Really annoyed with people making fun of a 300, it's more than enough power unless you're a speed junkie you don't need it

@colonel sanders Why do you need to "get around cars" at 80 mph? With such a small displacement (CCs), you should stay in the right lane while maintaining the slow lane speed (55mph). What's your hurry? If you're a beginner rider, you shouldn't be on the highway in the first place.

@@LifeOfBurch Why do some people worry about "how fast" a beginner bike is? Speed is not your concern as a newbie. The fundamentals of clutch/throttle control and the overall mechanics (weight, lean angles, brakes) of a bike should be your concern.

I haven't ridden in 20 yrs. In my 40s and want a bike again. Don't need speed (cage is damn fast) but literally want to cruise. Looking at this and a fury (new is fine) texas highways though. Would having to be high rpm all the time to keep around 75 cause more maintenance issues?

I ride a Vulcan 500 and it can do 100ish, but I rarely like to go above 80mph anyway. Too much wind and it's just not as pleasant at that speed. 65-70mph is really a comfortable speed for cruising. For 5-6k this is really a great motorcycle. Got pretty good tech and the same frame/suspension as the 500.

Hi everyone, I know this is an older video but for any newbie that just saw this video like myself I just want to say it is a great starter bike if you are looking to start riding. I currently ride an older 250cc and had to ride the 300cc in the motorcycle safety course the past 2 days ago to help bypass the dmv riding test. I'm 5' 2" and I can flat foot it while sitting. It is a tad bit heavier than my 250cc but once I started riding it, I found it has more power and is fun to ride with it's new body size and shape. I've only been able to ride up to 2nd gear only in class so I can't really say how them other gears compare the real power it has to my bike. I also like how the gears are now set under you like none cruiser bikes unlike my 250cc, it is forward a little cuz I guess it is set like that because it's supposed to be a cruiser bike so you can't stand up incase of a bump or running something over unless you pull yourself up from the handlebars. Anyways just with the 2 days of riding it in class, I might just upgrade to the 300 or 500 when I get the chance. I was reading up alot from the differences of the 250cc and the 300cc and was afraid with the higher seat & heavier weight I might have an issue but I actually like the bike and have no issues with riding for a short guy and a beginner. There were females my hight and taller riding as well there on the rebels as the bike that they had to learn on as beginners never had any motorcycle riding experience. In short this bike is used as a 1st timer bike to teach new riders in the motorcycle riding safety course here in California how to ride. I think that says it all if you are looking to get started in riding.

Being a brand new rider at the age of 57 my Honda Rebel 300cc has given me a lot a confidence my husband who has been riding since the 70s rides beside me with his Harley Sportster and he is harder on me than the coaches where at the Harley Davidson Riding Academy, yes he said I have improved on keeping up on the speed limit my turns are getting better,, but not quite ready to get on I-695 yet or any Interstate more practice, as a matter of fact when I bought my motorcycle my husband drove it home for me because we had to take it up on the beltway I-695 and he had that little Rebel up to 70 miles a hour as I know because I followed behind him in my car 🚗 so that Honda Rebel 300cc of mine can move,, he was telling me you half to wine the gears all the way out to get up to the speed and there's no problem,,👍🏻 love my Honda Rebel.

Ynot_44 glad I could help, and I think you’re going to love the Rebel as a first bike! I honestly wish this had been around when I first started riding. It may even be smart for you to start looking for bikes now. Lots of them are cheaper than usual because not many people are buying bikes in the winter, plus the new 2020 bikes are about to release so dealers need to get rid of old 2019 stock! Oh, and thanks for subscribing! 🙏🏻

I was hoping to spring on it this year but having been put out of work for over a month I have other things to put money into. It sounds like you’re doing the smart thing by not buying right now. And when you do end up buying, I really recommend buying used! You’ll save so much money that way if you’re patient and wait to find a good deal. I bought the Rebel 300 in this video for only $2,000 on Facebook marketplace. Even after all the mods I put into it, plus all the tax/tag/title fees, I still saved sooo much money versus buying old stock from a dealer. Good luck on your search! You’ll find the right bike when the timing is right! 🙏🏻

I bought a 2018 Rebel 300 in the fall of 2018. Rode it two months, put it away for the winter, and rode it 2 months in the spring of 2019. Then I sold it. I can handle the less power. But what I couldn't handle was the VIBRATIONS!!! At 55mph or more, the bike vibrated so badly I thought it was going to fly apart. The handlebars made my hands numb. And the seat....aside from being an uncomfortable seat, it vibrated so bad that after 1 hour of riding my butt would hurt for days! The seat feels like you're sitting on a 2x4...as if you're only supported by the inside 4" of the seat. Even riding 30 minutes would still hurt. Single cylinder?.....never again!
@LifeOfBurch
@LifeOfBurch 4 жыл бұрын

Really nice video. I’m currently taking my license and looking to buy a good beginner bike. When I was in my teens I had several 50cc and loved it, but now 15 years later I’m looking to buy a good beginner bike. I’m 220 lbs and 6ft. Is the Rebel 300 adequate or would it feel underpowered and boring after a season? My bike would just be a weekend bike and once in a while commuter. Thanks guys!
@LifeOfBurch
@LifeOfBurch 3 жыл бұрын
I think the 300 would be underpowered honestly. The 500 is the perfect place to start, or even the 1100 if you have the money. The 1100 is great because you can start in rain mode which is about as powerful as the 500, if not less, and then work up once you’re comfortable. My channel has tons of videos on both the 500 and 1100 if you want to check them out!

