Where does Frieren rank in your top anime list?

Kinda love how the most hype fight so far involves two people standing there talking and a scale weighing them.

The slower pace is probably a genius way to do a anime. Frienen can actually hold a scene together instead of coming apart at the seams like other anime. It feels artful and alive even if most characters are stoic and reserve, something I find genuinely engaging and invest in.

As someone later in my years, this show hits home too hard at times. What I remember being a few months ago was years, and people and places are so different, if even still present. The things I took for granted then are precious memories now. Reaching for them to recreate and relive those feelings is an act in futility and only creates frustration and sadness. I couldn't imagine living for thousands of years and having similar situations intensified by orders of magnitude.

I believe it’s number 1 on MAL for a reason, this anime deeply resonates with a lot of people in ways other generic anime doesn’t do, makes you think of the limited time we have as we age and the relationships we take for granted.

Honestly, Frieren is so good. I honestly just want to watch her adventers every week. I don't care of there is a bigger story its just fun and a great fantasy story.

I like that Frieren really shows you what its like to live in a fantasy world. In almost all fantasy stories, the fantasy setting exists solely for the purpose of the fight scenes. In frieren, the setting IS the focus.

This anime encouraged me to call my parents. As it showed me that time can get away from any of us and I may not get another chance to if I didn't there and then. It also taught me to never ever trust an elf's perception of time. Especially Frieren, the nigh immortal elf.

I think the rather stoic frieren fits perfectly. Its even a positive for me. You can really feel how she sees everything with her perspective of time and a thousand years of experience. Almost nothing must feeling new or exciting and it highlights the moment where she actually shows emotions. Another one are the fights. These weirdly also feel like seen through the perspective of frieren. They are exciting while going on but end pretty quickly and this immediately go on as if it wasn't a big deal in the big scheme of this (like the big scheme of 1000+ years)

I think the genius of this anime is how the pacing of the anime is basically a POV of Frieren. The first episode went by in a flash even though 50 years went by, is just how frieren see that 50 years being, an instant. But after she realized the importance of time and the memories made, it starts being slow and memorable for her. I know the time skip is also for the sake of plot and also to cover any more backstory plothole in the future, but the thought that the anime pace fits perfectly well is mindblowing to me. Edit: Also explains why we never seen middle aged Himmel because Frieren only ever saw him when he was young and as an elderly

I think Frieren for me is probably one of the best paced anime. Every episode is enjoyable. Does feel rushed yet doesn’t feel dragged out. Gotta praise the writer for this. Animation for this anime is also top notched, not just the fight but the dance as well. Damn!

Frieren is a really amazing anime that’s about self-discovery. Its episodic nature is very fitting for the kind of story it portrays. I love how Frieren goes back to the same places she first visited 10 years ago with a different mindset. Even the world-building is amazing; it does not feel robotic and is not there solely for the sake of aesthetics. The world moves on even without the main characters, and I think many anime could learn from this. I also love how similar Frieren and Violet Evergarden are; both series are about self-discovery and what certain emotions mean, exploring what it truly means to be human. Even the action and music are amazing! The music composer is also the same for Violet Evergarden, which made me extraordinarily happy. It’s a 10/10 anime and deserves all the attention it has gotten so far.

Frieren definitely is the no.1 anime. I've never seen an anime that just hit all of the spot perfectly. Adaptation, the themes covered in the story, world building, character developments, and banger OP. It's literally perfect. It focuses exactly where it needs to be and shows it. The thing is, violet evergarden was good, but i think the concept can be a bit harder to grasp or relate to unlike frieren where it gets as basic as fantasy stories can be. At least for me, thats how it is. Frieren is easier to digest for me due to its simplicity. Everything just hits deeply. Imo Frieren hits like a truck especially for those who are adulting or maybe felt like they just ended a certain journey. Its painful, but there is nothing you can do other than trying to be better. Its full of regrets, but time continues. It explains time perfectly. A lot of us may relate to certain characters due to their own history. We live at the same time, we have certain life span as the human species but, each one of us have different concepts of time. I personally relate a lot to Frieren. I live on auto pilot. By the time certain thing ended, I hadnt realize how much it has actually affected me until I lost it. Frieren encourage us to live and appreciate things in the moment. Because a lot of us lives in the past/future, we often forget to enjoy the tiny bit of the present. Even though the present is all we have and that one tiny action in the present could be something huge to us in the future. We just didnt realize/know it yet since we are too busy not living in the moment. Thats the beauty and genius of Frieren.

