Today I attempt to see how many farms it takes to beat Borderlands 2 with only legendary gear.

I put tons of effort into every video I make, but this video had extra effort and quality put into it, because Borderlands 2 is my favorite game of all time. You can go ahead and harass me in the comments about "someone else already did this challenge", but I wanted to try it and put my own spin on a legendary only challenge.

If you ever try and do this again, or just in general for future playthroughs Lilith's cult following quest line ends in a legendary shield despite the fact it shows a purple shield reward

And that shield is great, and can over-perform its level fairly decently if you like to get in close and are fighting flesh enemies like bandits or animals!

The mission is incredibly hard because of the first mission in the line which forces you to have a fire weapon which the only two available to my knowledge are the infinity pistol and the emperor which are hard to get in fire and are bad guns. The next best is the baby maker which is also not easy to get in fire.

God knows how many hours I have in the franchise but when you called the EXP Loaders “exploders” their name finally clicked for me. I feel so awakened and stupid.

@@Skull_she_heryou're either lying or you have a mod to increase drops because I've been playing this game since release and never once has he dropped it on a story kill... I've made 100s of new characters and most of them I got through the uvhm playthrough and I've never seen it once. Maybe I'm just unlucky

@@xdfishtsu he definitely does drop it but you’d have better luck farming a perfect part dpuh from savage lee, about 5k hours and I’ve gotten to drop maybe once or twice, never really went out of my way for it because I couldn’t be asked to farm a mid legendary for hours on end

The vault hunter's relic only reduces common drop chance. It's effectively useless because its best to farm specific drops anyway :)

Wrong it actually only increase blue drop rates by exactly 5% and nothing else

Meaning when deciding to drop an item it only increases the chance that it drops as a blue it doesnt actually change the formula for commones or greens

I found the hardest part in my playthrough was setting the bandits on fire without a fire weapon in the flame of the firehawk quest line.

I swear your luck in this game is incredible. No BS, when I did a brand new run recently, I only seen one legendary the entire time and that included far more grinding that this video. Even back in the 360/PS3 days, I rarely ever seen legendaries

I did 6 playthroughs overall (baby numbers i know) and for some reason i got the infinity on first kill in 5 of them.

True, but I wanted to see what legendaries you get throughout the game, and use guns and gear I normally wouldn't use/get in a normal run.

Pretty good video. Game audio seemed a bit low, and the silence between during some sections were strange but overall very well edited. I recommend learning the dedicated legendary drop locations first if you continue into TVHM or do another legendary challenge run, it makes things easier if you know exactly what weapons/grenades/shields you want to farm for a playthrough. Also it would be cool to see you do all of the DLCs legendary only if you wanted to make this into a series.

@@LookIntoGamingif you have to farm bnk-3r again turn of the settings for the green corrosive goo and stuff it makes it so that no drops fall through the floor (i think its called physx or something)

To fix the crashes, you could try disabling physX and/or the ultra HD texture pack, it worked for me at least. Awesome video btw, it's nice to finally see someone trying a different route without any DLCs!

Thanks for the tip! I heard that from another source as well, but I like physX and the texture pack, however, I will disable them if it becomes a big problem.

Having too much FPS makes PhysX very buggy usually resulting in overflows and engine crashes apparently having above 90+ FPS makes this much more common @@LookIntoGaming

I think you are the only BL2 youtuber that uses physx on high. Unfortunately it's notoriously buggy, I think especially if you don't have Nvidia hardware

Loved the video, look forward to more! For future runs a potential fix to the crashing issue is to turn off the ultra HD textures in the DLC menu, used to crash constantly but in the 30-40 hours or so after turning it off I have yet to crash a single time since, hope this helps!

Solid video, great voice. Solid 1st and 2nd monitor video (1st monitor if one wants to see stuff, 2nd monitor video if one just wants something solid to listen to in the background of a gaming session). Only thing I'd say could "amp up" this, would've been some type of low music playing during the silent parts, or maybe a bit more boosted game volume at those parts :D

Maya was my favorite vault hunter. You can phaselock from across the whole map. And you can lock basically anything that’s not a vehicle or a turret or giant. Also I’m surprised you didn’t do the hunter helquist farm

ive been playing bl2 for a bit recently, and have only gotten one legendary. some electric elemental grenade called the storm front. and, im not gonna sugarcoat it, it took 3 grenades and 3 sniper bullets to kill wilhelm. you killed him faster though, great video!

