which is what makes print small parts fast. I'm building a Voron 2.4 300mm spec, and without panels (wich will add rigidity) I found is doing 4000mm/s2 comfortably without ringing. I'm sure you could double that in a V0.1.

yes it looks similar. I guess you pay a premium for enclosed 3d printer and also more reliable quality parts. It does seem that more and more cheap 3d printers are getting into the 100mm/s+ print speeds which is a great thing for everyone.

@@ThisDesignedThat I was strongly considering a voron 0.1 as I've wanted a fast klipper printer for a while. It's not hard to klipperize my S1 but can't find any raspberry pi in stock anywhere, but since the sonic pad upgrade was released it seems to have breathed new life into my S1. I am trying to build an enclosure for it but it's a real ball ache. Aside from that I can no longer find a good reason to build the voron.
