▶️Introduction
Globe valves can be used to open, close and regulate/throttle flow. This type of valve is a linear motion valve.
Advantages
Globe valves can be used for open, close and throttling applications.
Seat leakage is low because the disc is pressed at 90 degrees into the seat, this allows for a lot of force to press the disc onto the seat.
Disadvantages
Z-Body type globe valves have a large pressure drop due to the number of direction changes as the flow passes through the valve.
The bonnet is usually larger compared to other similar flow capacity valves.
Globe valves are more expensive than other valves with a similar flow capacity.
This type of valve is susceptible to damage in systems that suffer from pressure fluctuations/pulsations.
Globe valves are usually heavier than equivalent flow capacity valves.

I was just looking to get a general idea of a globe valve as I had never heard of one before. I did not expect to be virtually pampered by an absolute ripper of a presentation and explanation.

Great video. Another good mention for the backseat is the ability to easily access and replace packing while the valve is inline.

Good informative but i do not understand the backseat concept.As we try to close valve in the presence of the fluid at backseat chamber .Fluid does not have any path to go and it would be impossible to close for imcompressible fluid the result would be leakage of packing .but this does not happened in it , which is making me confuse as there is no fluid flow simulation .
