Happy to hear the good news for Fred. He was always one of the "good guys," showed real sportsmanship each time he went on the field. He wasn't flashy which is probably why it took so long for him to enter the Hall. He was consistent and had superior skills. Great attitude; a good ambassador for the game.

Met and talked to Fred many times at world woods golf club in Brooksville, FL. He was the nicest most unassuming guy you could imagine. Nothing about him said, look at me, I'm a star. So down to earth. Way to go Fred!

@@KingLouisDaSaint when the braves got him from the Padres I was super excited putting him in between Gant and justice made that line up special. It's sad we only won one title with those teams but after Gant McGriff was my second favorite player

Serious CONGRATULATIONS to Fred McGriff,the Crime Dog,of several teams but especially the Atlanta Braves!!! Came to Atl in '93 and the broadcast booth caught on fire...what a way to be welcomed to the ATL!!! He has a great game that night and for the next 5 years I believe... helped the Braves get a World Series win in '95!! Such a long over due honor and as a lifelong Braves fan I love the Mark Lemke was the first to congratulate him!!!! So happy for you as you so richly deserve this honor!!!!!!❤️🤍💙⚾

Lemmer and Crime Dog, the right side of the Atlanta Braves infield of my childhood. I'm emotional. Freddy was and is still my favorite baseball player of all time...in fact, my favorite athlete ever! You'll always be a Brave in my heart, even if not on the cap of the Cooperstown plaque. CONGRATS! So well-earned and couldn't have been an honor bestowed upon a nicer guy and such a consummate pro. Braves Nation loves ya man!

Fred was the quietest Superstar of the 80's and 90's! It was a thrill to watch him play with my Cubs! Congrats Fred on making the HOF, it was long overdue!

McGriff played high A minor league ball in my hometown of Kinston, NC. He tore it up for the Kinston Blue Jays & didn't stay here long before moving up. Great ball player.

Fred McGriff (5X All-Star, almost 493 HRs, led the league in HRs twice) Fred was a very solid player, who compiled a lot of stats over time, but I never saw him as a Hall of Famer. I am of the school of thought if you have to think about him being a Hall of Famer, he's not one. His career stats are behind Gary Sheffield. For me, Fred is borderline-out. Gary is borderline-in.

You gotta be kidding! 493 HRs !! Only 57 players are in the 400 HR club & he’s right at the top of that list. He absolutely deserves to be in the HOF. Should’ve been in there a long time ago.

For what it's worth, McGriff has the same number of career HRs as Lou Gehrig. So no, I don't have to think about...McGriff is a Hall of Famer. As for Sheffield, yes he should be in, but that doesn't invalidate McGriff's induction.

@@steven.eventsno doubt, i was in tampa, summer of '04 and those assholes cut him not long before i went to a couple games. sorry of them to not let him reach 500 especially being a local boy. i would think that type of achievement would draw more attendance.

@@mikeimpressionsreviews9831 Have you see the HR and hits list? Of the 33 players with 3,000 9 are only over by less than 80, put that number to 115 and you can make it 12. The HR list is even more nuts. Of the 28 with 500, a full 11, 40%, are over by 35 or less. Now while I’m sure that lots of people just called it a day when they wanted to, those numbers and how many are so close to those cut lines mean ALOT of people stuck around go get 3K or 500 HRs to cement their HoF.