I love how frieren explores one of the most intriguing concepts in the journey of a traditional anime being after the conclusion of the main story. Alot of anime that do end up coming to a conclusion do so normally with the protagonist simply going along their merry way towards whatever future goals that are vaguely given to us. Few anime explore what occurs afterward but recently there have been more exploring this theme. We know that some day our protagonist will die eventually and all heroic stories have an end but the majority of anime rolls the credits long before we get to see that conclusion so with frieren exploring not only that end but what comes after is such an appealing concept to me.

This anime hit hard enough that it made me reach out to a friend I have not talked to for a bit. I am not sure A younger me would have been affected as much by it. It does a great job at showing the march of time how it can just pass someone by.

Story is solid 10/10. Characters are likable even the vilains. No teenager crybaby. No high school protagonists. No boring school setting.

The reason I personally love watching this anime is because there are no cliffhanger (just one till now). Every episode has a beginning and end in the same episode. I don't feel empty after finishing each episode, I can just close my laptop and move on with my own life till next week.

Sousou no Frieren is just a masterpiece. The pacing, the story telling, the animation and the music just blends together perfectly. Every episode i felt so immersed and when the episode ends it makes you crave for another episode immediately or you will question has 24 mins gone by already. The characters are well written and likeable. Each has their own unique background and personality traits. Everyone has their own story and time actually matter or passes in this anime. Things grow and age as time passes which makes you cherish the characters even more as they will eventually die and perish.

Frieren is thoughtful. Somber, calm and introspective. It is sweet, and melancholy, and joyful. It's not about the spells, it is about life. And it's beautiful. "I am unsure if heaven exists or not. But I believe it should. So I believe in it."

as a guy who doesn't care for animeisms and thus has passed on most anime. Frieren is a wonderfully restrained, excellently written character driven fantasy. Loveable characters, interesting world, beautiful art, great sound track, and character writing that is satisfying. In short its one of the best stories ive had the pleasure of seeing in almost 10 years. edit: i like how the stoicism (restraint) that "all" the characters show compared to the flamboyant emotions of most characters in anime is a point of complaint. its refreshing to me, and i think there are plenty of animated characters, in this to not actually be able to say they are all stoic.

This show is such a nice change of pace compared to other stuff I'm watching. From Spy X Family to the high octane JJK, I get so mentally exhausted sometimes trying to keep up and feel burnt out after wanting to see more and more of them (I love both shows) but sometimes it's nice to get something like this that's in between. Something I can sit back and like you said, to just enjoy that slow candle burn. Some shows are like a flamethrower or a volcano in that aspect but this... This show is like a comfortable cozy night, regardless of the weather outside. Sometimes I really need that in between all the comedic, dramatic and chaotic stuff I've been watching lately. I'm not going to sit here and say it's my favorite thing to eat but it is more of a comfort food for me. Feels like a home cooked meal, rather than decent fast food, a five star restaurant or junk food. I can just sit right on back and enjoy it, simple as that.

This anime will go down as one with the most beautiful storytelling, art and background art, lore, unique characters and amazing adaptations ever.

To me this is a real gem. A beautiful anime with multiple threads of existential themes. Knowing in the episode 16 what really Kraft the elven monk was, his forgotten role in saving the world in a previous era, his stoic ability to getting along being forgotten and find other goals in life, was just a revelation. It left me with a mixture of awe and nostalgy, just wanted to see him again and make him tell his story and the name of his companion. But, as he said, maybe next time, in two or three hundred years.

One thing that I love about how Frieren portrays the passage of time is that we see the characters grow more familiar with each other in the space between episodes. You really get the sense that Fern deeply understands Frieren after years together, and within two episodes of Stark joining their little party there is already a bond that can be read between the characters. Even a side character who was only in the show for one episode ends up forging strong bonds with the main heroes, since we see the months they spend together in a montage. Frieren herself shows this the least, which fits with the weaknesses she needs to overcome.

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song & The Ancient Magus' Bride are similar to Frieren: Beyond Journey's End too, with the stoic female protagonist on a journey of self-discovery. It helps that all the protagonists - Frieren & Vivy & Chise - have the same voice actress as well.

When I first read Frieren's manga it immediately turned no. 1 for me. It actually reaffirmed me into wanting to get into journaling. Time is merciless.

Absolute #1. I enjoy every single episode. Every Friday there is a translation, and every Saturday morning I spend drinking a cup of coffee with Frieren.

Frieren is the perfect protagonist for me. She turns out to be the last great legendary mage, limitlessly powerful it seems. Yet, her character is extremely humble, kind, carefree, soft, mellow, patient, unattached, stoic. She doesn't seem to have an ego and she has a strong sloppy side. Happy to fill her endless days with mundane tasks. It's largely how Taoist and Zen masters are often described

To Your Eternity is also a great fantasy anime covering an immortal and long-lived person and the dilemas of being so long lived.

