I prefer the more frequent small updates. Like where its your life and hey maybe you hung a light, maybe you bought a curtain. Just small little things instead of over the top grand reveal. Usually those kinda glaze over the process to save for time so I like seeing more of the real life hurdles of designing a home. Also we like you as a person so its fun to see your life as well!

I like seeing all the little day to day things you’re doing to your place. That’s how we all update our homes and it’s fun to watch your journey. I personally would want the living room and kitchen to be the same color since the division isn’t clear..

a few random more functional tips (i grew up with my parents remodeling our old house so i see spaces and instantly go to that mindset) 1. shower curtain if fabric still needs a plastic backing to prevent mildew and mold - i love the idea of the ceiling certain but maybe do a sheer fabric bc the window lets in a lot of good light 2. get a bathroom fixture with 2 or 3 bulb spots it makes the place feel so much brighter 3. outdoor lighting! not only design wise but for safety at night is super important no wallpaper in bathrooms with showers, the humidity increases chance of mold, maybe a lighter yellow could complement the green nicely? i can’t wait to see what you do with the place i think more frequent check ins can be fun and then at the end do a bigger video showing it all together. plus with frequent check ins you get more ideas from the audience

You dont actually need plastic backing for a shower curtain, you just need a washable fabric that you can pop in the washer regularly with a cup of vinegar :) just get two shower curtains so you can switch them out while one is in the wash!

Such a cute place. I prefer the more frequent updates like a lot of others have mentioned! It’s fun to see it as you go and see the thought process of you picking things out and deciding on stuff rather than a before and after kind of thing.

I like seeing the process. I mean, sure, there’s something satisfying about the whole instant gratification of seeing a total transformation in twenty minutes, but you miss out on the reality of how many problems come up that need to be solved and such. Seeing the thought process in real time is much more educational and in the end, I think we all appreciate the whole adventure more. But in the end, it’s whatever works best for you which you’ll figure out as your go along. I love that headboard. It’s so practical and cool and interesting. I hope you find one 😃

I think it would be much more conducive to the process of decorating to film more of a day to day style. Then you can show off the new pieces you’ve acquired, because you’ll likely be skipping around the house rather than finishing each room one at a time, right? Loving this content! It’s so exciting ❤

Paige have you heard of the channel "Never too small"? they post tours of small homes/sustainable designs and often interview the designers/architects. It might be a lil modern for your tastes but a lottt of the homes that they tour are beautifully done and include creative/unique built-in pieces.

I love the idea of more frequent little updates here and there, like most people already said. For the bar area I would paint the inside of the arch if that makes sense. For some reason I like the idea of red or chartreuse or something dark and bold. And then hang a piece of art on the wall right above the bar. I think a couple of wall shelves filled with books, pottery, etc. would look nice on the wall next to the bar.
@michaelalvarez9001

In regards to the line by the bar 4:13 , if you paint an accent color as a strip starting from where the counter starts on the left (looking from inside the kitchen 4:38 ), it can help break up the space and highlight the bar itself. It doesn’t have to be a bold color. Another muted neutral would work too. I you change the ceiling light fixture there, a darker color would capture direct lighting really well. You can also purposefully play with the projection of the paint lines if you don’t like it being one solid parallel strip.

If painting becomes too tricky, I think if there's some possibility to put a waterfall plant of sorts or something above the bar in that corner to hide the line would work well.

If you don't want to repaint the entire kitchen to match the living room, I'd recommend getting the paint color from the living room matched and painting that one little kitchen wall (and the under side of the "arch" above the bar, both visible at 04:36) with it. That way there isn't a line in the middle of a wall where the two paint colors meet

I would love to see the process, maybe like a weekly house update. Then maybe you can do a separate video focusing on the before and after of a space once it's "done". But the weekly one could just be bits and bobs you've bought for different spaces because few people decorate just one room at a time.

