How Good Is The Low Rider S for Distance Riding?

I got a softail low rider s because I wanted to travel longer distance, and on a sportster it was rather painful. So I wanted to talk about whether or not the Low Rider S meets my expectation when it comes to traveling long distance.
Also, I'm going to ride DGR this year on May 22nd to support Men's Health. IF you'd like to show your support you can sponsor me here: gfolk.me/IronBornRider

Great video. Baggers are more comfortable for sure, a lot of people lose sight of the fact that a day of driving in a car/truck is fatiguing. It’s challenging to sit in my office chair for and entire day exactly the same position. If you can ~4hrs before it’s uncomfortable, then you’re good. Anything beyond that will not be super fun regardless of the vehicle.

I have a 21 street bob that I plan a few out of state trips with the wife on the back. 300-500 mile rides. I really didn't want a touring motorcycle since I'm only planning a few long distance trips a year. The rest of the time I usually ride 100 miles or less solo when I do ride. Mostly commute and visit family near by. I do have the HD quarter fairing and saddleman step up seat that make a world of difference for longer rides. Ordered the torque motorcycle saddlebags after watching your video on it. Putting them on later this week. Great video!

Love the trip! 😎 look at some cruise control to help with the trips. That’s been a huge help in my trips. And also a shorter windshield can actually help even more with buffeting. I use to get buffeting but then lowered it so it hits below my helmet and now I don’t get any from any speed. Just as another option

Probably good to remember that the "rider triangle" is relative, based a persons height (which I don't believe you mentioned). You mentioned the mid-controls which is only 1 part of the triangle. It would be helpful to mention the seat and the bars as well. The seat looks after-market (?) but the bars appear to be stock (with some bar risers?). In my experience the highway pegs go a long way to ease rider discomfort. Cruise control is also a huge help. Good video. Thanks

Lowrider s brilliant for long ride I two up on mine. Cruise control, bucket seat, tour pak, saddle bags, 6inch pull back risers, forward controls and literally really comfortable. Bike is geared up for long ride heated hand grips no vibration issues with hands. I also do a lot of short rides majority is in town but with a pavilion low speed manoeuvres the lowrider s dose it brilliantly. Yes it will cost the same as a touring model if you set up the lowrider s for seriously long distance riding but it still looking like a softail which I love the look of and take of the detachable bags when you want to. Also get to choose which bags you want i preferred the leather one's with the brass buckle's.

Same guy that commented on your other video today. I took a 2500 mile ride to the Sierra mts on a Z900RS and after an hour and a half I definitely needed a break. My new LRS even with stock seat would have been at least as comfortable. Let 'em make jokes about your age. I know I'm older than you and still ride a regular Z900 too. That would have been a little taxing on that trip. All in all, I'm looking forward to somewhat long trips on the Harley. I don't mind a little discomfort. New sub.

Depends on the year … I got the 2022 lowrider st. I put about 900 miles in 3 days and it’s the second longer trip on it.. I now have thrashing supplies floor boards. And I’ll tell you what.. it’s crucial… the first trip I had stock pegs and my feet started to get uncomfortable.. but that’s all.. I also got a 10” windscreen and the floorboards. It is so much more comfortable.. it’s nice to be able to move your feet and to have a flat platform.. total game changer… I highly recommend them.. others probably make them too.. but thrashing supply are super easy.. you use the stock hardware.. takes a few minutes.. probably should get the brake lever and shifter and linkage along with it. Then you can set it up to your liking,.. I think you can easily do a 400 mile run with floor boards.. it’s pretty comparable to a bagger.. the new suspension is much better on the st

@@IronBornRider yeah I get that. Do you still have your stock seat? I’m willing to bet if you tried it again after using the saddle man for so long, you’d really appreciate the stock one. I had the la pera step on on my FXLRS, and I’m running that same seat you have on my dyna, and for me it’s fantastic for spirited rides, but it really falls short on the long rides. I wish it didn’t be like that, but after getting to try dozens and dozens of seats at work, I’ve realized it really do be like that.

Cruise control will change your life. A taller windshield would not hurt either. I'm 5'6" and have a 15" on my Road Warrior. Can see over it just fine. Works fantastic on my 2020 Road King Special. As an observation, Seems as though the King get's overlooked a bit when it comes to Touring. If you don't need the big Fairing and all the electronics, been there done that, the King is a serious long distance touring machine. Take care.

I have a ‘22 lowrider S. Took a 300 mi ride and my shoulders and hands weren’t feeling great. Hips off and on depending how I was sitting (I’m 5’10”). Definitely need risers for sure. What height are you and how high are your pullback risers? Also who makes your mini floorboards? One thing I’m not happy about is no matter how you have the mirrors position, you don’t get good coverage and I wanted to mount them under the bars but because I don’t have risers they interfere with the tank. Beyond what I mentioned, I absolutely love it and it’s the 117 Milwaukee 8 of a beast! Would love to do a stage 2 with a torque cam maybe next year. Thanks for posting this vid btw!

@@IronBornRider Thank you for your fast reply! Yeah I noticed you’re arms weren’t in a perpendicular line as much riding, hence why I asked. The HD dealership though wants to charge 8 hrs of labor to do any risers above 6” because of what’s involved. They said 6” and under didn’t require more than about 2-3 hrs of labor. I was hoping to avoid going taller to save $$$. Looks like I won’t be hahaha. With the floorboards, did you have to buy the adapters or clevises separately? That was the only downside I noticed with that brand. Joker Machine makes ones very similar, but they are pricey (around $180 per pr).

Add cruise control. I replace the stock bars (which you did) and install cruise control. It took all of the arm, back and shoulder strress out of the ride. Being able to relax both arms (alternatively taking them off the grips) is very helpful. Which seat do you have? How do you rate it for comfort over the stock seat?
