Hell, ANY other striker would've been an improvement over how dreadful Cristiano was in this entire tournament. Jota isn't a true number 9, but in a team with Bruno and Bernardo Silva who are known to drift to the center and score from the second line, he would have provided better link up options, especially if he played as a false 9, and Ramos would've offered the same Cristiano did, except better because unlike the fossil wearing the number 7 kit, he can actually play off his back and fight off centrebacks. And that's without mention how either/both offer better defensive work rate than CR's, which is basically none.

@@Oi-mj6dv I am portuguese and I completely agree, thought the analysis was poor in terms of why ronaldo didn't shine but rewatching shows how deep he actually came in to get a touch of the ball to not make any significant passes and our tunnel vision to cross it into him with only R7 being in the box. Great opportunities were missed but to say is the worst game in the euros is just laughable when England have been playing lol

Martinez’s coaching wasn’t the problem, it was the lacklustre striker that produced nothing for his team yet refused to come off that cost Portugal. They’re a team with great potential yet are held back by one man and his ego.
