I met him one time back in '94 at a convenience store in Lewisville, Tx. I was behind him in line and he asked the clerk for a can of Copenhagen. As soon as he spoke, I recognized his voice without seeing his face. When me and my dad walked outside, my dad asked him if he was Randy White and he said "yeah', and my dad not knowing what else to say, asked him if he could shake his hand and Randy said sure. It was kind of awkward, but Randy was a nice guy. He was my dad's favorite player, it was really something that we got to meet him like that.

I’ll never forget this clip, the 1980 season finale, Dallas needed to beat the Eagles by 25 points to win the NFC East. The Eagles were near midfield when they completed a slant to WR Scott Fitzkee, who took off for the goal line. White chased down Fitzkee tackling him at the 5 yard line.

As a lifelong Steelers fan I have so much respect for Randy White. He not only dominated opponents, he made plays all over the field as if he was a gigantic safety. In the 1960s through the 1980s some teams drafted players with rare freak abilities over technicians. The Cowboys with Hollywood Henderson, Too Tall Jones & Randy White had defenses that were fun to watch.

Met him at his BBQ place years ago. I was killing time between closing and funding of a real estate transaction. He came up and introduced himself and asked how everything was. I told him it was great and we talked about the Landry years for a few minutes. I told him about a picture of him in the paper once, he had an opposing player by the jersey with one hand, Redskins I think, and the player's helmet in the other. It looked like he was beating the guy with his own helmet. He had this little smile, and said, "Well, things happened." Nicest guy in the world. You would never know what a savage he was on the field. My heroes have always been Cowboys.

Randy is my all-time favorite. I have been blessed to be able to call him a friend now which still is hard to believe but I have asked him about that game, I had it in my head it was vs. the Rams but he corrected me that it was the Bears, he said the guy kept chopping him in his knees and we warned him twice, the third time Randy said "I grabbed his face mask and tried to rip his head off." Dead serious. I laughed but realized he wasn't using a euphemism, he meant it! Randy is as good a person as he was a player, I've watched him be approached and every single time he is kind and gracious. We were at a shooting range and one of the range masters was a young marine, a asked him if he knew who that was (Randy) he didn't but when I told him his eyes got big and asked can you introduce me?! I did and Randy picked up on the knife the young man was wearing as Randy builds them, the guy shows it to him and Randy in a tank top & shorts pulls one of his out of his waistband and the kids thinkin that's awesome, Randy says "you like that?" Of course it's yes! Randy says write down your address for me and I'll send you one. That's the kinda guy he is. A+++ dude.

I always heard Randy was strong as heck in high school benched 300 and over 400 in college he was never weak. He also wasn't small. 6 ft 4 260? He was a phenom on the D line. And I'm from Baltimore so I followed him in college.

I had a friend that played on the offensive line in the NFL during the Randy White era and he stated that Randy could do whatever he wanted to do and no one could stop him except on the plays that he took off....as most all NFL players will do once in awhile.

People forget how good the Cowboys front four was. Randy White and Harvey Martin were so good playing off each other. Harvey had 20 sacks in 1977 and 14 in 1976 and 1978. Then there was Too Tall Jones who if he didn't get a sack could knock the ball down with his tall height. If they were doubling Randy then Harvey Martin would get a sack or Too Tall.

Got to see him one time when he was doing a live remote for one of the local sports radio stations here in the DFW area (early 90s before the Ticket). You don't realize how big he is until you see him up close and in person. It was like looking at the side of a house, and I'm over six feet tall myself!

When my son was a teen, Randy White comes into the steakhouse my son was a waiter. The hostess hadn't a clue who he was and informed Randy it'd be a 30 minute wait. My son spoke to the hostess and said, "You can't make this man wait! That's Randy "FUCKING" White!" She turned to Randy, "Is that right?" Without hesitation, "Yes mam, I AM Randy "FUCKING" White!"😂😂

I wouldn't say that he was the first undersized, athletic DT in history. In my lifetime, Alan Page set the standard for undersized DT's who thrived on quickness and athleticism. Now, even as a Vikings fan, and I love me some Alan Page, if you gave me a choice between White and Page, I would be awful tempted by White.

@@paineintheass233 The time that Page played in was one in which the size of linemen was growing, pushing up to the 270 level, and Page himself was losing weight. Towards the end of his time with the Vikings, he was down to less than 220 pounds. Page's game was getting off the ball fast, hitting a gap fast, and exploiting it.

I saw Randy's White first play in professional football. Dallas played Detroit in Memphis for a pre-season game in 1975 (I think it could be 76). I was 12 years old. Back then, they played 6 preseason games and every now and then Memphis would get an NFL pre-season game. Randy was on the kickoff coverage and he was the first person down the field. He hit the Detroit player who caught the kickoff at the 10 yard line and knocked him out cold. I will never forget the guy laying out unconsciousness back around the 5 yard line.
