Oklahoma was 8 total points from being undefeated in the regular season last year. I don’t hear many people talking about that.

As an OU fan, JA threw for 361 in his first start. 4 interceptions. 1 month to throw a o line together. So yeah its the sec and tougher game. I get it, but 9 months to form a new o line from the best o line coach who constantly is putting linemen in the nfl. By far the best wide receivers in the sec and top 5 nationally. A defense much better than last year. So sleep on us and realize that we are still on the rise. Eventually we will throw out a defense thats 14 points a game.

What gets me is since 2018 OU is 13 /2 verses the SEC. Now because they sewed SEC onto their jerseys they are inferior. JA was a true freshman last year. He is more mature. More Intune with the speed and offense. Coach V has finally started to see the seedlings he planted sprout. And damn they are healthy. OU will be just fine.

If he is that Elite 11 Champion & Denton Guyer QB that took his team to the state final, then the SEC might be in trouble. If he's the QB that threw 3 INT's against Arizona... then 7 or 8 wins will be OU's ceiling.

IF Arnold can be a Heisman finalist with that oline crown his ass as the #1 pick in the 2026 draft

In the mighty sec with all them powerhouse universities probably 4 wins ..like Arkansas and vandy damn and A/M.. Missouri..south Carolina and Auburn Ole Miss and miss state lol the thought of having to line up against all those second string NFL ready teams week in and week out is just terrifying..lol...I just hope we can scratch out a first down or two a game

If he is Heisman finalist then OU is a SEC champion or runner up and a CFP 1st round winner and probably 2 CFP wins. Plus he’d have 3 1000yd receivers or maybe 6 600yd Receivers

OU fan here and we are an unknown. I feel the defense is going to really surprise SEC people because OU has a lot coming back. On offense, its a lot of unknowns but being around football on all levels my entire life I can tell you a team with a young first year starting QB and a salty defense wants-needs a potent running game. No one knows what to expect from the running game but the rushing attack will without a doubt have more of say in what this team does than anyone is talking about. I have ZERO faith in the kicking game. At one time you could look at what is coming back and predict what will happen but in this day and age of no transfer restrictions its hard to say who will do what on any team if they scored/lost much in the portal. Just glad to see OU in the SEC and looking forward to the atmosphere. OU will take some lumps without a doubt because a team must be historically good not to in the SEC but they will deliver a few lumps of their own. SEC, glad to be a part of the family!

JD.... You are answering a 'what if' question... I wanna hear what you personally think about Jax and the OU team as a whole and where you think they will end up... Is Vegas missing something other than dipping into "bowl syndrome?"

One thing for sure and I might be negative Nancy, but this fairly new offensive line has got to protect this young Jackson Arnold, because if he goes down due to their inability to keep the defense off of him, this teams in trouble.

My only concern is the INTs. I would not be surprised if the stats you mentioned are near true. Maybe 3700 with 46tds. But more like 20ints would be my guess. But the D will also produce 18-20 INTs. OU will be fine but Arnold will be just outside the Heisman Finalist list.

The big question mark is mostly around the O-Line. But we do still have a Joe Moore Award winning Coach Bill Bedenbaugh. I never forget that. But a man needs tools to work. I think the Shop is finally getting stocked up. OU has been in recovery mode for a few years. 1st year was the hardest. 2nd year was better and improved. Players believe what Coach Brent Venables is building. They like it. Us fans like it. The staff has been on a non stop recruiting tour. I think people will will be surprised. BV has been gearing up for the gauntlet. And the 1st season definitely is one H of a gauntlet. But this is where we've always wanted to be. SEC teams will only make us better. And if we lose to an SEC team. It carries more weight than a lose to a B12 team.

Look, under Coach B, an average/good line at OU is the envy of most programs. That's not crazy talk. Just real. Replacing OL starters can be tough at most programs, but until Coach B puts a turd on the field, I ain't buying into the Chelicken Little ish. It ain't like the dudes on the current roster are scrubs. Let's slow our roll and see how the OL shakes out before we write them off. If the OL is average/good for OU standards, then Arnold is on track for a helluva season. Does he have a daunting schedule against the best? Absolutely! But dude is surrounded by talent, so unless the wheels fall off the wagon, no pun intended, he'll do just fine.

If JA is a Heisman finalist then OU is winning 10 games minimum, probably 11 games. I don't even know of that is arguable. Even the people who dislike OU would probably admit that.

Venebles feels so strongly about Arnold that he let Gabriel leave without putting up a fight. You don’t let one of the most productive QB’s in the history of college football walk out the door unless you’re all in on the new guy.

I think this totally possible, next year. JA needs a year of development before we can realistically expect that from him. Having said all that, I hope I’m wrong about this season. Boomer!

I see a lot of talk about how much tougher the SEC is over everyone else week in and week out. I just do not buy it. Statistically, the Big 12 has had the highest scoring dog fight games week in and week out. I am not saying that the big 12 is the best conference at all. I am just saying, the defense will not have as much high pressure defensive battles against high scoring offences week in and week out. It is like those big 12 defenses are playing 2 games in one in terms of plays. Something that the SEC for sure cannot say and are probably 4th on the list of all of the conferences? What if it is a welcomed change for OU to not have to be in a dog fight aerial battle every week and they end up doing very well due to their experience? I just think that there needs to be a wait and see attitude instead of the pretentious, we are the best attitude that most SEC fans have over other conferences. Note that I am also an OU fan and we are joining the conference.

You know I think Andy was right on the money. We have 1 game to go by with Jackson. And he threw for 366. I don't care about picks, that's something very fixable that only time on the field can erase. 366 against a top 10 secondary...give the kid the benefit that you give Ohio State or ND. Jackson is built for the SEC. And OU has eaten the SEC so why all the BS that we can't compete in it? Just a lot of talking heads out there that have a lot invested in trashing OU. Which really makes no sense at all...

What if Oklahoma beats Texas again?

Oklahoma will only be as good as the offensive coordinators diagram the right plays,,the offensive line holds up and pushes the defense,,we control the clock better,not play this 6,7 play 2 minute drives,,eat some clock,,if we go to 1/2 time up by 10-14 on the Tenn.,Aub,,Mizz etc,,Texas,,AND we get the ball to start 3rd,,,,a 10,12 play 8 min.drive scoring a td will start getting people's attention,,,gotta do a 100%better job converting 3rd downs 5-6 yds inside our 40,,,,,We can easily start 7-0!

Let's remember that a QB CAN'T be a Heisman finalist without at least a GOOD O-Line, and usually a great O-Line is needed. IF Oklahoma has a Heisman finalist at QB, it'll be because that O-Line gel'd right out the gate, and if THAT happens, OU could be a 10+ win team.
