If you're talking about the mouse part, it's even more so because in no way does that sentence imply that we are talking about a certain mouse, rather than mice in general. Dave got that one correct, even tho Duolingo disagrees. EDIT. The same mistake about a moose and a mouse is even more wrong on Duolingo's part. It's obvious that the subject is about those species in general.
@izzardclips9350
@izzardclips9350 2 жыл бұрын
@@jokumukamikalie But saying the moose or the mouse means the species in general. I would say either the mouse or mices would be correct, a mouse wouldn´t. You can understand from the context that the sentence is about the species, not any individual mouse- Well, technically it could be but only in a very weird conversation.
@JESSEHARKONEN
@JESSEHARKONEN 2 жыл бұрын
@@izzardclips9350 I think you are otherwise correct but I am pretty sure the word "mice" can't be "mices" because "mice" is already the plural form of "mouse"
@izzardclips9350
@izzardclips9350 2 жыл бұрын
@@JESSEHARKONEN Yeas, you're right about that. The plural is "mice".
@Toetech0
@Toetech0 2 жыл бұрын
@@izzardclips9350 wouldn't it be "the mouse" as some spesific mouse. Usually "the" is used when talking about something spesific for example something they've already talked about before. f. ex. "Remember we talked about the mouse that was in my attic?". And "a mouse" when you are talking just generally about mice. So in this very case it should be A mouse because it's referring to just mice in general not a spesific mouse that is for example on the field, on your feet, or you talked about it before.
@SimoExMachina2
@SimoExMachina2 2 жыл бұрын
The problem with the quizz was that the phrase in Finnish makes no clear distinction between "a mouse" and "the mouse", since we don't know anything whether the mouse has already been introduced. So this was a weakness of the test and of the way it automatically grades the answers, not so much Dave's phrasing of the sentence. You got it right in my book Dave.

@@SaintTyrael The sentence structure "Tuolla on … xssä" is never a correct translation for “There are … in x”. It should always be simply “xssä on …”. @janiturunen4059 2 жыл бұрын
@@6891x Well, according to Wikipedia it has actually been called Praagi at some time. This is probably because of that the time we first heard of the city was during the time we were part of Sweden. In Swedish it is called 'Prag'. Most Germanic languages use a 'g' I believe. Also words like pagan (Latin orig.) have become pakana in Finnish (not pagana). As another user pointed out Portugal actually has a g sound, but in practice in rural areas you would probably hear it pronounced with a 'k' like sound.