If im not mistaken they lowered some drop rates in 2 and tps which sucks cuz getting legendaries in tps is a pain in the ass its even worse then bl1

Something to note towards the end of the video, when you kill Warrior for the first time via Moonshot Cannon (So just the story mode kill), it has a 75% chance to drop a legendary in it's pool, otherwise it's a 25% chance. Outside of that, most enemies (including warrior) have a 10% drop rate for their specific legendaries/heads, which are then split evenly between however many items that enemy has in it's dedicated pool, which can explain why for enemies such as King Mong, you had a dry streak of 14 runs. Overall, awesome video, would love to see you do another one for maybe a different borderlands game!!

Yeah, and most drops in BL2 are 5%, but in total, this was my luckiest run ever! And I have other parts of this same challenge in BL:TPS and BL3. I'm now working on the second part of the BL3 video, and I'm super excited to finish it!

yes and the run could get actually challenging in uvhm since there most builds and playthroughs rely on moxxie weapons which are all not legendary if i am not mistaken

not exactly he farms a bit but rarely farms anything specific to defeat the next challenge just some random legendary stuff, also the rules are pretty lenient in the beginning were he does use a non legendary classmod also there is a legendary relic in the game so using a blue relic that basically doesn't do much ain't all that bad but its not like there wouldn't be a relic to eventually farm for

for maya theres also a bnk3r cheese strat similar to b0re with chain reaction, you have to phaselock a loader near the boss and you can basically one shot it

I believe you have Physx effects on high, which is probably a major factor in your crashing. I think if you turned it off you'd notice significantly less crashes playing

careful about using the vault hunters relic! it increases rare drop chances, which is true, but only blue and purple rarity. If I remember correctly it can actually lower your drop chances for legendaries on certain boss fights!

General consensus as far as I’m aware is that it only slight lowers the chance of getting common items and slightly increases getting rare. I have not read anything about it affecting epics or legendaries

i recently finished playing bl2 with only legendary guns and had insane luck off the bat. i got a legendary pistol off of knuckle dragger after 4-5 attempts, got the legendary from both midgemong and boom bewm 1st try. I kept the pistol til the end of the game (in sanctuarys safe) and killed handsome jack with it

You make out cloudkill to be broken af but I'm pretty sure it's damage scales with your level and you were very overleveled u know

True, level does matter, but it's still busted. I played 4 player coop with a few of my mates, and one was running maya. She's carried all 4 of us through the thousand cuts and control core even when we were 2 levels under (and had skulls over half enemies in normal mode). Cloud kill is insanely strong

Anything that can counter PWR and BUL Loaders is insanely strong. I know that the enemies' level isn't really visible, but most of the enemies in Hero's Pass are level 31-33 and The Warrior and Jack were lvl 32.

A cool run would be if u have 1 of each certain weapon you want lock them in but I have to farm that drop from its certain loot drop no bar I did this for pre bl2 and 3 was super fun I added a mix up by having to build those wepons specifically for a certain tree

It doesn’t do that at all. The relic just straight up takes 5% from the common rate and gives it to rares (blues). It does jackshit for all other rarities

My man learned about cloud kill a decade late. This video just reminded me of how much fun I had of bl2 my first playthrough. Bl3 has better gameplay and quality of life stuff, but there was so much magic in bl2 my first playthrough

Maya is my second least-played VH, and I agree that BL3 is better for gameplay and guns, but BL2 is what I grew up on, so it will always be my favorite.

In my opinion you should be forced to use legendary class mod if you're going to see how difficult it is with only legendaries because that makes sense to me

4:06 one of the biggest disappointments in life for me was learning you can't make that grenade jump, until you get in the car there's an invisible wall

The grenade jump you tried to make around 4:00 requires a double grenade jump to make but if you do that its not too difficult

Great video, u have a great calming voice and this is a nice fun idea, only thing i would say is less dead air. It doesnt always have to be talking just to fill time, but maybe some quicker/fast paced editing. Anywho, u gained a subscriber!

