Would have entered as captain in any club today from the first moment. It was absolutely incredible to follow his career, how his character affected everyone on the pitch, whether it was in club or national team.

My friend's mom ran the WWF shop where Schmeichel worked for a few weeks. It was right across an entrance to Tivoli that is no longer in use on HC Andersens Boulevard. She recalls that at the time he was still not 100% sure if football would be his career - or at least that's what he told her.
