How Gears & Clutch Packs Work for 6 Speed Automatic Transmission: PART 2

Take a look at the bare minimum when setting up the automatic transmission. This 3D animation will show the general overview of how the auto trans works. There are modifications made to this gearbox that detract from the original.
Watch how each gear is selected when engaging clutch packs.
This video well go slightly more in depth than Lesics "Automatic Transmission, How it works?" with clutch pack examples.
Thomas Schwenke and Skyline Tutorials do an okay job as well. But being close up to more components does help with the learning process.
This is one of many kinds of automatic transmission. Many other types are designed differently and use different parts, but essentially they are all planetary gear systems. And they will all function generally the same way.

I’ve not seen a video about these as good as this one, thank you for all the effort you put in! I’m still not sure how exactly the power is transmitted through when c3/p1 is being stopped though. Autos are just magic tho

- 08:02 the c3/p1 ring gear stops moving in 3rd gear. There is a piston located by the clutches. Causing sun and planetary gears to move only instead. This will show you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p7WjpcKq36zVaZc.html