I love your new place! There is so much interest and storage and I for one think your style direction is going to be very cool. I totally feel your ideas for the outdoor space. I think i would go for a skinny long table as they feel more intimate than round, in my opinion, and on those days when I want to work outside (which is all the time), there is room to spread out comfortably. I can see the lights hanging and friends enjoying being out there. That was the first thing i did moving into my place as it was instant gratification while you select your more long-term pieces for the inside. The place feels cozy and like an artist's space. I can't wait to see what you do. I'd watch you rearrange your dishes, honestly and appreciate the work it must take to put up these videos. Whatever you decide, I'll watch them all. I'd definitely do wallpaper in the curve of the bar to distinguish it as its own area. I'm pretty wallpaper obsessed though and would do it in your bathroom too - I saw another commenter say to avoid it in areas with high humidity but you can lightly brush or spray a sheer matte poly/varnish (like for hardwood floors) over it which will both protect it and make it really easy to wipe down to clean.

One suggestion for the weird paint line over the countertop would be to get a large art piece that ties in colors from the living room and kitchen. If you center it over the island so that it overlaps the paint line slightly it may help visually bridge the two spaces/distract from the mismatched paint.

We have a turn of the century row home where there is a line/small bump out on the wall where the old vestibule used to be, so we honestly just leaned into it and used wallpaper and made it an entryway closet and delineated the two spaces and capped it with trim so I could see using that line in the kitchen as a natural stop point for anything, paint/wallpaper whatever 🫶

I think it would be cool to paint the arch above the bar a fun pop of color, and leave the wall white. So you may have to paint the beige wall white to match the rest of the living room. The fun color from the arch ceiling would extend down to the counter.

lol snuck another "chartreuse" in there but yeah you can go ahead and paint the bathroom if you want it dark and moody, but I think you can have the same effect if you have a small lamp replace any overhead lighting as the main source of light (if possible). i think it makes a small room look taller and when you're feeling extra moody you can add candles!!

Paige, re the paint on where the bar ends - I'd paint that living room wall the same color as the kitchen - not any beige, but a really cool color that you love - like chartreuse - it'd be striking with all that white cabinetry and it'd play up your fireplace tile too. You could have a vase of flowers that are white with light green flowers and then the filler of greens and some yellows. That color separation would delineate the separation, give it some unity (there's a lot of odd lines with the rounded corner bar and then the square top of the door and the solo post side of the door) - and it would give it depth. You could also do a dark red - and add a lot vibrant art! I'd love to see a dark color in your bathroom - even a navy with all that white tile- crisp and clean. I'd only lift the shower curtain to just above the tile and use a vinyl liner and a decorative vinyl curtain. You could get one with thick horizontal black and white stripes, or a scenic one with trees or something. I love your idea to put the sofa aside from the fireplace - I had the same set up in the 70s and did my sofa on one side, a glass top coffee table and 2 chairs that were closer to the fireplace that had a warm paneled wall. Also love the idea of the mirror facing the front door and windows to allow light. And the other mirror with a light over it.

Hi Paige, I love seeing so frequent updates from you. Don't know how you do it right before christmas ;). I love that you have so many large windows in your new place, although in the videos it sometimes looks quite dark inside. Thats why I would try to keep it light in the kitchen/ living room. For the linen closet area on the other side leaning into a moody feel could be fun, like painting the doors or walls a very intense or dark color.

If you do a space quickly, maybe a reveal, but you are being specific and curating your pieces, so I would enjoy frequent updates and chat. I'm also curious as to whether you will end up with "placeholders" to function while waiting on that one piece you actually want. My parents renovated a kitchen and put all the cabinets in their basement, intending to install them. Instead, they built a new home, and installed them in the basement garage (they have a 2.5 car garage on the main level, and a one car in the back, lowest level, intended for mowers etc.) It's really a nostalgic moment to go in dad's garage and see the cabinets from our childhood. They are reconfigured, so the old countertop is gone, it's butcherblock style. So excited for your new adventures!
