Though separated by a stretch of sea, Glasgow and Belfast share elements of political, sporting and religious culture rooted in the difficult, unresolved events faced by the Irish community during the twentieth century. The Huddle tells the stories of two Irish communities brought together by a devotion to the Celtic Football Club, and a shared faith in football. Exploring the contradictions between two cities facing radical ideological divides yet brought together by full stadiums, these are the interwoven and personal accounts of journalists, musicians, political militants, IRA fighters-all united by their love of football-on what it means to be Irish.

Palestine ?.In this i don't see one flag for anybody just for celtic no Palestinian flags here.Its a very recent thing no more than 10 years its got popular when you played isrealis in europe then it took off.Think the treament of abada was bad must have been a lonely place seeing "victory to the resistance" right in front of him.He was worth more than double what you got, the GB has cost celtic millions through him leaving though his statement said he wished the fans well .To be honest the war in palestine would attract anybodys attention but if it didn't happen and the troubles were still going the GB wouldn't care about them,it was that way with the troubles in the early 90s no Palestinian flags flown in the jungle .

Until we can acknowledge the fact that there were many criminal acts on both sides we will never move forward in a meaningful way. The cause of Irish nationalism is a noble cause - unfortunately many undesirable characters pegged their hat to it to further their nefarious activities.....and similarly on the Unionists side. Just because ur a Irish republican doesn’t mean u have to sing songs about it at Celtic Park or away games involving Celtic, try singing songs in SUPPORT of Celtic rather than anti British, or support of the ira bollox it’s a total embarrassment, especially when Celtic as a club have stated on numerous occasions we don’t want theese songs sung, used to go all away games n Hampden no now for that very reason n a don’t think al ever go back unfortunately unless things change.

As someone who lives in the country, it's good to see more cross-community cooperation. The island will still be a better place once reunification with the Republic takes place, but it should be a democracy for all, including the unionists up north. We have to do better than the detestable Tory rats and work together for the working class as a whole.

Its still english sport,can't bblame the scots catholics because Gaelic games except for shinty don't exist in scotland but belfast republicans its strange.The title is all wrong any ways football has not united ireland probably the only sport that does that is rugby.I am a GAA and rugby supporter but i am just a moderate irish nationalist.Just very strange that that hardline irish republicans would be so passionate about an englishb sport when frankly we have far superior of our own.
