I know he won’t see this... but he needs to do a couple things. #1 you need to fix the darn throttle cable so that the RPMs are the same. Otherwise you will destroy your transmissions. #2 you have more power now but that only helps on acceleration not top speed. You need to change the gearing for top speed. #3 contact gopowersports for possible mods like tuning it to get rid of the governor and stuff

Best way to learn how to weld yourself is to do a bunch of practice welds on some scrap. Test them by sticking them in the vice and pound the crap out of them with a hammer. A good weld will be stronger than your material, so if the metal fails before the weld you're good. Try some out, make some adjustments, try more.
@thecleancaveman7770
@thecleancaveman7770 5 жыл бұрын
I just learned how to weld by that exact method. Took scrap, put it together. Had my friend teaching me point out what was good and what wasn't (too slow, too fast, good heat penetration, etc.); then at the end, gave a good smacks with a small sledge and she held up just fine. It's such an incredible skill to have.

To 100% help with the turns and possibly hills and dips, put the rear engine assembly on a single swiveling connection centered to the back of the first engine. Would require some rework of your current construction but that would allow the engines to flex when turn and also allow for more travel on hills and dips.

Matt, I've welded the steps on a Budget 26' Liftgate truck also the front steps closest to the diesel tank, the same type you were doing. Except I used a "J" design on each weld. Something that was taught to me by a welding shop, although I didn't work for them. I did do it right because the guy who had taught me how to do that repair rented the truck I'd repaired. Saw them and told the local dealer I'd done them right. It's not hard but you do need to make sure that you go completely around the object that you are welding.

Turn the heat up 1 notch, same with the wire speed and maybe slow down just a bit. Idk I haven't watched you weld but if it sounds like bacon sizzling you got your settings right! Good luck man this project is awesome! Me and my dad built a go-kart from scratch when I was 8 years old, and that was also the day I learned to weld lol, also the day I learned to go slow with it because, I also had pretty much the same thing happen hahaha

All you gotta do bro is make like similar to a hitch set up to let the back motor or motors pivit s little when you turn. You wouldn't want them to pivot far and you would want to be able to lock them straight to back up but i hope to see this improved and with another motor lol. Good video guys you got me to subscribe

I’m not a welder by any means... but I’ve been following the twin engine kart. You weren’t getting good penetration with that welder. Best way to weld is to practice. I really want a twin engine kart now. This was awesomez

Off the engine cradle of engine #1 engineer a pivot just above the bottom of cradle. Dead center of course. Making a single attachment while loading the rear axle sharing the load. A u- joint comes to mind for the pivot. The ability to keep the wheels on the ground will keep rear wheels planted. Then the suspension will require longer travel on the rear shocks. In negotiating terrain make sure the engine frames do not contact one another. Electric fuel pump would solve fuel issue.

I think you need a little more vertical travel in the last wheel set to account for it's distance from the other axle. Provided that is possible, anyway.

You need to get a shielding gas hooked to the welder. Fluxcore doesn't provide enough protection on the weld just helps to "deep clean" the weld metal.

Should have used either a split tank or a dual tank as well as a brace for the back, plus shocks and suspicion and independent axels to keep the wheels on the ground and spread the weight evenly. Should help with the turns and being out a little more power

Seemed like your voltage wasn't set hot enough. From what I could see, it looked like you didn't have any penetration on the original frame. If the welds cleanly broke away from the frame, you definitely need to turn the voltage up and adjust the wire speed to work with the new voltage setting. That's just my analysis from what I could see in the video.

100% man his welds were good for the new metal joints as you could see bluing but that tubing is probably harder from the forming and if he's welding through the paint instead of cleaning it off more heat is necessary. Not a bad design at all though and i want to see version 2.0