The BL series has a ton of good VAs, and Gaige's VA also voices V in Cyberpunk and Irelia in League (and probably some others I haven't checked in a while).

You should definitely do more of these! I'd recommend including some sort of background music, especially because sometimes there are slightly awkward pauses with just gameplay showing, those should be avoided too imo. Still, great video

100%ing BL2 and the other Borderlands games is one of my future goals, once I run out of my best challenge ideas, the only issue is I suck at the game, so raid bosses and OP levels will be interesting to learn.

I've played it for around 9-10 years, but most of that was with my dad, and we only did normal mode playthroughs, some of the dlcs, and rarely a TVHM playthrough. I have gotten halfway through a UVHM solo run, which I really need to get back to, but I really want to get to OP levels in the future.

Wow you have alot more pacents and luck than me on this I tried and got so sick of farming the same low level boss over and over by the time I got to sanctuary I had several level up all the legendary in the first area of the game and several week wasted.

Imagine if every enemy TYPE has a dedicated legendary. Like every bandit could drop a gub, every nomad could drop a badaboom, every bruiser could drop a blacl hole shield, etc. Thatd be pretty cool.

That is definitely a cool idea, but that would make farming some items annoying because you would need to kill a specific type of enemy in a spawn pool of a bunch of different enemy types.

Vault hunter's relic doesn't increase you legendary drop rate it just increase how often you get Rares and from my experience it makes it slightly less likely to get all other rarities not just commons.

I gave the KerBlaster one chance to drop, but didn't get it. Yet I found that the enemy groups are spaced on the map in such a manner that Zer0 can use his skill to run from safe spot to safe spot until reaching the door to Midge-Mong. I'm now starting the Firehawk quest in Frostburn Canyon, and I wonder if I can get through it in the same way (and kill all enemies in a later side quest when I have the shield).

I got super lucky on my first proper Krieg playthrough. With very little farming(1-3 runs at most), I got the KerBlaster, DPUH, and Fastball. I'm level 22 now, and still using all to great effect.

Very enjoyable video, only thing i can reccomend is making the clips you dont talk over, louder, it would flow better. Also how in the absolute hell did you get that badaboom??? Thats so close to perfect for rocket jumping

I do motion all the way up to the capstone. Sub sequence is excellent especially paired with Ruin. I kill on average four enemies every time I phaselock

a few legendaries that would have helped early on are Kerblaster (from midgemong) as a early legendary that isnt a pistol, Flame of the Firehawk ( quest reward for the cult questline from lilith) as the 1st legendary shield, hellfire (from scorch , a mini boss from the cult quesline) very good fire SMG which again allows u to minimize ammo problems and before u put in the "battery" for the shields u could have taken the sidequest "the good the Bad and the mordecai" to get access to 2 more good legendaries( the veruc, a good dahl assault rifle and the lyuda, one of the best sniper rifles in the game)

The Kerblaster would have been cool to have, but I didn't want to farm Midgemong, and the Hornet carried me through most of the early game. I would have gotten the Hellfire and the Flame of the Firehawk, but I didn't have a fire gun (even though Maya's Immolate skill could work, I only learnt this after the run.) And this was one of the rare runs where I didn't do The Good, the Bad, and the Mordecai, which I usually love to farm.

Ez all u have to do is play sal and use double norfleet and badabooms and then the sham with the legendary berserker com and there u go challenge complete. All legendary items and there’s no point of a grenade if ur playing rocket jumping sal. And obv u can’t use relics during this challenge.

You need a fire weapon to get the Flame of the Firehawk. In a perfect run if I had a fire weapon, I would go get it. However, my luck paid out with the transformer from that bandit, so I didn't have to farm for a fire weapon.

That was going to be my last resort. The main reason is you need a fire weapon to complete one of the missions, thinking about it now, I could have used fire barrels or Maya's Immolate skill, but I only thought of that after the run.

Yea but i am pretty sure you need a fire weapon for it, bc of the missions. (Idk how well the fast ball will carry) so unless you have the logans gun or world drop, it is pretty much impossible to be useful for the run
