Yo Caleb, for future reference on the back of pretty much every TV ever there’s a sticker with both the serial number and model number, the model number will usually be a couple letters then 2 numbers (which correlate to the size measured diagonally), then some more letters. To get accurate price checks make sure you use the proper model number from the back!
@TheMilkYourDadWentToBuy
@TheMilkYourDadWentToBuy Жыл бұрын
To add to this. I think some of the price comps you were checking were 27” vs 32” of the same model but i’d have to double check the video to confirm. Just an example of how similar search parameters can yield price inaccuracies.

@TheMilkYourDadWentToBuy

@@jimmyalpert5233 yeah, it’s just important to note cause if you put the wrong model number you could get seriously inaccurate prices. If you just go based on whatever TV looks similar your price could be wildly inaccurate

@ShankMods
@ShankMods Жыл бұрын
@@MidwestBoom I think you are thinking of HD models. WEGA (pronounced Vay-Gah, not WEE-gah caus it's a German brand Sony acquired and repurposed) was Sony's branding for CRTs with flat screens. Flat screen CRTs tend to have worse geometry than their round counterparts. The WEGAs are also infamous for their red push, where it will tint the image red to try to make it "pop" more. This is an intentional feature, and cannot be disabled. I have several WEGAs, they look pretty good. But more along the lines of B tier than God tier. I wouldn't recommend anyone pay more than $50 for a WEGA.

The first TV I bought after college (graduated in 98) was a Sony Trinitron, but that was for watching DVDs on -- it had anamorphic built into the display and the discs looked amazing. It was also 36", I think, and weighed about 300 pounds. I THINK I'm joking, but it was pretty heavy. Doesn't surprise me that it's good for retro gaming, too. Your memory isn't too far off. I remember it being heavy as hell, and according to the product page on Amazon, a 36" WEGA is about 270 pounds. "Trinitron" is the name for the technology inside the tv, Wega is the model, so dont worry you got the real thing. That TV would look more retro on an old style coffee table or a low profile dresser drawers. Sitting on a couch, you'd ideally want the TV set right across from your face for less neck & eye strain. Then drag the TV closer to the couch so it sits between the couch and that wall, so you can walk around it. Put a rug over the plugs to avoid tripping. I love the 80's look. Some CRTs _are_ worth spending a lot on. I own an RCA MM36100. This a 36" 4:3 TV from the early 2000s that does everything a standard CRT of the time does, but _also_ supports 480p via both Component and VGA. This might not sound like much but a 480p CRT is a unicorn. The standard at the time was 480i. 480p (640x480) was a PC monitor standard, not a TV standard for SD TVs and was instead the first standard for which HDTVs would be measured against, and those were Plasma, LCD, or LED TVs. Not CRTs. For my MM36100, I spent $300. It was worth it.

These TV's can easily be found for free or less than $30 in almost any area, just takes a little patience.

My parents still use their Sony wega tv which is exactly the same model you showed in your video. I didn’t know what we had until now Imma buy them a cheap lcd and keep the wega to myself lol

Fyi, trinitron is the flat tube technology. Wega is sony's way of saying the TV has a digital processing unit. This makes it possible to reach 100hz smooth motion, sharpening, and frame matching

I used to sell these back in the late 90"s at Montgomery Wards... man I think I was 20 years at the time and we got commission around $25 per tv when we sold them

My first CRT was found on the side of the road, which I carried the half-mile route back to my house. I accidentally dropped it on my foot when I got home (which left me with a blister that lasted for a long time LOL,) but it worked like a charm (and still does!)

FYI the back of a Prius with the backseat down is just under 7 feet. I've got a mattress I use & sleep in the back on roadtrips, it's really the perfect size.

I have the 20fs120 as well. Would prefer it having s video. Huge set back. The 24" and up seem better since they include it. I had a 21fa310 that was basically this tv souped up with all the inputs, center channel and subwoofer but needed a reflow and gun rejuvenation. Sadly put it out on my curb during my last move. RIP

You should consider getting an S-video cable or the HD Retrovision component cable (snes only) for your snes and n64 for even better image quality.

100% undisputed best CRT gaming TV. It's a flat screen before there were real flat screens. They weigh 400,000 pounds and it's all in the front! My parents had a massive one, it took 3 people to get it out of the house. I wish I still had it.

I have the same tv, i have a really crazy setup with that tv, i have a old onkyo F-7 a turnable, and i bought a adapter double-jack RIGHT and Left to AUX, because the record-player has some inputs for to connect microphones, and also to get audio stereo, and the next step, its connect the cable jack to from tv, and play with a good stereo sound retro of quality and retro games also :00

RGB SCART Cable + RGB -> YPbPr transcoder would greatly improve the SNES signal. You should consider it.

I have two 310s, ha ha. Every time I see a 310, I have to buy it. Most recent one had some "wega sag" so I actually opened it up and tinkered with the deflection rings.

HOLY CRAP, i always come back to this video when hunting for a retro tv of my own comparing with the list for best tvs. TODAY, was on FB and saw someone getting rid of retro TV for free... turns out it was the number 1 tv on your list you shared!!! SO HYPED

do NOT use this video for reference. Every person in the video is spewing an INSANE amount of misinformation. That list HAS to be a troll list or the dude who made the video made it to push the idea that this tv is godlike. I have it and I also have a few of the ones lower on the list and I would genuinely put this screen near the bottom of the list (its a cool tv if you dont care about like 90% of the things people even look for in retro gaming CRTs, I obviously grabbed one, but still). The fact that he has pvms and D series below this is all you need to know to know that he has no clue what hes talking about. Dude doesnt even know what wega or trini means. Like 90% of sony screens from like the 70s on used trinitron tech. The wega is a specific line which happens to use trinitron tech. The fact that he was confused by this is information is like being confused when someone tells you most cars use gas to get around so his disproportionate excitement over seeing this screen is pretty funny.

Copped the 20 inch version of this TV back in 2019 for $30 complete with box and manual. One prior owner who barely used it. I didn’t realize at the time what a killer deal that was. Only minor flaw compared to bigger models is the lack of S-Video input

The N64 game not starting at first means you need to take the cartridge slot apart and clean its contacts with the motherboard. you have to take the whole console apart to do that. It's a typicial n64 issue.

Nice! You should add a RGB to Component Video transcoder to your setup. That way you will have the best image quality your CRT can provide.
