Yes, that was double sided, 300dpi greyscale. Seems to be about the same speed no matter what.

@@unlock-er You are making sense. The pages come out the right way, sequential, not odd/even, since it's scanning the front and back of each page at the same time.

There is only a splendidly fast mode. It isn't that loud though, it was just in an otherwise silent bedroom.

All paper handling devices pick up dust and fibers as they run, and the rollers need to be cleaned periodically (think mild dish soap and water, carefully applied and carefully dried afterward) to continue working properly.

I usually do 20-25 sheets at a time. When it runs out, as shown, it will ask if you want to continue with that PDF or complete the operation, and you can add as many batches as you like.

Other than making sure you have the paper guides set correctly, it's important that the rollers for this unit be clean. Just like a printer will jam or feed strangely if its rollers are dirty. Mine doesn't power on with just USB, so I suppose the performance difference is literally infinite. :) I tried two different wide micro-3.0 cables on all the computers, power banks, and AC chargers I had on hand, no dice. It is supposed to work off USB, but Brother just says it's "slower", can't scan to network, and won't do long documents.

@@dualityk I wouldn't expect it to do that sort of speed on USB. USB can put out a maximum of about 500 mA which at 5 volts is 2.5 watts. There is no way a motor pushing at that speed would draw only 2.5 watts.

@@roadmonitoroz Mine doesn't work at all on USB power, so it's moot, but it does have a USB 3 Micro B connector (the weird wide one) and could presumably thus draw 900mA for 4.5W if it worked, which it doesn't.