I have the Royal Enfield 350 which is about the same in terms of performance these bikes are fine as long as you're not going uphill into a headwind then you got a downshift to fifth gear and stay at 50

80mph is more than enough for me. I've been riding my Kpipe which I've been turning into an urban adventure bike for jumping curbs, cutting through yards and just... wimpy hooligan behavior, but it's so light weight I get battered about my lane by wind and have a hard time hitting 60mph on it. People seriously don't respect bikes and ride up my ass... Time to upgrade for longer trips.

Yah the bike does have a hard buzz even in 6th! It’s great through town the bike will easily rip! Change to the next gear 1- 6 at a low rpm it has torque and I found the higher gear was better. Doesn’t seem to have as much power when you really scream it up high. Low rpm torque monster! Except for 6th rip it as fast as you need to go.

I want a 500, but budget-wise, I can barely afford a 300. I am thinking of a blue (love blue) 2021 Rebel 300 ABS. I been riding a Rebel 250 for 6 years, it has 15K miles on it now and it is so so so buzzy at 55-65 that the nuts on the bike are walking themselves off. Lost the nuts for the exhaust flange, blew the exhaust seal. The valves are overdue for adjustment, the carb needs some cleaning. Looking at $350 for the exhaust, valves, and carb. All the local shops are backlogged, so I can't even get it fixed quick. Was even hoping to get it done and sell it right after, so I could hopefully get $2500-$2600 (while used prices are so high) to put towards the Rebel 300, and the person who buys my bike already has all of the expensive maintenance done for them. I just want a much much more smoother bike at 55-65, with the occasional 70-75 mph, and still get the nearly 80 mpg I get on the 250.

Rebel 500 2019 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin four-stroke. . Probably because two pistons balance out the combustion impulses better? Has very little vibration for me as you wondered in video about the mirrors.

Have you taken this on an extended highway ride? If so, was it comfortable after a while? I hear that lower cc’s will fatigue the body more, also the 1100 offers cruise control. If it wasnt for that, I’d like a 300 or even 500- I wouldnt want to go so fast, but rather enjoy the ride.
@pmh1nic
@pmh1nic 2 жыл бұрын
Smaller engines will fatigue you more due to vibration and sound. I have the 300 and in my opinion the only reason to get the 300 over the 500 is price. If you can afford the 500 or 1100 get the higher displacement bike.

I know this is an older review - but its perfect - i am trying to decide between a 300/500 on the 2020 version - and now I am more confused :) I dont need a freeway type bike - just something to get to work and back (*or supermarket) - so I feel the 300 may be enough - but i really like the full/weight of the 500 !

@Robert B thanks.... I was planning on getting the 300 ,but they sold the last 300 ABS and I kinda wanted the ABS. So .... I'm on a 500 ABS. Do you think it's worth the 2500$ diff? Mean I can get a 300 non ABS for 4200, or the 500 ABS FOR 6700$. I'm really trying to sort all this out

@Robert B it's nice.... Understand I have not ridden in over 30 years which is why I got the 300. I think even as a beginner you will probably want the 500. So if you're considering a bike and the rebel is the one then I might suggest going for the 500.

Three questions What is the range in this bike particularly? What's the mpg guesstimate with highway use? Is it comfortable for longer trips maybe 1-3 hours
@LifeOfBurch
@LifeOfBurch 4 жыл бұрын
Wyatt Earth The tank holds 2.9 gallons and it’s rated at 71 mpg, meaning it ideally has just over a 200 mile range. I sold the bike, but I seem to remember actually filling up around 150-175 miles. I never let the gas light come on though. As for comfort, the stock seat is terrible. If you plan to ride for more than 30 minutes you HAVE to upgrade your seat unless you have a steel back. Once I replaced the seat I could do 1-3 hours cruising backroads no problem.

I don't know if you'll see this, but maybe someone else can answer this question. I have a 2017 Honda Rebel 300 and it has been pretty nice riding around on it for my first bike. I am getting comfortable now going at faster speeds (50-65mph) but I can definitely feel how the bike is wrung out and really could use another gear or something. Is it bad for a bike like this to be constantly going that fast and having to drive around with it wrung out all the time? It has to be, right? The last thing I would want to do is to ride it on faster roads too much and blow my motor from overworking the small engine after only having it for about a month or so. (1,650 miles on it roughly)
@johnsanders3825
@johnsanders3825 3 жыл бұрын
And if that is the case, what issues could it potentially create that I should look out for, preventative maintenance wise?
@jimsteinberg6156

@@johnsanders3825 55 mph prob. ok for some cruising. High rpm requires syn oil, Jasco rating ma1, ma 2, check levels/top off. keep valve clearance correct and adjust timing chain early, keep tire pressure exact. Ideally when pleasure riding 48 reduces wear and tear. "Pinning the throttle" is really cool but cool is dumb.

My break-in on my 2019--had to stop and let it sit after trying to do ~ 45 up and down for 10 minutes with 3 miles on the clock out the dealer. Then could do 40 home. Nursed it for the first 600, no issues. But the first miles, Gotta GO SLOW. QC not so sure. Had to fix the coolant leak on the right side week one by removing the pipe and removing the crap, (sealant that was causing the leak? I dunno) then using gasket seal and reinstalling. No leaks after that. Plus some of the welds on the front frame behind the handlebar are really craptacular. Not so sure Indonesia is that great for "Uality" (They don't have a Q on Indonesian keyboards). Other than that, it's a great bike that looks cool and people go wow.
