A lot of villainous teams are notorious for having grunts with a ton of non evolved Pokémon. Not team plasma. Their grunts sent out scolipede that always outsped you and hit you with that flinch from steamroller. They weren’t messing around o_o

I still remember how in my first ever playthrough of Pokemon White in like 2011 I caught myself a Venipede early on and after it evolved into Scolipede it just broke the game and became better than my starter. Somehow my 10 year old brain managed to realise that Swords Dance plus Megahorn is a good combo and I felt so smart for it.

Honestly scolipede is a great mon for playthroughs. Great speed and a real heavy hitter. Too bad competetive is a different ballpark

Darumaka outclasses Tepig's evo line as a physical fire-type; and Petilil outclasses Snivy; especially if you evolve it in the 2-level window it has between Giga Drain as Petilil and Quiver Dance as Lilligant [Also the in-game trade one comes with a 100% chance of 31IV Sp.Atk]. The only one who dosen't get outclassed early in-game is Oshawott, and even then, Basculin gives it a solid run for it's money when it shows up [Basculin's Adaptability STAB is disgustingly powerful. I remember using it in USUM and Z-moves would oneshot Totems though Protect... that's 30% of the expected damage there] And Oshawott dosen't get outclassed simply due to lack of competition. Gyarados is post-game after all and Unova has a surprisingly small pool of Water-types.

My first playthrough I ditched my Pignite for a timburr and never looked back, it eventually became a solo challenge with a severely underleveled emolga providing the only backup I needed. I tore through the game never once considering the fact that I should probably get more pokemon until I got to the elite 4 and literally all the wild pokemon needed like 20 levels to be worth using, and my 12 year old attention span was not gonna do that. It was fun though.

Steamroller was never Scolipede's signature move. All the way from Gen V it's been available to Golem.

Yup, Unova is where the bugs truly started shining and to this day it has stayed this way, with every new Bug type being good to awesome. Even Butterfree got a Gmax form to boost its viability.

Sure, it isn't that good but it's far better than other sucky bugs like Beautifly, Dustox and Mothim, due to Compound Eyes, good Special Attack, access to Hurricane and powder moves, which become more accurate thanks to its ability, and its signature Powder move that blows up Fire types. And Quiver Dance.

Its funny how gen 5 fanboys try to make everything about gen 5. I agree there are good bugs in unova but how can you think that bugs were just bad previously when you had Scyther, Scizor, Heracross! And design wise I don't think you can get better than that

@@akshayvarma2309 Both heracross and Scizor were from gen 2 and bug-type attacks from that gen were useless af (except from Heracross's Megahorn but it could only use at level 54). So as bug type pokemons back then, they were useless. Gen 5 changed that by a lot, it brought a lot of good moves like Quiver Dance and X-Scissor and brought also a lot of good Bug-type pokemon like Scolipede, Volcarona and Genesect the first Mythical bug type pokemon

Scollipede has to be one of the luckiest mons ever. It's original ability Quick Feet, was rendered nigh useless as it couldn't be toxiced and burning halved it's physical moves base power. It's amazing how good it's new ability was, and how good it made it, seeing how it's just another regional bug. Maybe someday, they'll remove more useless abilities I.E Stunfisk with Limber for water absorb or smth

I like how in 5th gen, it was viable in OU, UU, and RU, yet it kept falling down the tiering rungs until it hit NU, in which it got banned. This thing is really good at pretending to not be a threat, then getting banned in a lower tier

For all the Bug types they introduced in Gen 5, almost every single one of them were either monsters or at least above average. Leavanny is the weakest, but it's stats are undoubtedly better than filler trash bugs like Butterfree, Beautifly, Dustox, Kricketune, Mothim, etc. Along with Scolipede, there's Genesect, Volcarona, Accelgor, Galvantula, Crustle, Escavalier, Durant. Every single one of them is solid for an ingame playthrough, and a huge perecent of these have great designs as well.

Leavanny is a very useful Pokémon in single player. It has Razor leaf already when you catch it and learns Steamroller quickly. Later replaced wit X-scizzor. Leavanny evolves through happiness and with how fast bikes are and the long straight stretches of land in the bridges getting it up to it is easy. Butterfree also is useful very early but becomes outclassed usually before the 5th gym. Leavanny is more than strong enough to last you all the way to the league and even help you beat it.

Leavanny Is not the weakest, it had 490 base stats total and 500 in gen 6, that's way more than galvantula's The only thing holding leavanny Back it's His typing, but in single play it doesn't matter that much, leavanny can tank anything (even weaker fire and flying attacks like air cutter) and can OHKO a Lot lf things, it also gets Sword Dance and some nice coverage moves

I have a full on bug team. This beast has helped me multiple times and I love it. It's my third favorite Pokemon of Gen 5, with Eelektross being 1st and Krookodile second.

@@HardePeople i would assume latias just gets hard walled naturally by scolipede. Like if you change its moves and ev/iv spread so much what's the point in using it. Just run a scolipede counter instead

Scolipede was one of my favorite mons to run in gen 6 singles. I was always playing around with wacky sets with it since speed boost + baton pass lends itself to a lot of creativity. I remember an Iron Defense passing set I used for a while which I'd use to pass to slow specially bulky mons with high power and sweep with pokemon you wouldn't think could. So much fun

Scolipede's always been my favourite Pokemon, so it's nice to hear what it's done competitively! I don't battle competitively, but if it gets into Gen 8 I am definitely using one. (I even got a Speed Boost Venipede from the GTS in advance, just in case)

Damn, I was literally 5 "your time" seconds from being the only VGC placing on this vid. That's pretty heartbreaking, lol. 12th Mexico special 2018 and 34th Madison regional both on last round losses. It was the best Charizard y and tapu killer with rock slide, endeavor, protect, poison jab

I thrilled when I saw this on my recomended. I got into pokemon in gen 5 thanks to the Scolipede line's design. I literally just saw a Venipede card from the TCG that a kid in school had and I instantly clicked. Scolipede's been my favorite mon ever since.