What I really love with Frieren's adaptation is it somehow makes "boring" enjoyable. The pacing of the story is rather slow that it gets boring at times, but you just can't stop watching it. And the best part about it, none of the episodes feels like a "filler". There is always one scene in the new episode that can be the highlight of that whole week. And well, I'd even argue that the anime is a better experience than reading the manga. The choice of BGM in several scenes are so perfect that it adds depth and beauty to the scene. Every BGM is always on point with what we're watching, unlike most other animes that just puts a random BGM or doesn't even try at all.

Evan Call's music in the series really gives a grand magical feeling, and really brings forth a fantastical and mystical atmosphere.

I have surprised myself by enjoying this character driven day in the life type anime but they just do it so well. Seeing Frieren slowly come to terms about how special both of these adventures and her friends have become in her incredibly long life is very heart warming. It adds a level of emotion that is mostly missing in the soulless isekai churning mill that is our modern anime scene.

I don't think they are emotionless, well the demons are, but I think that at least Frieren and Fern are still learning to express their emotions. I think the emotionless nature of some characters amplifies the moments where they do show emotion. Stark is over emotional and that is just hilarious given how little emotion the others show. But each of the main characters have these completely opposite and hidden personalities that are always there just below the surface that come out at just the right times. Idk, I just think the emotionless parts makes you believe the parts where they do show emotion a lot more. I mean, who thought that the Demons could be so emotionless and then in the end they feel fear? Makes you wonder if they were hiding real emotions the entire time just because they are Demons and are supposed to act like Demons do.

This anime was a true 💎 in the rough. I love this anime and can watch this anime every week forever. From their story, anime, 🌎 building, humor, etc.. I hope we get many many many seasons of this anime.

I have absolutely been loving this series,there's such a pleasantly nostalgic sort of vibe about it. It's a feels anime where things are flowing and devoloping in a way that just makes me wish I could experience something like it. Other anime that made me feel rather emotional and/or pleasant Slime Isekai s1 and Ranking of Kings s1.

You are such a good story teller man. Your voice and speaking pace is so soothing and nice to listen to, even while explaining such a deep and emotional story.

I always wondered when I would play MMO's and such, about the lives of the NPCs and the aftermath of the adventures you would undertake, good or bad, and how it would effect the world as a whole so this hits me hard and I love that they made this anime. Plus, I came to an understanding along time ago that immortality, while a blessing is also a curse. You live forever and watch the the changes of the world and its inhabitants, but yet, you have to understand you get to watch those you love, grow up, grow old, wither, and die while you never change. This goes for anyone that's not immortal that you form a relationship with. I think this is a lot of why Frieren seems to have such a closed and somewhat cold demeanor and why she didn't want to have fern with her, but that's my assumption. Anyway, this is a great anime, no doubt.

I love this anime almost as much as love Violet and it's saying something, I guess. The pace can be felt so slow, but as someone that usually watch drama or anime in 2x speed, normal speed of Frieren doesn't bore me at all. It's beautifully made.

Would 100% be down for more Frieren videos. Frieren got me so invested in the world and the characters so far. World building has been great and Its definitely my most anticipated each week now.

I love the slow pace. Feels like I'm watching a 40 min ep instead of 24. It's weird to call it slow paced though, it seems like a lot stuff is happing at the same time, so much so that I find myself checking in the time thinking the ep is almost other just to be joyfully surprised it's still half way.

Unlucky that eminence in shadow season 2 did not get adapted as well as frieren. Making the choices they made, I feel that they are missing the point of many scenes and fights. That said the last episode that came out was amazing. It really captured the essence of the novels imo.

I love watching how Seldom the characters are. the traveling is so far and places like villages is far in between. That there is rarely anything that excites the party into full on emotion. They might get happier or angrier about something but it is largely noticed by observing their face and demeanor. There is almost never a outburst of any kind coming from a character.

Frieren tells its stories like no other. Just about each episode has a message with significant impact on my emotions

I wasn't expecting too much from Frieren at the beginning of the season, which made it a huge surprise when I ended up loving it as much as I do. It definitely deserves the praise it's gotten! Bare in mind, fans of FMAB are well known for sabotaging the review scores of other anime to prevent Full metal from being dethroned, so that alone makes this an even bigger deal for Frierenn. In terms of its pacing, I actually love the slower take it has compared to other action packed fantasy. I get my fill of action from Eminence in Shadow and Mushoku tensei as it is, and it makes the scenes that do have action in the show even more meaningful by contrast. The fights feel earned. These aren't adventurers that are trolling around looking a scrap around every corner, they're people with their own goals. With how much I've enjoyed this series, it doesn't shock me to learn they've been so near flawlessly faithful to the original material. The only downside is There won't be Cut content episode from you :/ Still glad to hear you talk about it! Can't wait for the next video

Tbf the FMA review score is so long at the top because the fanatical fanbase. The score is artificially kept high by their bots and they have downvoted all other competitors, it is almost pathetic what they are doing.

