The raptors turned Bargnani into Kawhi. They traded him to the Knicks for a package that included a first overall pick. That pick was later used to draft Jakob Poetl who was part of the Demar for Kawhi trade two years later 😅

I still remember Tim and Sid breaking the news. Andrea Bargnani has been traded. Sid, *we got pieces back*. Masai Ujiri was a genius.

3 yr span at 19.3 pts a game with relatively good shooting splits. He was just a different style big back than compared to others and they didn’t really build a team around him that accentuated his skill set.

He couldn't play defence and couldn't switch. He was reluctant to pass and shot it as much as he could. He was disliked by teammates and fans for his shit attitude. I think there are lots of Bargnani types in the NBA today that are never going to make an all star team.

@@pex3 lets keep it to things we know, saying he had a bad attitude when you and me weren't in the locker room is a statement that goes in one ear and out the other to me because players have been represented one way and years later we find that none of that was true. Lets keep it to basketball where the players they put around him weren't complimentary to even seeing what he could have been. There are plenty of flawed players who are complimented by the teammates around them. That's a successful team, not to be incompetent and surround him with other flawed players that cant make up for one another's deficiency's. He's basically a poor mans Lauri, which isn't too bad.

U cant build a team around him, hes a horrible defender and can't rebound for shit and jacks up shots on offense. As for him averging 20 points for 3 straight seasons when you start a guy and give him all those minutes and give the green light that the raptors gave him ur gonna average some points.

Should've never been taken at 1. Him being above average on offence doesnt make up for him being injury prone, a horrible defender, horrible rebounder, and just plain lazy on the court

I agree. Wasn’t the strongest draft though. Aldridge and Roy were the only 2 lottery players who were definitely better, and Roy’s career wasn’t long enough

He wasn’t a great defender but I don’t think he was horrible. Maybe on the perimeter, a 7 footer is always useful around the basket on defense
