@StanleyKubick1 I appreciate the rudeness and hate also. I’m not going to delete your comment because it’s you exposing your own character publicly. Art is also subjective. Have a great day Stanley and like I said ,” every word isn’t for every ear.” You can go and hear another narrative. I’m currently working on improving myself and my art daily. Let me know if you have any tutorials on color grading and storytelling. I would love to watch. Have a great day and thanks for watching ✌🏿

Thank you so much for contributing nothing but powerful love and encouragement in this season of my life in this season of our lives. I remember reading books and watching videos about Seth Gordon and he used to talk about finding your tribe and how we are the kind of people that do these things and we are this way and other people don’t do what we do because we are who we are. That’s what he defined as a tribe, I feel like in this moment of my life that the people that I wish I met friends are actually finding me. It’s so surreal. I feel like I’ve fought for 18 years as this channel has been alive trying to find people like me and now it’s happening you all are like a dream come true just to be in this collective space and I appreciate you all more than you might know, thank you for your contribution and have a wonderful day and blessings to you and yours. Making tasty beats by cooking em yourself. I love doing this. Super recursive in a really beautiful way that can also allow you to connect with different parts of your own process. I have been digging back and sampling some of my old 4 track recordings. Just searching for moments that are fresh and authentic. Chord structures that I don’t use anymore or happy accidents, listening to stuff backwards and forwards… Thanks for the video!

Absolutely had me when you made a mistake and left it in. THAT KIND of honesty is what I live for. Subbed. Vinyl is hard but there's SO MUCH art lost because they stopped being popular before the tape/CD age. The liner notes... that's how I reverse engineered my favorite artist's influences. Lining up instruments to songs is important, this is deep history. I'm talking too much. But you do good things for my brain my friend. Hope you start an online community.

Yeah, and not listening to what's out there RIGHT NOW is useful when you're trying to... and you just said it. finding your own voice. When you listen to alot of old music, it changes you, and... vocabulary... Imma just stop talking. I've never been a DJ but you're steeping yourself in history, and then that history will speak back through you in amazing ways. Somebody boost this man to the top of the talk, this is *real wisdom* My life changed when I heard Alice Coltrane's Blue Nile for the first time. and I listened to it so much, that she pops up when I least expect her. I write more aggressive music, and she pops up whenever I realize that I've put too much energy in a place for too long. How do you do the vinyl thing if you're not a DJ?

I heard some good ideas. I experiment with "cloning" samples. I also use samples to learn licks and get chord progressions. I used to read liner notes as a kid. Liner notes usually mentioned the rhythm section which included: drums, percussion, bass, rhythm guitar, and piano. Piano is a bridge instrument. With all due respect, you'll get better at producing these videos. I did think the explanations were too long. But you can't know what anyone is looking for. I look at a video title, the length and watch if it promises to offer something I'm looking for. I figured I was gonna find a process so I took a chance. To be honest, I was about to jet until you busted out that tuba! I love that the Roots use a tuba to fill out the low end. It's an underrated, under appreciated instrument. We need more tubas and timpanis and less 808s. We need more clarinets, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, and trombones (saxes took over). That tuba is why I stuck it out to the end. This long comment is kind of like the experience of a long video. Get a point. Get to the point. Show, more than tell. You don't have to explain yourself so much unless it illustrates a point. You don't have to apologize for doing things they way you do. That made the video longer than it needed to be. Three hallmarks of good composition are unity, brevity, and coherence. I'm the south. I think I have something to say. Much success to you and your music.

I appreciate you for your time to make a connection. We have to go longer and deeper in our work and offer more than just the script. That’s how we show we care or that’s how I show I care. It’s really awesome to hear about your stories about the liner notes as a kid. Well my principal instrument is the sousaphone/tuba so there will be more of that for sure 👍🏿

@@PatrickGregoryDaniels The theme of creating from within. Developing an 'accent' within your your music. The balance of learning from intentional music listening versus listening to no music at all. Also the part about recontextualizing samples or chopping them up and remaking the chopped sample from scratch to arrive at a completely new and original idea. Also the part about collecting instruments and vinyl (liner notes). Lol really most of the video. KZfaq recommended this video but I checked out a handful of your other (Shorter) ones. Sample vocals falls under Chords cause u can sing & rap over sample vocals ESPECIALLY singing samples) With ALL of them u can have more than 1 U can have more than 1 drums, bass & Chords They are still all in 1 & they must be 1 with the music

Honestly I always think using samples is a crutch in a big way. It can add and also take away but it waters down the craft once a sample is used so many times. I think it takes a producer with a lot of skill to make good beats without samples.

collecting instruments, huh.....I'd love that, but I'm broke living in a small town (meaning, I can't find random expensive hardware lying around for free). I just use digital synthesizers and mess around. Been doing it for 7 years. Sampling other people's work is odd for me personally. I just can't.

You’d be maybe surprised at how many people probably have dope classic instruments that are gems in your small town. It’s probably a goldmine! It’s all about my perspective. I been blessed and given so much at times. I respect your work flow. Sampling other people’s work is is for me too. Would love to understand more about your approach to your music!!! Have a great day!!!

Yeah, 👍🏿 me too !!! It’s coming soon I believe. I’m working on my new film right now it’s a mix of message and music!!! Thank you for your time and your thoughts 💭 I appreciate you. I’ll keep it in mind that you want to see the actual making versus the “How” part. Most viewers don’t make music so I love to meet people and communicate.

@@PatrickGregoryDaniels I totally get it Brother. For myself, It's very inspiring to watch musical creations bloom from a thought or feeling, and manifest into an awesome work. I've always felt like the power is in the process... mistakes and all. Lol. I've subscribed and will be looking forward to watching you work. Peace and Blessings to You and Yours my Brother.

Interpolation & Sampling are all the same…. Everyone who does music copies from the greats that were before them… Which is still sampling, it’s all about how you blend & manipulate your instrumentation….

I respect your opinion for sure it’s really important! I do think that there is definitely a difference or something more organic about happening to have created something similar to someone uniquely and definitely stealing it like an artist…. It’s more like a sense of integrity for me because people will tell like for example a bass line I created on sousaphone sounded like a bass line from diggable planets. I hadn’t listened to the song at all before my creation so my creation was an organic unique occurrence within my creative integrity. Vs. me directly copying/ sampling it. Both are super 🆒 I just enjoy using my own voice a lot to arrive at the place ya know…. It’s like sampling is: Using GPS( Waze or google maps) Whereas using your voice: Like driving yourself to a restaurant just by cruising and arriving at a beautiful meal organically… Thanks for your beautiful interpretive musical philosophy that hosted for the platform of creative thought. I really appreciate you Especially since I snuck to the bathroom 😂 to respond. Peace ✌🏿

I love the message if you’re pushing people to venture into musicianship but making music for someone else to hear? You’re not sampling for the instrumentation mostly in my opinion you’re sampling the $30k neve/ssl console , the $5M concert hall acoustics , the tube-tech signal chains loll. You can get all the real instruments you want but unless you wanna be trapped in low-fi you’re music will not be compete with the music you love listening to if you dont have proper recordig equipment. You’re first lesson should be get comfortable spending good money on boring shit that you dont want to like cables and patchbays lol
