i love annotating my books. i had loaned an annotated book to a friend to read & i did let her know that it was. She ended up removing all of my tabs even after i explained what they were for 😢 And i can’t remember what type of tabbing system i used for it (it changes with each book)

Haha that’s fair enough!! It’s definitely not for everyone! I’m definitely one to prefer battered up, old looking books!

Thank you so much!!! To be fair, I don’t ever annotate it as I’m reading or I’d take far too long! I usually read the chapter or whole book and then go back and annotate some of my favourite parts after!!

I really wanna start annotating books I've loved as a way to learn how to improve my writing... but I'm worried that writing in my books will make it harder for me to immerse myself as a reader when I'm just trying to read those stories for enjoyment. Do you find annotations distracting in future rereading?

It depends! I haven’t properly re read a book for ages. And as I said in this vid, I usually read the book normally and then go back in AFTER and annotate my favourite parts. Or I buy another copy to read etc as I am a book collector as well as a reader! I also love having different editions of my fave books too 🫶🏻

I annotate to gain more understanding of what I’m reading. I also learn more words doing this. It makes my writing better. I’ve not been annotating for very long however I’m improved my memory
