I had to change first. I have to become the person I want to see in my husband. I had to learn to listen to him- you know we women sabi talk talk but no be talk Dey change person. I was forced to grow up, listen more and look at things from his perspective- he’s somebody’s child too you know. If I’m his mom, what will be my prayers for him, if I’m his sibling what will be my prayers for him, if I’m his child what will be my prayers for him, if I’m his friend, what will be my prayers for him; I’m choosing to be the answers to the prayers of all these people in his life. It’s not an easy decision but I’m taking each day one moment at a time

It's so refreshing to hear such a wonderful testimony about an African Man of God. Often we hear so many stories that present maintaining a marriage as being a woman's responsibility alone. However on this platform a very balanced Christian narrative is shared. Pastor Jerry took the bullet for his family, stood as a priest, mentored his wife and is now enjoying the fruit of that labour. I bought that book and I have it. It is my reference book. I had such angers myself and after reading her book I learnt a lot and I am going through some life transformation through prayers as well and attending Streams of Joy Church services. Since I joined NSPPD in January 2022 I feel so much at peace and I am learning a lot. My prayer life is growing. My spiritual life is improving. My journey is in the right direction and I know I am getting there. I am praying for the Holy Ghost to fill me up. Well done Mama Funke to bring her on this platform. Her life lessons are not only for women but for men as well. Anger is anger and both men and women who have similar problems should read that book if anyone is struggling to control their emotions.

yes true. Anger is anger for both men and women. Mine broke down because of the turbulent atmosphere even without a hand being raised. I had not realised anger can be so destructive especially when " the elder brother " Bitterness also takes over. I'm still recovering from the effects so I can so relate. What an amazing Teaching, wow many of us women grew up in unhealthy toxic environments that put things inside of us that we do not even realize until later in life. Only by the Grace of God. Thank you For bringing Jerry, anger disturbs me as well in my marriage, I am that very tough mother to my little children. Not that I beat them all the time, but I never play or joke with them. All this anger has been caused by the misbehaviour of my husband that I became so strict on the children in the name of "I dont want them to ever behave like their father."

I am laughing my head off😂😂 Honestly this sounds a bit like me o. It took me years to get over my anger too. I didn’t even know I had it. My husband too will go out and help people in the church and disappear for hours. By the time he comes back I would be fuming cos I felt abandoned meanwhile his kind nature is one of the things that attracted me in the first place. I will talk and talk until I have nothing else to say but I don calm now 27 years later. May God help us o. Men like peace that’s one thing I realised 😊

@@chigoziejacob5632 I just try to control myself at the moment things happen as honestly there is just no way to resolve an issue if we are both angry. I don’t always succeed cos this flesh wants what it wants sometimes but most times I wait till I calm down before saying anything. Another way to control oneself is to ask ourselves “Do I want to be right or do I want peace?” A friend of mine said she asks herself that. That really helps me walk away from the situation cos arguing doesn’t help either of us 😊
