I once cooked tamales like 9 hours. My mom said Don't let the tamales dry out add water and they are done when they come off the husk. I poured water so they never dried and they stuck to the husks

Honestly when I heard the, " monton" word, I would of 1: head to the dollar general. 2: bought a jar of salsa and beer, 3: poured it into a bowl, 4: hid the jar in the trash OUTSIDE. 5: told them I had made it from scratch. Really they would be mad, they can taste the difference from homemade and store bought. But after a couple of beers and some family time it is ok😂

When I heard un monton, i would of walked to dollar store and 1: bought a jar of salsa, 2: opened it, 3: poured it into a bowl, and 4: hid the evidence. 5: Bought some beer. And MOST importantly 6: Bought some beer. They will know the difference. But after a couple of beers why would not mind😂😂

The same damn thing happened to me when I called my Mom up to make Tamales! I ended up using 3 table spoons of cloves...but my mom said I should have used only three little cloves...Not 3 table spoons. It totally Ruined my Christmas Tamales!!! BTW...I was calling my Mom from Houston TX...and She was in Southern California.