Frieren's action scenes are so well done, and she is OP done right. Watching her interact with her new companions is great. Like finding a person sinking into a bottomless swamp, does she save him or no, because she might get dirty (even though she lifts him by magic)

What I love about Sousou no Frieren is how well it displays time to an elf. Its already been 3 years since she started traveling with Fern. But it doesnt feel like that for us - its been like 5 episodes per year at most. And I think that is so perfect, because that is likely how time feels to Frieren. Its been a mere 3 years after all. My favorite way to measure time is how tall Fern is compared to Frieren.

I havent watched anime for awhile until this show came out, if the quality and adaption stays true it will definitely be one of my favorites next to FMA

I think Frieren does deserve to be way up there, maybe even #1 and it would be because it has so many things going for it. The main interesting concept about it is that despite Frieren having travelled the world, when we join up her in the story she's actually experiencing it for the first time; and we get to experience it in the exact same way. It's similar to how our own memories work, how we gloss over events in our past the first time around; but revisiting creates a whole new and more vivid experience. Something that also stands out is their portrayal of demons is basically truer to their 'original' form of cold, logical, heartless, and sadistic; none of the whole "demon lord" trope stuff that goes on these days of them being humans with horns. Course they maintain the appearance of 'humans with horns' to great effect whenever they demonstrate their true nature to the humans around them. I can only imagine that Frieren resonates with introverts in general, because there are many people who do take things a lot slower; to be the ones watching from behind as the hot blooded person they're with goes charging in, and inevitably have to clean up the resulting mess. Course while the whole experience would be tiresome at the moment, upon reflection it would maybe be a fun memory to have.

Another anime that does the immortal trope really phenomenal is to your eternity I highly recommend it if you liked Frieren

ive always been into action animes/manga like dragon ball, naruto, jujutsu kaisen etc, but this anime is just amazing, perfect pacing, perfect humor, the animation is beautiful the whole season, and man the emotion and characters, this is my favorite anime of all time

I loved every single second of it. Never felt so constantly captivated by a TV show, anime or not. It's complex, yet so easy to understand. And mostly all about characters, which are the best I've seen in a long, long time. Modern classic, indeed.

The show is popular because of the waifu being a bit original. It's not much better than others, it's just do the same thing more subtle with a theme at least of time, but for kids.

I'm usually an action anime type of person, but I love this show. It's very comfy. The scenery, animation and soundtrack is beautiful and her going back to familiar places and reminiscing about her friends who are long gone feels relatable. It's pretty unique as far as anime goes.

As someone who rarely if ever likes anime - friends have been trying to convince me otherwise for literally decades, and in that time I found maybe two movies and a series or two I found good - I was pointed towards Frieren a few days ago. Yet another attempt at making me like anime. Only this one did stick, and to an extent that last happened with Ghost in the Shell. So, yes, in a way that is me saying that this is my top anime, though I never before thought about having one. I also think part of it is that it works in contrast to our accelerating daily lives; I think just enough backdrop plot to keep us watching in combination with the slow pace is a large part of the magic here. It also contrasts a lot with how many movies and series work these days, with often rapid cuts and constant rapid plot movement, which makes Frieren refreshing in comparison.

I’m 60. 1, 2, and even 10 years isn’t much. The temptation to become a hermit is very easy to fall into. Science says that our brains relate experienced time is roughly based on the percentage of the total lived time. Even as you realize your time is running out, it’s difficult to respect a day, an hour, or even time as a whole. A whole day goes by and if you don’t make an effort, things just don’t get done. You blink, and the day is over. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to not have a natural aging. There isn’t really any reason why we couldn’t remain scout 25 forever (barring misadventure). There already exist animals on earth ( lobsters, for example) that don’t really age like humans. I don’t think it would be sad, but reflecting on it is definitely melancholy.

Yes, I'd say this anime deserves it's current ranking. It's a well thought out story faithfully adapted to the media it's being presented in, and I can honestly say I can relate to the main character too. Living a long time, you get to see how the world around you changes, and after you've lost friends and family, you begin to wonder why you didn't get closer to them while they were still alive.

Frieren is necessarily centered around "character development". but unlike most titles where that's true, the drawn-out, quiet scenes in Frieren force you to view the story through the eyes of each character. the story's not just told through dialogue and action: you have to actually live the mind of each character, and that's how it becomes immersive.
